Meeting Mrs. Rogers
Imagine Steve taking Peggy back to Brooklyn to meet his family - Anonymous
“What if she doesn’t like me?” Peggy asked fidgeting nervously as the cab pulled up to Steve’s old apartment building.
“What are you talking about? She’s going to love you!” Steve said paying the cabbie and helping Peggy out of the cab. If he was honest, he was just as nervous to introduce Peggy to his mother as she was, but he wasn’t going to tell her that.
Sarah Rogers was not a scary woman, in fact anyone that knew her would say that she was quite sweet, but she was fiercely protective of her son. Helping Peggy up the stairs to the apartment, Steve smiled and squeezed Peggy’s hand before knocking.
When Sarah answered the door, Peggy was pleased to see that she was a short little Irish woman, with graying blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes. When Sarah saw her son she smiled and gave Steve a hug.
“Well, are you a sight for sore eyes, Sunshine Boy.”
“Hi, Ma there’s someone I’d like you to meet,” Steve said placing his hand on the small of Peggy’s back. “Ma, this is Peggy, the girl I told you about.”
“Of course! It’s nice to meet you, Peggy.” Sarah said shaking Peggy’s hand, “why don’t you two come on in? I just put the kettle on.” Stepping into the apartment Steve smirked at Peggy.
“See that wasn’t so bad,” Steve whispered as Sarah disappeared into the kitchen, “I think she likes you!” Peggy stuck out her tongue at Steve and smiled.
“Let’s just see how tea goes.”
