When Sarah had first told Steve that she needed his help with her Halloween costume, Steve had expected her to say she wanted to be Cinderella or some other princess.
Now it was Beggar’s Night and he was helping put lipstick on his eight year old, who was far too excited to show her mother her costume and go trick or treating.
“Sarah, if you don’t hold still we’re going to mess up your make up.” Steve said, fixing a bald spot on the corner of Sarah’s mouth.
“Sorry, Daddy I’m just really excited!” Sarah said as Steve held a piece of tissue paper to her lips so she could blot. “How do I look?”
“You look beautiful, Princess, c’mon let’s go show your Ma how pretty you look.” Sarah grinned and jumped down from the counter and hurried towards the living room where Peggy was waiting.
“Mummy, Mummy, look at me I’m you!” Sarah cried as she ran in to the living room. The look on Peggy’s face was priceless, Sarah was dressed in a miniature replica of Peggy’s old SSR uniform, complete with Peggy’s signature red lipstick and a toy gun in the holster.
“You look beautiful, Darling. Come on let’s get your coat on and get you some candy.”
