In the days of Steve’s USO show, taking pictures with babies was part of the deal. Mothers would line up with their little angels and one by one hand their children off to Steve. Who would hold the kids so awkwardly that it was almost guaranteed to result in a bawling kid before the camera flashed.
But that had been a long time ago, now when Maria passed young Anthony to Steve, Peggy noticed that he seemed much more comfortable holding a baby.
Peggy watched fondly has Steve played peek a boo with the dark haired tot, who was shrieking with joyous laughter.
“He’s very good with children, no?” Maria asked following Peggy’s gaze.
“Hm? Oh yes, he’s very good,” Peggy said distractedly, in fact watching Steve now it wasn’t at all hard to see that Steve would make a wonderful father.
“You know it’s not too late for you two to have a baby,” Maria said with a knowing smile, “I mean look at them, it’s absolutely adorable!” Peggy smiled and shook her head.
Maybe Maria was right, maybe starting a family with Steve could be wonderful.
