Panic attack
After you’re done putting your new clothes away, you go to the living room where you see Wanda setting up the living room for movie night. Steve was on the phone ordering some pizza’s for dinner and Tony picked the movie. You didn’t remember the title, but it’s not like you had seen a movie before. Besides the ones they made you watch in the Red Room as a kid.
Steve and Tony were each sitting on an armchair placed next to the couch you shared with Natasha, Wanda and Yelena. You sat in between Wanda and Natasha. The movie has been on for a while and the pizza was mostly gone. On the screen the main character was currently being arrested and thrown in a jail cell. Your eyes went out of focus as memories of being locked in solitary confinement and being hurt over and over flashed in front of you. Your heartbeat started to raise and it was getting hard for you to breath.
The Avengers were crouched around you trying to get you out of this state and to get you to breath normally again. “Wanda read her mind, maybe we can get her out if we know what’s happening” Tony says. Wanda goes to read your mind and sees the same images that are flashing before your eyes. “It looks like flashbacks from the Red Room. She feels hurt and unsafe” Wanda states. Natasha takes you in her arms and repeatedly whispers “you’re safe now (y/n), we won’t let them hurt you again” in your ear. You slowing slip back from your flashbacks with tears streaming down your face. You look up at Wanda who tells you that you’re safe with them once more, before letting you out of her grip. “Hey it’s okay, we’ve got you. No one is going to hurt you again” Wanda says while she puts a hand on your shoulder. Yelena handed you a glass of water, you took a small sip before handing it back. You look around at all the people around you and hide your face, hating that they’re all seeing you like this, but also not being able to move away from the couch.
“Maybe we should give (y/n) some space.” Wanda announces. The other Avengers nod and start to walk away. You pull on Wanda’s arm and point to the side of your forehead, as if asking her to read your mind, not having found your voice yet. After Wanda reads your mind, she squeezes your hand as she walks away and calls out for Yelena, “she would like you to stay with her, if you don’t mind.” Yelena walks back and sits down on the couch next to you. You lay your head on the other woman’s shoulder, in return she puts her arm around you inviting you into a tight hug. You laid in her arms crying, while she gently rubbed your back.
You wake up scared and sit up quickly, in your bed? You look around a bit confused. “Hey it’s okay” you hear next to you, “Yelena?” you ask looking around. “I’m right here (y/n), you’re safe” she says as she touches your arm softly, grounding you. She sees you looking around the room with confusion in your eyes and explains that you feel asleep on the couch and that she carried you to your bed, so you would be more comfortable and that she didn’t want to leave you alone so slept on the other side of the bed, “I hope that’s okay?”. “yeah that’s okay, thank you” you say softly you lay back down on the bed “could you maybe hold me again? It made me feel safe”. Yelena opens her arms “of course”.
