The feeling of freedom
The next morning you are woken up by a loud noise. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you.” Yelena said from behind you, “I just wanted to make us some breakfast but the pan slipped out of my hand.”. You look around a bit confused. “We both fell asleep last night. How do you feel about scrambled eggs and some bacon?” she asks. “Yeah that sounds good, thank you.” You walk over to the kitchen island and sit on one of the bar stools. “Yelena?” you ask softly. The blonde looks over to you and hums. “you didn’t have to stay the whole night you know.” Yelena smiles at you “that’s okay, it was nice not being alone.” You sit in a comfortable silence until Yelena puts a plate of food in front of you and sit next to you with her own. “Do you maybe want to tell me the taking down the Red Room from your point of view? I heard Natasha’s side but she mentioned you were separated for the most part.”. Yelena didn’t mind and told you the story.
Natasha walks up to the kitchen and sees the two of you talking and smiling, with a smile and a sigh of relieve she joins the two of you. “Good morning, how you? I came to check on you last night, but you didn’t answer the door. I assumed you wanted to be left alone” She asks you. “Hey Nat, I’m good. Thanks for checking up on me, I wasn’t at my room last night. Actually I didn’t feel like being alone, but since everyone was asleep I came here to look at the stars.” Natasha looks between the both of you before saying “if you ever don’t want to be alone, you can come to me. I think it goes for most of us, asleep or not we are there for each other.” Yelena nods in agreement.
“Good morning Avengers, your training session will start in 30 minutes” F.R.I.D.A.Y. announces. While you look around to see where the voice is coming from. “Oh, and that is F.R.I.D.A.Y., she’s the AI Tony created. If there’s ever anything or anyone you need, just ask F.R.I.D.A.Y.” Yelena says. “F.R.I.D.A.Y. tell everyone that breakfast is ready” Natasha speaks as she made more scrambled eggs and bacon. After breakfast you all head to the training room.
“Okay, listen up guys” Steve starts “today we’re going to be practice some hand to hand combat, no weapons, no powers” Everyone starts to pair up and Steve walks up to you to ask you if you want to join them or if you’d rather observe, making sure that both options are completely fine. You tell him you would like to observe for a little to see their fighting styles, but that you’d like to join in a little bit. You sit on the bench that is standing in the corner while you watch as Natasha and Tony fight on the left side of the room, while Yelena and Steve are doing the same on the other. After Natasha and Yelena both win from their opponents, Tony announces the next part of training, fighting the AI, this time powers and weapons are allowed. Natasha is up first and manages to take all the opponents out. “Tony can I maybe try this?” you ask. Tony looks at Natasha who nods and says “ just start her of easy”. Tony starts the training program with one opponent at the time. Since you didn’t actually have any weapons on you, you had to fight them of with hand to hand combat. You kept it up quite nice and Tony leveled the program up a bit, so now you got multiple opponents at once. You started to struggle a bit since the opponents did have weapons and were not holding back. “That’s enough for now” Natasha said as she told Tony to shut the program off.
Natasha faces you and asks if you are okay, “yes I’m good, would be nice to have some weapons next time though” you grin. Yelena walks over “hey Tony said trainings over, can I walk you back to your room? Heard you got the one next door to mine.” You walk out with Yelena. “Do you know where Wanda is?” you ask the blonde as you walk into the sleeping quarters. “Ehm no haven’t seen her since dinner yesterday, why?” You tell her that she got you the clothes you were wearing and if you were wondering if she had anymore. “come with me” Yelena says as you arrive at your hallway. She leads you into her bedroom and to her closet “pick anything you want, you can borrow some of my clothes. And how about we go shopping to get you your own stuff? I’ll ask Nat to come too”. You look at her closet a moment before speaking up “are you sure?”. Yelena smiles at you “yes of course. Look this is the first thing I ever bought for myself” she puts on a green vest with lots of pockets. “that’s really nice and practical, lots of pockets” Yelena’s eyes light up as you say this, “I know it’s so cool right and you can put so much stuff in there, you wouldn’t even know!” You smile as you see the enthusiasm on the other girls face. You look through her closet once more, a red flannel catches your eye. “I’m going to tell Natasha to get ready, when you find everything you need you can get ready in my bathroom if you want” Yelena says as she opens the door.
You grab the flannel and find some black cargo pants and a white top too go with it. You get cleaned up in the bathroom and put the clothes on along with your combat boots. You look at your outfit in the mirror and smile, now you knew what Yelena was so enthusiastic about, the feeling of freedom, wearing what you want and not what you were told to wear. You hear Yelena and Natasha come into the room and join them. Nat goes in for a hug and tells you that you look nice. “yeah you do, you look better in those than I do” Yelena says with a smirk on her face as you chuckle. She gets changed too and the three of you leave to go to the mall. You come back with lots of new clothes, Yelena bought another vest and Natasha found a new leather jacket. You also went by a supermarket to get some snacks and drinks for movie night.
