Chapter 12
Steve was woken up by loud singing, he cleared his groggy eyes and looked around his unfamiliar surroundings and realized he was no longer on the set of the photoshoot, but he recalled that he was still sitting on the same corner of the set last night.
He looked around once more and noticed the bright ray of the sun on the floor-to-ceiling window of the building. It seems like the shoot was done and a mass worship of some kind is going on at this moment. He felt like someone was watching him and when he turned on his side a kid was intently looking at him confused as to why he was sitting on the floor. He just looked at the kid and gave him a timid smile. Some people might have seen him sleeping in the corner and that was embarrassing.
Steve had to sneak out of the function quietly as to not disturb them any further.
Meanwhile in the studio
Maria was telling Wanda what happened in the photoshoot, she told her about how they made Steve run errands for them the entire time and Nat’s brilliant idea of making him a subject and how that made him feel so uncomfortable.
“I think you missed the part where he got tired, fell asleep, and decided to leave him there,” Nat said teasingly knowing that it would annoy Maria for stealing the best part of telling Wanda what happened.
“Nat, I was getting there!” she said annoyed. "I don’t think he'll be coming back after that,” Maria said confidently.
“I’m pretty sure he won’t back down that easily,” Wanda said surely.
“We’ll see about that then,” Maria responded challengingly.
“Whatever guys, I’m ready for my second cup of coffee,” Nat said urging them to go.
Just when they were about to leave, the door of the studio chimed signaling that someone came in. they glanced in the direction of the door and there they saw Steve standing in all his glory carrying cups of coffee and a paper bag.
“Steve, you’re here,” Nat said a bit surprised. “Yeah, you forgot something on the set,” Steve said seriously.
“We did?” Natasha asked innocently “What did we forget?”
“You forgot about me.” He said kiddingly.
They all laughed at that and Nat just added “I’m sorry, amnesia” she said pointing her head.
Steve looked at her then at Wanda and Maria still smiling brightly and saw Maria giving him dirty mad looks. That’s when Steve confirmed that it was her idea to leave him behind.
Steve was now even more determined to get back Nat and make it up to her friends as well.
The coffee in the morning happened daily after that.
Every morning Steve would stop by the studio bringing them coffee and breakfast. Every time Steve comes by it would just be Nat and Wanda most of the time for Maria was often out in the field. There are times he would also bring Nat home and give her flowers just like he used to do when they were together.
As time passed by Natasha’s feelings were moved to a certain degree as well, It was a good thing Maria was there to remind her of the plan and that she wasn’t supposed to give in and that would snap her out and get her guards up again.
As this happens Wanda was just on the sidelines watching and observing her friends, she knows that this plan would backfire anytime soon and she just hopes that Nat would realize this before it’s too late and hurt them both once again. She promised herself she’ll help Nat as best as she could to make her see this before it’s too late.
It was the weekend, Maria, Wanda, and Natasha were preparing for another photoshoot when Steve arrived with their coffee. They were about to leave when Maria got a call from Nick.
“Nat we have another client the photographer canceled last minute and they need a new one ASAP, Nick said you gotta take it,” Maria said.
“What about the event? It’s quite a big one.” Nat responded.
“Don’t worry about it, Wanda and I can handle that,” Maria replied.
“I got Clint, we’ll meet him there,” Wanda said who just got off the phone.
“Nick said It’s just a family portrait Nat, you can handle that one,” Maria said while unloading Natasha’s equipment and handing them to Steve. “You’re going with her!” she told Steve not even asking him. He was quite taken aback by what Maria suggested but took the equipment anyway.
“Is it alright with you?” Nat checked on him, Steve just nodded “I’ll be your assistant today Nat.” he smiled at her.
“Nick will give you the location Nat, bye!” Maria said hurriedly and Wanda said her quick goodbye as well.
She got the message from Nick and they drove off to the location.
