Chapter 3
Back at the table you’re quiet while the others talk. “I’m going outside to get some air, I’ll be back.” You say while standing up. “Can I join you?” Natasha asks. She gets up as you nod your head.
Once outside you sit down on a bench facing the water with a deep sigh, Natasha joins you but doesn’t speak. The two of you sit in silence for a while, you’re deep in thought. “You know you can talk to me about everything right?” Natasha says breaking the silence, you look at her and nod. “Even if it has something to do with my sister.” Your eyes widen, but the soft smile Natasha sends you makes you relax again “And here I though your girlfriend was the one that could read minds.”
Natasha laughs “true, but I know you y/n. You’re my best friend plus I’m a spy, there’s not much you can hide from me. So spill” You contemplate if you should tell her, you decide to just go for it.
“Okay so it’s about Yelena, but you have to promise me to keep this to yourself okay?” Natasha nods so you continue. “I don’t know, it just feels like we have a connection you know, like we clicked right away. We have so much in common and then we danced and I think I-“ you stop your ramble, looking down at your hands. “like her?” Natasha finishes for you. You look up at her “Yes, but it wouldn’t be fair. Not to either of us.”
Natasha puts a hand on your shoulder “What is meant to be is meant to be. I saw the way the two of you were looking at each other while you were dancing, that’s the whole reason I knew it had something to do with Yelena.”
“I have to apologize to her, I kind of walked away from dancing with her pretty abruptly.” With a final squeeze of your hand, Natasha gets up “I’ll ask her to join you out here.”
Not long after Yelena walks out “hey, is everything okay? Nat asked me to join you outside.” You nod “Everything’s alright, I just wanted to apologize for walking away from you like that. I think I might have given you some mixed signals, I’m sorry for that Yelena.”
Yelena takes a moment to take in what you said before speaking “you don’t have to apologize. But if you didn’t want to dance with me, you could’ve just told me.” You notice a sadness to her tone and move your hand to her shoulder “Oh no, I did want to dance with, I really did. I just have some stuff I need to figure out." Just as Yelena is telling you to take all the time you need, Natasha and Wanda walk out of the restaurant. “Ready to go home?”
You head back home where you watched a movie, but you weren’t really paying attention to the screen.
You thought were occupied by Yelena and how it felt to dance with her. You felt at ease, comfortable and safe. When your face was only inches away from you if felt like you and her were the only two people in the restaurant. That was until your head though back to what happened the day before.
Sure you were the one to break up with Kelly, but the way she acted still hurt. You needed some time away from any relationship. To heal and to figure out what makes you happy, since you hadn’t been in a while. Of course you’re friendship with Natasha and even Wanda made happy. But your ex was always there to tear that apart. You needed time to get what she put in your head to leave.
But in the moment all you could think about was kissing her. That’s why you had to go.
“y/n, do you want more popcorn too?” Wanda asked snapping you out of your thoughts. “Oh no I’m good, thanks Wands” You say with a distant smile.
“Just so you know your thoughts are very loud” your eyes shoot over to Wanda, who gives you an apologetic look.
