The Courtyard
Ophelia stood in the courtyard by the palace throwing bright red balls of energy at a training stone. A stone spelled by Frigga herself to allow Ophelia to use all her strength against it without any damage. So she could test her power without causing damage. As she threw blast after blast she could feel an emotion bubbling within her. An emotion associated with hate, but not hate. More like pure unadulterated anger. She was angered with herself for agreeing to come to Asgard indefinitely. And while she understood she made this decision out of love for her partner, she missed her life on Earth. And she felt another emotion alongside this anger, guilt. Guilt for the feeling of anger towards her decision to come to Asgard. She thought she had decided that this was where she was meant to be. But she wasn't. And that made her feel guilty. She wanted to want this life. for Loki. He was finally moving up in the ranks in his father's eyes and gaining the respect he deserved from his people. How could she feel this way after seeing the joy he expressed now each day?
The sun was hot and the stone glowed with a red hue, absorbing each blow she bestowed upon it. Ophelia walked over to it and placed her palm upon it's surface. It hummed with her magic spilling over. And yet, it did not fall nor break. It simply stood still awaiting another blast from the Scarlet Witch.
"Take it back." Loki's voice rang from the other side of the courtyard. Ophelia turned and raised an eyebrow.
"Take what back?" She asked and Loki walked over to the stone and placed his hand upon it. His eyes shone red and he smiled as red wisps expelled themselves from the stone and slithered to his skin like snakes on vines. Ophelia watched in awe as he took the power within the stone.
"Take it back." Loki said again and Ophelia pressed her hand to his chest. She sighed as she felt the familiar comfort of her magic. It flowed from Loki's body to hers and encompassed her in a fuzzy warmth that could only belong to her. "You can transfer and store your own magic. Just like I can. And you can do it with other magic from other sorcerers as well. But only those you have a connection too. That is why my mother and I can share spells and transfer power to one another. And now, you and I can do the same."
"Because we are bonded?"
"Because we are bonded." Loki said and Ophelia turned back to the stone and ran her hand along it.
"Your mother's magic is unlike anything I have ever seen. Well, except yours, you two are very similar." Ophelia said now turning to sit on a near by bench.
"Up." Loki said just as Ophelia sat down.
"I've had enough for today."
"No you have not." Loki said then pulled her to her feet. He stood a few yards away from her and raised his palms before him. Ophelia reluctantly did the same. "We have never sparred." He said and Ophelia thought for a moment. They hadn't.
"You will lose." She said with a smirk.
"I think not." Loki said then blasted her with a ball of green energy. Ophelia stumbled back and regained her balance. She groaned as she cracked her knuckles.
Her eyes glowed as she mustered the strength to hit him back. He moved just an inch. A smile plastered on his face as he approached her. They went back and forth for a while until they started to inspire a crowd to form. Thor stood next to a very pregnant Jane and they cheered for Ophelia. This distracted Loki and he looked over to them which allowed Ophelia to hit back with more force. He fell to the ground and Ophelia pinned him. He smiled wickedly at her and Ophelia rolled her eyes knowing exactly why her partner teased her so. She bent down closer to him and placed her hand on his right temple. His eyes turned red and he fell into a trance. Ophelia stood from him and lifted his body into the air. His mind blank and his body stiff. She threw him across the courtyard. He fell into a rose bush and frantically stood with confusion on his face.
"I win." Ophelia said then walked off the courtyard. Thor gave her a high five as she walked away. But before she could make it up the tall stone staircase to the gardens Loki appeared in flash and teleported her to the palace halls. "What the hell?" She asked and Loki laughed.
"I win." He said and Ophelia groaned in frustration realizing the Loki she had thrown to the bushes was in fact an illusion.
