Coffee with Levi

It was Monday morning and Ophelia didn't have work this day. She woke just as the sun began to peak above the horizon. She stretched in her bed of warm colorful blankets and yawned. She always was an early riser. She rubbed her face with her hands then peered at her phone on her antique dark wood bedside table. It was seven in the morning. For some this would be way too early to start their day off. But for Ophelia it was perfect.

She pulled her blanket off her self and swung her legs over the side of the bed. Her feet hit the cool hard wood of her floor and she padded over to her closet. She pulled off her pajamas, peering over her shoulder to make sure there wasn't a certain peeping spider in her home. Peter Parker didn't seem like the creepy type but considering how he had managed to sneak up on her the night prior she was a bit on edge.

Ophelia rummaged through her closet until she picked something to wear. She chose a pair of dark wash jeans and an oversized forest green sweater. As she teleported herself to her bathroom to brush her teeth and comb her hair her phone rang. She snapped her fingers and her phone appeared in her hand. She looked down at the screen and a smile spread across her face. She placed the phone on the bathroom counter and tapped the accept button on the screen. She put the phone on speaker and began pulling her hair into a high ponytail.

"Hello Levi." Ophelia said with her hands in her hair.

"Hello darling. Care for a morning coffee?" Levi said through the phone. His dangerously exquisite British accent sounding effortlessly to her ears.

"Same spot, same time?" Ophelia asked as she began applying a light coat of mascara to her eyelashes.

"See you soon." Levi replied then the call ended.

Ophelia finished getting ready then walked to her kitchen. She sighed seeing the mess of dishes she left from last nights little dinner party. She flicked her wrist and the dishes floated from the table to the sink. She shrugged at the sight of piled dishes in the sink. Something to worry about for later. She grabbed her bag from the table and glanced down at the card left by Peter Parker. She picked it up and threw it into her bag. A problem for another day. She pulled on her black lace up Dr. Martens she always had by her front door. Her go to shoe.

Ophelia didn't even bother to open her front door. As she often didn't. She spun her hand in front of her and pushed it forward. The same large portal that she used to get home from work appeared and she stepped through. She arrived at a different alley around the corner from her and Levi's favorite coffee spot. She looked around to see if anyone saw her arrive then walked down the alley toward the busy streets of Manhattan. She walked the street until she found their spot. She looked through the large window of Aspire Coffee and saw Levi sitting at their usual table by the window. He looked up and flashed her a bright white smile. His short black hair glistening in the glare of the bright morning sun shining through the window. Ophelia waved to him then made her way into the coffee shop. Ophelia walked over to her friend and slung her bag over the back of her chair.

"I ordered your usual peppermint thing you love so much." Levi said pushing the cup full of steaming caffeine toward her as she sat down. Ophelia picked up the drink and took a long sip. "Easy there your going to burn yourself." Levi said raising an eyebrow. His sparkling green eyes looking at her. Ophelia chuckled lightly then put her drink down. Ophelia looked down at the sketch pad resting on Levi's side of the table. A freshly sharpened pencil resting between his long pale fingers in his right hand. Ophelia leaned forward attempting to take a look at what Levi had been drawing. "Ah ah ah. No peaking." Levi said with a wink then closed his sketch book. Ophelia leaned back in her seat and held her drink close to her chest looking out the window at the people passing by.

"Have you been waiting long?" Ophelia asked not removing her gaze from the city streets. Levi took a sip of his drink and crossed his legs.

"Not long at all." Levi replied. He noticed his friend had a troubled look on her face. Something was bothering her. "Everything alright my sweet?" Levi asked in his usual eloquent voice. Ophelia turned her head to look back at Levi. She tilted her cup to meet her lips and took another sip of her drink. The taste of peppermint tickling her lips and allowing her to take a quick moment to think before answering.

"Peter Parker was in my apartment last night." Ophelia said then placed her cup down on the table before her.

"Kinky." Levi said with a wink.

"It's not like that." She replied.

"Then what is it like?" Levi asked tilting his head and a crooked smile. His dark wavy hair falling in his face slightly.

"He came into Unique Vintage yesterday. He wanted to get his girlfriend a gift so I helped him. But when our hands touched I may have deep dived into his head for a second. It was an accident. But he didn't seem too upset about it. So I guess that is good. But anyway. When I got home last night I guess he had been waiting for me in my kitchen. He stayed for dinner and then he told me he wanted me to meet a coworker of his." Ophelia explained.

"Coworker?" Levi asked then took a sip of his drink.

"Yeah. Wanda I think? I don't know. He said she does some spin thing with her hands. I'm not sure. I think I blacked out as soon as he said she was an Avenger." Ophelia replied. Levi stiffened but then immediately relaxed. He thought Ophelia didn't notice but she did.

"Something to add?" Ophelia asked her friend. Levi cleared his throat then loosened the collar of his crisp white dress shirt. Always dressed to impress this one.

"Never heard of her." Levi replied. Ophelia could sense he was lying but decided not to pry. If Levi wanted to talk about whatever he was hiding he would. They were best friends after all. They told each other everything. Or at least that's what Ophelia thought. "Did he say anything else?" Levi asked.

Ophelia reached behind her and grabbed the white card with Peter's phone number on it and handed it to Levi. He took the card in his hand and rolled his eyes practically to the back of his skull.

"Funnest Avenger. Really?" Levi said then handed the card back to her. "Are you going to call him?" He asked.

"I don't know yet. You know how I feel about the whole Avenger thing." Ophelia replied. Levi nodded. He did know how she felt about the Avengers. Her gratefulness for their constant fighting for the survival of the planet but also her contempt for the ways in which they leave destruction every which way. She was conflicted. Levi could sense that Ophelia wouldn't even consider calling Peter Parker if she considered him not a threat at least. "What do you think I should do?" She asked. Levi took a moment to consider her question. He tapped his chin with one of his long fingers and considered her words carefully. But before he could answer Ophelia spoke up again. "You call him." Ophelia said. Levi's eyes widened.

"Oh. I can't do that. This is your call to make." Levi replied.

"Please. You call him and tell him that your uh... my assistant! And you would like to arrange a meeting to discuss... things? Ask him why he wants me to meet his coworker or something like that." Ophelia said with pleading eyes.

"Absolutely not." Levi said quickly.

"Why not?" Ophelia asked crossing her legs.

"I am nobody's assistant. And what exactly would I even be assisting you with?" Levi asked focused on the wrong thing.

"You water my plants or something. I don't know! Just please. I am too nervous to make the call myself and your my best friend. Please." Ophelia asked and pouted her bottom lip at him. Levi narrowed his eyes at her still annoyed at the assistant comment but after a moment he gave in. Like he always did when it came to Ophelia.

"Fine. But I am calling from your phone. I don't need Spidey on speed dial." Levi said then held his hand out for Ophelia's phone.
