A Call with Mr. Parker

"Hello?" A confused voice answer the other line as Levi held the phone to his ear. He tilted the phone away from his mouth and put his other hand on the phone.

"He sounds annoying." Levi whispered to Ophelia across the table. Ophelia kicked him lightly in the shin under the table and Levi let out a little huff.

"Hello?" The voice said again.

"Oh yes! Hello is this Mr. Peter Parker?" Levi asked in a slightly deeper tone than usual. His voice not exactly matching his usual buttery vocalization.

"Whose asking?" The voice asked. Ophelia could hear everything Peter was saying through the phone. Perks of having super powers.

"I'm a friend of Ophelia Frank." Levi started but Ophelia kicked him in the shin again. "Ow!" Levi helped. "Assistant. I mean I am her assistant." Levi continued. There was a short pause.

"I didn't know she had an assistant. Super heros have those now? Maybe I should get one..." Peter said and trailed off and then started rambling about how Tony Stark had an assistant and how he wants one now too and on and on and on.

"Ms. Frank wants to arrange a meeting with you to discuss things." Levi said.

"Thats great! If she wants she can come to the Avengers compound. I know it's a little up state but uh... it's just easy to talk there because I am there all the time. Oh! If you want to come you can too. You have a cool voice!" Peter said with a little too much enthusiasm. Ophelia laughed a little at his comment about Levi's unusually deep voice. Levi narrowed his eyes at her.

"Whether I attend or not is not the matter Mr. Parker. But I assure you she will attend. Text the details to this number and I will pass them along." Levi said with ease. He really did have a knack for speaking in general.

"Awesome! Tell her I said hi and-" Peter was cut off by Levi hanging up on him abruptly.

"That wasn't very nice." Ophelia chuckled taking her phone back from Levi.

"He is an incredibly frustrating individual. Talking to him for a few minutes was pure torture." Levi said back to his normal pitch and tone.

"What was with the voice?" Ophelia asked him. Levi shrugged.

"You don't like it?" Levi asked with a devilish grin.

"No. I don't." Ophelia replied then started laughing. Levi sighed. His true intention behind his change of voice not revealed but his attempt in getting a rise out of Ophelia faltered as well.

Just as the two started to gather their things to leave the coffee shop Ophelia's phone dinged. A text from Peter's number popped up on her phone. It read: Hi! It's Peter Parker. Meet us at the Avengers compound tonight for dinner at 7. See you then! :)

Ophelia turned her phone and showed Levi the text completely ignoring the "us" in the text. She had a feeling Peter wouldn't be alone but she knew if it was too much for her she could just snap her fingers and run out of there like a bat out of hell.

"He seems to really like you." Levi stated. Ophelia slung her bag over her shoulder and began walking with Levi toward the exit of Aspire Coffee.

"I think he likes everyone." Ophelia replied.

"Probably." Levi muttered.

The two friends began walking downtown just enjoying the crisp fall day before Levi had to leave to go to work. He was a computer programmer and worked all over the state of New York. So he was out of town a lot. But when he was in town he always made time to see his best friend Ophelia. Today he was only going into the office for a few hours so Ophelia got an idea.

"So... are you coming tonight?" Ophelia asked Levi who was fidgeting with the gold ring on his left index finger as usual. A habit Ophelia noticed he had. He looked up from what he was doing and stared down at her.

"That would be a no my dear." Levi replied.

"But Peter invited you." Ophelia said. She had hoped that an invitation instead of her just dragging him along would convince him to go. According to Levi he had never met an Avenger before. She thought this would be an exciting experience for him.

"Mr. Parker only invited me because he thinks I am your assistant." Levi said with a huff.

"AND because he likes your deep sultry voice." Ophelia said then punched his arm playfully. Levi didn't respond. Ophelia stopped him in his path and placed a hand on his chest. He was cold, as usual. And yet he never wore more than a thin jacket. Even in the snowy season. She looked up at Levi who was looking down at her with both annoyance and maybe even care in his eyes. "Please. Don't make me beg. I need you there. For support." Ophelia continued.

"You know I do love it when you beg." Levi said with a grin. Ophelia removed her hand from his chest and scoffed.

"Whatever." Ophelia said standing back next to him and continuing to walk down the street with him. Levi felt guilty for leaving his best friend hanging when she clearly needed him most, so he relented.

"Fine. I'll go." Levi said reluctantly.

"You will!? Yes! But drop the deep voice thing. Parker might like it but I think it's creepy. He really does have a thing for accents." Ophelia said. Levi nodded in response.

"Shall I meet you at your apartment so we can get there via magic taxi?" Levi asked her as if it were a normal question to ask.

"Yeah that works." Ophelia said then Levi stopped and looked up at a large building that his office was in. Ophelia gripped his hand and gave it a small squeeze. "Thank you. I'll see you tonight!" She said then stood up on her tip toes and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. Levi's face turned bright red and averted his eyes from her.

"Anything for you darling. Now scurry along." Levi replied and waved to Ophelia as she skipped along the street in the opposite direction. And as soon as Ophelia was out of his sight Levi turned down a different street and out of view.
