Kisho opened the gates to hell. Walked down the large stairs leading into the city. He stopped by his sister’s shop. Took some bread to go. Said hello to his nieces and nephews. (and his sister in law). He continued the path, until the buildings around him grew few and far. He finally reached his destination. He was going back to a place he'd hoped he would never see again.
It didn’t look very different from the last time he visited. The stone foxes still looked unclean as they sat at the entrance. The cherry blossom trees look ever so perfect. It would be so nostalgic if it didn’t also bring such horrible memories.
Kisho came here for one thing today. Well maybe more than one. But his main goal was to get the ring his grandmother promised him. His parents had kept it with them after she had died. Even though she had deliberately given it to Kisho when he was 246. It was a beautiful ring with a crow and raven engraved on the inside. Kisho’s grandmother told him that her wife had them engraved when they were in their early hundreds. So when Aiden told him that his spirit animal was a raven, Kisho knew it was fate. And maybe a gift sent to him by his grandmas.
He walked onto the steps leading to the front door. He raised his hand to knock, but couldn’t move. It wasn’t until he heard something in the bushes that made jump. He turned around to see something or maybe someone hiding behind the stone foxes. He grabbed one of his Kunai off his belt. Aiden had gotten him one for his birthday. Definitely the most convenient birthday present. The best part was what came later that night though.
Kisho inched towards the stone foxes trying to not make a sound. Once he reached them he quickly grabbed whoever was hiding behind the foxes. Only to find it was his own daughter?
“Astrid!” He whispered. “What are you doing here? You’re supposed to be with daddy right now.”
He picked her up and she rested her head on his shoulder.
“I wanted to come with you. Daddy said you’d be going alone and I don’t want you to leave by yourself.”
“That’s sweet of you but I’m not leaving forever. I just need to talk to some people I know. Do you want to come with me?” She nodded.
