Day 2 - Grief
Connor sat her down and held her close before telling her the terrible news. “She’s gone Ro. I’m sorry.”
The breaths that were sucked from her lungs. Tears didn’t come to her eyes just yet because no this wasn’t possible. This wasn’t happening. She felt her heart stop, she wasn't sure she if she even wanted it to start again. How could she live without her heart, her soul, the light of her life. She could feel Connor holding her but nothing else. She wanted to yell and to scream but she couldn’t. Nothing came out. Nothing was right anymore. Nothing would ever be right again. She wanted to feel the warmth of her Cas. She wanted to taste her Cas. She wanted to even just see her once again, alive, happy, and here.
Connor couldn’t stop apologizing. At some point his words stopped being words. It wasn’t his fault. Aurora knew that. She didn’t blame him. He was her other half, her platonic soulmate. But right now he wasn’t enough. She needed Cas.
“I need to see her. Now, please.” she begged.
Connor wept, “Ro, you can’t. She fell into the ravine with all the other soldiers. She sacrificed herself so that we would win. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”
If Aurora had any sense of self before, it was all gone now. She felt the breath tear from her lungs and her chest burned. She didn’t even get to say goodbye. The last thing she said to her Cas was ‘good luck see you later’. She could have done more. They could've spent more time together. There was so much she wanted to do with her Cas, but everything was gone now.
