Cap Quartet
Natasha was a fierce woman; she knew how to stand up for herself. She was too violent, her foster family had said when they returned her to foster care. Since then, nobody liked her. Returnees weren't treated properly, as they were rarely fostered again. Of course, no one wanted something that was already discarded.
Kids her age stopped playing with her because she was a bad influence according to the authorities. And the remaining older kids started bullying her and Natasha would have taken a hit if the skinniest and dumbest kid, Steve, wouldn't have interfered. He obviously got beat up, ending up with a black eye, an angry best friend and a new friend — Natasha.
At first, Natasha was scared to be friends with Steve and Bucky because part of her knew that one day someone would choose them, and she would be left behind. She wanted to avoid getting attached only to be left alone when they found a new family. But as innocent and good- hearted Steve was, he was also persistent and so was Bucky. And they kept showing up around her — not talking to her directly, but always open to another friend in their group.
“I have extra candy. If only I had another friend,” Bucky said loudly around Natasha, so much for being subtle.
“I guess I’ll take it, pal,” Steve sighed dramatically, and Natasha rolled her eyes at their antics. “I’ll just go to the hospital and die when I have an allergic reaction to it.”
And that made Natasha succumb, “Okay! Okay! I’ll be your friend.”
Since then, the three of them had been inseparable. They swore they won't go to a house where their other two friends won't be with them and so, none of them were picked by the numerous families looking to foster or adopt.
But they were fine with it, In fact, they were happy. They grew up together as siblings and worked hard to become something in life.
Steve and Bucky joined the system that they grew up in. They wanted to make a better life for kids without guardians. And they did just that by not failing other children. And Natasha, well, had other plans to help people. She wanted to be a doctor and god, it was brutal. Now, she was training as a General Practitioner, and that meant 3 more years before she could practice without supervision. Just like her friend, she was not only persistent, but Natasha was also patient in every aspect.
She was patient when she saw Steve fall in love with Peggy and when she witnessed Steve falling out of love with Peggy. She was patient when she saw Steve befriending Sam, while Bucky was grumbling about how he disliked Sam.
Furthermore, she was more than eager when she saw Sam and Bucky bicker every day. Likewise, she was relieved when Bucky and Sam realized they were idiots in love. And she was also patient when Bucky and Sam got engaged.
