Chapter 1

“Come on,” Sam complained. “It’s not that bad.”

“Not that bad? Why do I need a couch?” Bucky asked with a glare as he aggressively ushered to the couch now in his apartment. “This wasn’t here when I left this morning.”

“You need furniture, Bucky,” Sam said.

“Who needs furniture when the floor exists?” Bucky asked.

“That’s sad, it really is,” Sam said seriously. “You need furniture, man. If not for yourself then for me.”

“Why for you?” Bucky asked awkwardly.

“Because whenever I stay here, I end up sleeping on the floor with you. After missions, I need a comfy bed, man,” Sam said.

“You didn’t, Wilson,” Bucky realized before he quickly ran into the bedroom.

“Steve help me,” Sam said as he looked at the ceiling. “I did this out of love, Bucky.”

Sam sighed and followed Bucky, who was glaring at the queen sized bed now in his bedroom.

“What the fuck is that?” Bucky asked.

“That would be a bed, Bucky. I know you haven’t seen one for 70 years but this is called a bed. You sleep on it,” Sam said sarcastically.

Bucky glared at Sam, who smiled.

“Why do I need a bed?” Bucky asked.

“Because I’m not trying to wake up crippled whenever I stay here,” Sam said before he grabbed Bucky’s hands. “Listen, dumbass, you and I both need this. Okay?”

Bucky hesitantly nodded.

“Great,” Sam said. “You still need decorations.”

“Why? All I need is a bed that I don’t want,” Bucky said.

“Well you kind of need decorations so this place doesn’t look like a prison,” Sam said.

“This doesn’t look like a prison. There’s no bars on the window,” Bucky said, Sam glaring back at him.

“Anyway,” Sam said as he pulled out his phone. “You can just use my Amazon account. Two day free shipping is amazing.”

“What’s Amazon?” Bucky asked, Sam facepalming.

“It’s online shopping,” Sam said, Bucky nodding awkwardly. “Anything and everything is found on Amazon. I have Amazon Prime, which is free shipping and quick shipping too. Just…Just name something you want.”

“A goat,” Bucky said, Sam looking at him weirdly. “What? I had goats in Wakanda. I miss them.”

“Listen, I’m not ordering you a goat, dumbass. Just name a piece of decor you want,” Sam said.

“I don’t want anything else,” Bucky said.

“Okay, I’m ordering you a lamp,” Sam said.

“But I already have a light. Why do I need a lamp?” Bucky asked, Sam rubbing his eyes.

“Steve give me strength,” Sam said to himself as he looked at the ceiling.

Sam took a breath.

“Okay, so how about we order a nightstand?” Sam suggested. “So you can charge your phone without it being on the floor.

“Okay,” Bucky said awkwardly.

“Sit,” Sam demanded, Bucky slowly sitting on the edge of the bed.

Bucky awkwardly pushed his hands against the bed to feel the mattress. Sam sat next to Bucky and typed on his phone.

“Okay so anything on here you can get,” Sam said. “What looks good?”

“I’m fine with anything,” Bucky said awkwardly.

“Okay,” Sam said as he tried not to hit Bucky in the face repeatedly. “Let’s go for black, just like your soul.”

Bucky glared at Sam, who smirked slightly as he looked at his phone.

“Okay, see, this looks nice. And it goes with the bed frame,” Sam said.

Bucky looked at the phone screen and nodded.

“Do you like it?” Sam asked.

“That’s fine,” Bucky said.

“It’s a simple yes or no question. Do you like it?” Sam asked.

“Yes, I like it, you jerk,” Bucky said with a glare.

“Alright, then it goes in the cart,” Sam said as he typed on his phone. “Congratulations, dumbass, you just bought your first piece of furniture. How do you feel?”

“Annoyed,” Bucky said.

“Too bad,” Sam said flatly. “I’m also ordering you a coffee table, since I bought you a couch.”

“Why are you doing this for me?” Bucky asked.

“Because you’ve been through enough crap, Bucky,” Sam said seriously as he grabbed Bucky’s hand. “And living in this depressing ass apartment is more torture you don’t need to go through.”

Bucky nodded slowly as Sam scrolled through Amazon.

“Oh, I have a question I’ve been meaning to ask,” Sam said hesitantly.

“What is it?” Bucky asked nervously. “If you’re asking to hit me, I’m going to politely decline.”

“No, not that, unfortunately,” Sam said as he rolled his eyes. “So…I spend most of my time here and…and most of my stuff is here anyway. And…I was wondering if…if I could…stay here…full time.”

Sam stared at Bucky nervously as he waited for a response.

“Okay,” Bucky said awkwardly. “I don’t care, just don’t eat all my food.”

“Bucky, this is a big deal,” Sam said. “I’m asking to move in. This is a big deal.”

“Not to me,” Bucky said. “You spend like all your time here anyway so it really doesn’t phase me. Hell, you could’ve even moved in here without telling me and I probably wouldn’t care.”

“Thank you, I think,” Sam said awkwardly.

Bucky slowly pushed his hands into the mattress again, Sam snickering.

“You good?” Sam asked with a laugh.

“I feel like I’m falling,” Bucky said as he kept on pushing his hands into the mattress.

“Well it’s a feeling you gotta get used to,” Sam said. “I had to get used to it, and I turned out fine.”

“Since when did you turn out fine?” Bucky asked.

“Wow,” Sam said sarcastically before he grabbed Bucky’s hand.

“Wow, Wilson, we’re holding hands. We’re moving pretty fast,” Bucky said sarcastically.

“Dumbass,” Sam said as he pushed Bucky fully on the bed, so he was now laying on his back.

“Now I really feel like I’m sinking,” Bucky said as his grip tightened his grip on Sam’s hand.

“You’re not falling, I promise you,” Sam said as he lied back on the bed next to Bucky.

Sam and Bucky both turned to look at each other with a smile.

“You’re okay,” Sam said quietly.

Sam leaned closer but groaned when his phone rang. Bucky started snickering as Sam aggressively pulled his phone out of his pocket.

“Sam Wilson,” Sam said as he rubbed his eyes. “Yeah. Now? Seriously? I’m coming, I’m coming.”

Sam hung up and sighed.

“Captain America business?” Bucky asked.

“Yeah,” Sam said tiredly.

“Well I’ll be here. Have fun with that, Cap,” Bucky said.

“I hate you sometimes,” Sam said to himself as he got off the bed, Bucky smirking.

“Love you,” Bucky said.

“Love you too,” Sam said as he rubbed his eyes. “I’ll see you in a…whenever I’m coming back. So much for date night.”

“Watching tv on the couch will be date night,” Bucky said. “Or date morning. Whenever you get back.”

Sam smiled before grabbing the duffle bag by the wall. He quickly kissed Bucky before leaving the apartment.

“Stay safe,” Bucky whispered to himself.
