Honor The Fallen, Move From the Past
Luz and Amity flew down from the building, towards the front law, were everyone was finally gathering their bearings.
The battle is over. They had won.
Luz got off her palisman first, and helped Amity walk. She was holding Azura on her other arm.
"I'm ok Luz, I can walk."
"You are limping Amity, and you are all bloody. Come one, let's go get you help."
Luz helped her limping wife get to the healers.
Emira was healing Vee when she noticed them.
"Sis !"
She quickly stood up and hugged her sister. Edric, who was nearby, hugged her as well.
"What happened to you !" Em yelled.
"That bitch did that to you, didn't she. Worry not, we will.."
"It's fine." Amity said, shocking her siblings. "Odalia is dead now."
"She's...gone." Emira mumbled, her voice full or relief.
"Holly shit....finally." Edric mumbled as well.
"Em...please heal me. I... I want to hold my daughter. "
"Yes of course." Emira said. Leaving Vinney to heal Vee, so that she could focus on Amity.
"So...she is gone now."
Everyone turned to the new voice that had just come in.
"Dad." The siblings greeted.
Alador had mixed feelings. Mostly he was also relived that Odalia is gone...but part of him...the part that had loved her, could not help but feel sorry that it had ended like this.
Then again, how much had that love been real ? No one knew, and now that she's dead, no one will ever know. He will just have to make peace with it.
"I am glad you are ok. All of you." Alador finally said. "Giving each of his kids a hug." Now, I need to take some time to process this."
Alador walked away after checking on his kids. They all new he needed his space, so they let him.
"There you go sis, you are all set." Emira said.
As soon as she could, Amity grabbed Azura from Luz and hugged her tightly.
"I love you honey."
"I love you too Mommy."
"Em...I am still in pain."
"I patched you up enough to hug her, but you do need a more in debt check."
"She really did a number on you sis."
"Yeah, but Amity here had her worst. Trust me, I saw it." Luz chucked.
"Really...you could at least have taken a picture."
"Well would you look at that, my favorite family is here !"
"Huh ? Eda !"
Eda walked towards the group, with Lilith and Raine at her side.
"I heard it right didn't I ? Odalia is finally dead."
"Yeah...she fell right on the boiling sea."
"HAH, that is the death that bi..."
"Eda, there is a kid here !" Lilith yelled. Pointing at Azura, who was looking at Eda curiously.
"Bi.......because she was so bad, yeah, like those bad guys in the books you read her. Yeah, because of that.."
"I still need to sent some scouts to try to recover a body...but I don't think there will be much to find." Raine said. "Its regretful that we could not get Odalia in trial...but I think we can all rest easier knowing with her gone, its also the Confederation."
The Collector was flying around them, trapping the few remaining members left of the Confederation.
From the corner of her eyes, Amity could see Steve (holy shit, he actually made it out with that shield she gave him) pushing a chained Boscha and Kikimora to the transport that would take them back to prison.
Boscha looked badly beaten up. Like all those beatings she gave at school, had finally come back to haunt her.
Amity and Boscha only locked eyes once, and while Boscha's stare was full of jealousy and logging, Amity's only had rage, hatred, and a silent threat that if she tried anything, Amity would put her down.
Boscha shook her head and allowed herself to be strapped in the transport, were she was carried of to a place she will be in for a long long time.
"What about Terra ?" Luz asks.
"Dead as well. She won't be bothering anyone ever again, good riddance."
Both Terra and Adrian had died, which meant only Vitrimir was left of the coven heads that chose the Confederation, he would be answering for a lot now.
"Luz look !" Amity pointed.
The couple turned and saw Willow walking towards them.
" Willow !"
Their gave them watery smiles.
"I saw her fall. From where I was." Willow said. "Good job Amity. She..is finally gone. And I am glad you got Azura back."
"Thanks Willow."
"Hey...where are Hunter and Gus ?" Luz asked. "They were with you, right ?"
Willow said nothing, looking at the floor.
"Willow....what happened ?"
Amity felt dread coming towards her. Could it be that..
"Hunter is fine." Willow finally spoke. "But Gus....he....he didn't make it....he's gone."
"No..." Luz said, clinging to Amity after she heard that. "No....Gus..."
Amity herself was having trouble believing it. That the energetic Gus, the youngest of the group that had so much live left in him....was no more.
Then she saw Hunter come out from the building...and in his arms...was Gus' body.
"Azura look at me." Amity said. "Keep your eyes at mommy." She did not want her daughter to see that.
Azura did not question it, and just pressed her head against her shoulder.
"He insisted that he had to carry him out." Willow whispered. "That he owned it to him."
"Gus..." Luz mumbled. "First Mama...now you."
They had won....but the taste of victory was truly sour.
Four days later.
A meeting for all of the citizens was called. Either to be attended in person, or watched threw crystal ball.
"Good morning everyone." Raine said threw their microphone. "As head of the council. I am here to speak to you about the recent events that have taken place, all the way back from the Deamonne-Park wedding, to two days ago at the Skull. As you all know, a group named, the Confederation attacked the isles, with the intention of getting back the coven system under Belos. Well I am pleased to say that today, I can confirm that the Confederation is no more. Their bases have been captured, and all of their funds have been seazed. Their leader, Odalia Blight, former head of Blight Industries, ex wife of Alador Blight, and the disowned mother of Emira, Edric, and Amity Blight, has been confirmed dead. She was killed after falling to the boiling sea. While there is simply no body left to grab, we have enough remains to confirm her death. I would say condolences, but frankly, after all this detestable woman has done, the fact that she helped Belos with his massive genocide, planning and killing so many witches this past days, the fact that there is enough evidence that she abused her own family, makes it hard to feel any kind of sympathy. The death of Odalia Blight, is nothing but good news to the Isles, and if even her own former family can't feel remorse for her, then I can't either."
"Couldn't agree more." Emira grumbled from the spot she was watching.
She stood with Edric and Alador, watching the conference.
Amity was not here. She had...other things to do.
"Man....is it just me, or does it feel like...a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders." Edric said.
"No kidding. Only regret is that I could not see it happen."
Alador sighted. He had made his peace with what happened.
And he knew...everyone was better for it.
He had thought that day, if there was something he could have done. If there was anything he could have done on all those years, to stop Odalia from becoming what she became.
But no. There was nothing. Odalia was just like that....and she had gotten the fate she deserved.
Odalia is dead and Alador...Alador feels nothing.
"Its over kids. That's all that matters. That is over."
"Most of the high members of the Confederation, have also been killed. Those who remained have been captured and will all face trial and judgment for what they have done during this past days. Thanks to our friend, the Collector, we now have a way to stop them from using their magic, so that this witches can never threaten our society ever again."
Boscha looked at her arms, which were tied with a golden rope.
Acording to the guard, this prevented her from using her magic, and a quick test proved it right. Boscha was magic less.
"LET ME OUT, YOU CAN'T KEEP ME HERE, LET ME OUT !" Kikimora yelled from the cell beside her.
Boscha sighted, and looked down to the floor of her cell.
When she had joined the Confederation, she had done so to regain what she had lost. To get back her place, that had been taken from her all of the sudden. To get with the witch she loves so much.
Boscha has always loved Amity, so much. All she wanted was for her to give her a chance, one chance.
Then Luz had to come, she took Amity from Boscha, and now look at her. She is in prison, with no home, no family, no friends. While Amity is married and has a kid with the human that took what Boscha loved. While Luz, someone that did not deserve it, has the life Boscha dreamed of.
Then she had to throw her lot with Odalia, the only way Boscha could get what she thought was hers, and look where she ended up in.
Boscha had lost everything, and now she is completely alone.
It was simply not fair.
"But...while it would be tempting to keep bashing on those that have hurt us. That is simply not were our focus should go. Our focus, should be on the ones we lost. On the innocent men and women, that lost their lives thanks to the selfishness of those individuals. To the families and friends of those who have lost, all I can say is...I am sorry. As your government, we failed to protect them. And while they are gone, and nothing will ever be able to replace them, I do want to commemorate them."
Behind Raine. Eda and Lilith lifted a cloak, that was covering a golden stone.
“In this momentum. It is written the names of all the ones that lost their lifes in the battle. To remember them. So that we are always aware of the cost that this battle took, and to remember that life, is precious.”
In Memory of August Porter
A good son, teacher, and friend.
Hunter sighted and held his hand on Gus’ grave stone.
His funeral had been yesterday. But Hunter and Willow felt like going back to visit him.
“I miss you man.” Hunter said,
“We both do.”
It has just been four days since his death, and they felt his loss so much.
But both Hunter and Willow knew that Gus would not want them to drown in their misery about what happened to him. He would want them to continue living their lives.
And they will....for him.
“Come on, we have a wedding to redo.”
“Yeah.” Hunter said, turning to his wife, “and it’s gonna be the best one. For the best witch in the Isles.”
“Ah, I love you too.”
“For the end. I want all of you to remember that, no matter how hard the situation seems. No matter that if someone things they can control us threw fear and power. They will fall. Just like Belos and Odalia did, because we are united, and united, we have the strength to over come all foes. That is all, good day to you all.”
Some years ago, when Luz had been old enough, now living with her at then fiancée, Camila had discussed with her what she wanted to happen after she died.
Camila wanted to be buried beside Manny. The man she had loved, married, and had a daughter with.
So that is what Luz did.
With help from Vee, she made the necessary arraignments for Camila to be buried, and it was finally happening.
They had just layed Camila to rest.
“In memory of Camila Noceda.
Beloved Wife, friend, and Mother.”
“I miss you Mamá.” Luz mumbled. Kissing the grave stone.
Amity stood back, holding Azura while Luz had some alone time with her parents.
“Mommy ?”
“Yes honey ?”
“Why did Grandma have to...leave ?”
“Oh Azura....every person, has their time. Their time starts when they are born, and one day, it ends, and they must leave. Your Grandma she....she gave up her time so that Mama and I could spend more time with you. Same as Uncle Gus. They made it so that we can be together right now, and promise me you will always thank them for that.”
Azura nodded. “I miss them.”
“I miss them too honey. But even if you can’t see them. They are still with you, protecting you, and watching over you. Making sure you are never alone.”
Azura nodded and hugged Amity, just as Luz came back.
She had already had words with Camila. So had Eda, King, Hunter, and Willow, who were standing back from them. Vee was also around, but had taken a moment alone with Masha.
“Are you ok ?” Amity asks her wife.
“No....but I’ll be. They...they are finally together again.”
“Yeah...”
“Besides. It’s not like I don’t have family. I have you and Azura.”
“That’s true...you will always have us.”
They stood together for a while.
“Hey Batata ?”
“Yes Sweet Potato ?”
“Remember That cabin in the human world we had a vacation at. We should go back.”
“A vacation just the three of us...that sounds perfect.”
The peace of the place would certainly help after all that’s happened.
They still had time to mourn those who lost. But eventually, they would have to face the future again. And they would do so as they always have, together.
