Pepper & Peter & Loki
"You're really bored here," she said.
Loki rolled his eyes. "Of course, I am. What am I supposed to do here? Bake cookies?"
"And why not?" Pepper shrugged.
So Loki's words really happened, and to his annoyance, Pepper and Peter forced him to bake cookies with them, which Peter loved and, in his opinion, could not be missed at Christmas. And how could Loki say no to those two?
As it turned out, Loki and Peter were a burden rather than two helpers, but Pepper didn't mind. She was glad she could spend her free time with them, and although Loki was still not so talkative, her kindness and Peter's kind-hearted nature eventually spoke to him at least a little.
"Peter, will you turn on the oven for me?" She asked her son as she mixed the dough. Peter obeyed and jumped to his feet.
"What can I help you with?" Loki asked out of decency, not wanting to just sit here and perch.
Pepper looked at him and smiled. "Look carefully, because Peter and you are going to bake cookies next year, and I'll watch for a change," she teased, and Loki paled one shade. Peter laughed.
"It's going to be great," he said, sitting back next to Loki, who thought that something like that couldn't be great. "The two of us will have the most important task now: to lick the dough out of the bowl," he told him mysteriously, licking his lips. "It's the best thing you've ever eaten."
Pepper laughed. "This is really the most important task. What if you made the dough yourself first, huh? Your stomach will hurt," she instructed him, mixing the dough one last time, and then using two spoons to start placing it in the form of biscuits on a baking sheet.
"Believe me, this is the best part of baking," Peter insisted, whispering it all to Loki. He knew raw dough wasn't very healthy to eat but it was so good! "You're a god. Have you ever secretly eaten raw dough from a bowl? " he asked Loki, who shook his head to his surprise. "Do you know we have to fix this? Now I'm sorry I told you we'd just sit there and watch how my mom was doing. I always helped her with baking when I was little and it was one of the best things! "
Pepper smiled but did not enter the conversation. She knew that now might be a chance to find out at least a little about Loki's past.
"We had cookers on Asgard who cooked for us, and Thor and I were forbidden to go to the kitchen, so I couldn't even experience anything like that," Loki replied, looking strange.
Peter grabbed his forearm. "You know what? We will bake Christmas cookies together. It may be catastrophic, but it will be fun! And that's what it's about. Enjoy it, spend time with someone, and if the result is successful, we can please others," he explained with enthusiasm.
"Well — okay," Loki said, a little confused. How could he refuse? And especially when Peter talked about it so enthusiastically!
Peter and Pepper exchanged glances and beamed. Indeed, Loki stopped being so closed, cold and withdrawn with them, and they always tried to let him know that they cared about him, that they loved him. Maybe Loki was really beginning to feel that he was important and exceptional.
"Okay. I hate to do it, but here you go," Pepper sighed seemingly desperately, but she smiled and placed a bowl and two teaspoons in front of them so they could scrape out the dough. Peter smirked, grabbed the spoon, and took a piece of dough. Pepper laughed at the sight of him and Peter motioned to Loki to have one too.
Loki listened a little uncertainly, picked it up, and put the spoon in his mouth. The sweetness and taste of chocolate spread on his tongue. Oh. Peter was right. It was one of the best things he tasted.
