Note
Welcome to our Holiday calendar, in which we will focus on fragments from the lives of our heroes in The Devil All The Time series. You can look forward to a lot of characters that appeared mostly in the whole series. The one-shots are arranged chronologically, so you hopefully be familiar with the time period. I won't have as much time in December, so I'll try to release them as soon as possible and you can read them as you wish. ❤️

Peter & Loki

"Isn't it beautiful?" Peter shouted, dreamily looking around, at the beautifully decorated New York and the falling flakes that fell to the ground, the surrounding buildings and their hair. Peter adored Christmas because he could have been close with all people he loved that day.

Loki grinned scornfully and thrust his hands deep into the pockets of his black coat. He wasn't cold, but Peter said he should take his coat because otherwise, he would attract the attention of passers-by who would find it strange that he was dressed so lightly in the winter. "I've seen more beautiful things before," he said, frowning at the passing young girl, who gave him a look.

"Like?" Peter asked, looking back at him with a question and eagerness in his eyes.

"Like the blood of my enemies," Loki replied quite calmly, a satisfied smile on his face as he remembered the memory.

"That must have been amazing—"

"It was."

"- but it's Christmas. And for at least that day, you could be a peaceful human being," he grinned at him, and the fires of grate appeared in his eyes.

"Ah, we already have one big problem. I'm not a human being," Loki grinned, scornfully, glancing contemptuously at the horribly garnished shop windows that were meant to attract customers.

"Don't take my word for it," Peter sighed, then waved. "They won't have any good here. Well, maybe they will, but not for Mom. Mom has to get some special present," he thought aloud, looking a little disappointed.

"You're right that we have to get something special for Mom — for your mom," he added quickly so Peter did not notice it, "Of course I'd be happy to leave her one of my best knives, but I'm afraid your father probably didn't like it too much... "

"There's going to be something to it," Peter agreed, and before Loki could notice, he threw a snowball at him, which immediately splattered on his chest. Loki looked at him in disbelief, but Peter just laughed. "It's Christmas and it's snowing. We have to use it before it will-" He didn't even have time to finish his sentence, because Loki also threw a snowball at him at that moment in return. "That was not nice!" he exclaimed as he wiped the icy snow from his face, but he laughed.

Loki grinned, and hurriedly set out, avoiding Peter's flying snowballs. They managed to throw snow almost all the way, and neither of them got tired. Peter awakened in him his sleeping child's self, which he had to suppress and not develop in full in the past.

"Loki, look!" Peter called to him now, shaking off the snow. Loki proved to be a good opponent, but Peter also quite surprised Loki with all sorts of tricks he could do without magic. "Look!" He pointed to the shop window and they walked over to her. It was a goldsmith's, and apparently, they had the best — yet quite decent — jewelry on display.

The two dark-haired men exchanged glances and knew they were thinking the same thing. Peter pressed his face to the glass and Loki looked at the selection fondly. "Which one will come best for you?" Peter asked. He didn't know where to look first, and then he looked up eagerly at Loki. Loki carefully chose which one would come best — and then he caught his eye.

"Look, this one," he told him, pointing to a thin gold chain with a small heart-shaped pendant.

"It's perfect," Peter breathed, completely enchanted. This was the perfect gift.

They both smiled at each other.

This necklace was made for Pepper.
