Chapter 4
Marc made it back to his apartment. Made sure to put the Moon Knight suit away to wash later.
Now was the time for Mr Knight.
Recently, Marc has been keeping the mask on more often when they aren’t doing anything.
Picking up some things, Mr Knight left the apartment and paced the streets.
They rounded a corner and saw someone about to be taken by what seemed to be a Vampire.
Instantly, Mr Knight threw the crescent discs at them. They turned around and saw who it was, making them scurry away in fear.
“You gonna go after them?” The person asked from the ground.
“No. I have better things to do.” Mr Knight spun around to leave.
“Like what?”
Marc sighed, throwing his hands in his pockets. “Listen. I’ve just met some of the avengers and now I want to make sure they don’t make me an enemy.”
“You are pretty extreme man.”
“Honestly I have nothing to lose if the worst happens.” Marc shrugged.
“Hey man, you wanna talk about it?”
“I have a therapist for that. Says they can ‘cure me’ or ‘fix’ me cause of my dissociative identity disorder. When I literally have a god in my head, plus two others.” Marc sat down next to them.
“Yeesh, think you need a new therapist.”
“Probably.”
They sat there like that for about 5 minutes before Marc heard footsteps getting closer.
“Hey, can I ask for your number? If you wanna just talk or something?” The person asked.
Marc stared blankly at him until it registered that someone was asking for his number.
“Oh, yeah. Alright.” They started writing them down, Marc wrote it in blood since neither had a pen.
“You not have a phone?”
“Not on me.”
“Fair enough.”
Marc looked up then back down to write the last number. “You aren’t one of those who’ll gain my trust then use it to break me even more are you?”
“No. That sounds like it would take effort.”
“Probably does. Happened a couple times to me. Just wanna make sure.”
“I’m Danny. What should I call you?”
“Mr Knight will do.”
Danny leaned to the side, focusing on something behind Marc. “Oh hey it’s Hawkeye!”
“What?”
“Was he following you or something?”
“I hope not.” Mr Knight turned around and glared at Clint through the mask. “Clint.”
“Who’re you?”
“You can call me Mr Knight. Or a ghost if you’d prefer.” He did a faint bow.
“It’s you!”
“What do you mean by that.”
“The hooded guy from last night.” Clint said.
“I’m Mr Knight. Ain’t the same thing.”
“But do you know them?”
“No idea who you’re talking about.” Marc spoke.
He turned back around to face Danny. “Why don’t you go on home now.”
“What if that vampire comes back?”
Marc groaned then. “I’ll take you to a safe space after he’s gone.”
“Hawkeye, can you leave now. I’d like to go home and I don’t want you following me.”
“Yeah yeah. Alright.”
Marc had taken Danny to his apartment. Being that no one knows he lives there plus it was closer.
“This your place?” Danny asked.
“Yes. Now, you didn’t get bit or turned earlier did you?”
“No, they just got up close to me face. They would of if you hadn’t shown up. Hey, did you actually know who Hawkeye was talking about?”
“Yeah, me. I’m Mr Knight right now. Just didn’t want to deal with him or the Avengers.”
“You on their bad side it something?” Danny asked.
“I don’t know. One night I’m enjoying my time smashing people’s heads in, the next Spider-Man appears and warns them about me.
Spider-Man’s a kid anyway! I met them earlier today. At the Avengers tower. Out of mask.”
“Spider-Man’s a kid?!” Danny gasped.
“Exactly.”
“Thanks for letting me stay here. You could of just left me. You know, go about your day as usual.”
“I’m tired. I might forget you’re even here.” Mr Knight laid down on the bed. Danny laid on the floor, with some blankets.
Morning arrived, waking Danny up with a groan. He looked over to Mr Knight. They seemed to be still asleep. Danny thought he should wake them up, inform them that they’ll be leaving.
He goes over and gently nudges them. “Hey, wake up.”
In an instant, Danny was pulled down and pinned below them.
“Oh it’s you.” He realised. “Marc said you’d be staying here until we sort out the problem with that vamp.”
“Who’s Marc?” Danny replied.
“Oh, yeah. Marc’s technically dead so...”
“What are you talking about?”
“I’m Jake. Marc’s the one that never takes this thing off.” Jake pulled the mask off and took in a breath. “You know, the others don’t trust me that much.”
Danny finally remembered what Mr Knight had said the night before. That they had dissociative identity disorder.
“Hey can you get off me please.” Danny requested.
Jake climbed off and sat down on a chair.
“Why don’t they trust you?”
“Things I’ve done. I mean, Marc does terrible things. But me, I’m worse. They found out what I was hiding from them.”
“You should stay here while I need to do something.” Jake didn’t wait for a reply before heading out the door and locking it.
He made it to the alleyway that Marc had found Danny. There was no tracks, no nothing. Hopefully Blade had ran into it, Jake thought. He decided to visit Blade. See if there’s something going on.
After a while, Jake hopped out the taxi, paid the fare and strolled up to Blades current hideout.
It took a few seconds before Blade appeared on the other side.
“Hey B!” Jake greeted. “How’s the vamps these days?”
“What do you want?”
“Can we talk?” Jake asked.
“Don’t you have a therapist for that.”
“About vampires.” He stated.
Blade opened the gates and allowed Jake to enter.

“Who am I talking to right now?” Blade asked once they sat down.
“Jake.”
“Listen, last night Marc came across someone seeming to be targeted by a vampire. So now his new little bf is staying in our place until we can sort it out.”
“So you want my help with...what exactly?” Blade trailed off.
Jake sighed. “Find out who they are. Find out what they want from them and if it’s bad, which is always, then we kill them.”
“Alright. But if I’m helping you, can you do something for me?”
“Depends.”
“We do this my way. No wasting time.”
