Chapter 2

Morning arrived and Peter dreaded the talk he’s going to get from the others about last night. That’s if they also know.

Tony was already up, which was surprising since he’s always the last one to wake up.

“Hey Pete” he greeted from the couch.

Peter went over to join.

“Sorry about last night. All day my spidey sense made me on edge as if something bad was going to happen. But I just didn’t know when.”

“It’s ok, but if you think about sneaking out next time, just please. Please wear the suit I made you. It’s got a heater in. Why on earth would you not want to wear a suit with a built in heater?”

“I um...I came across someone last night.” Peter mumbled.

“What kind of someone?”

“They were violently beating up people. They wore all white, at least I think it was. They were covered in blood and had spikes on their fists. They also had these crescent shaped things that they threw at me.”

Tony shuffled over and wrapped his arms around Peter. “I’m glad you’re alright.”

“Why wouldn’t I be?”

“If you see them again, do not interact with them.”

“You know who it was?”

“No, but I’m going to find out.” Tony got up and made himself a cup of coffee.

“Anyway, I had a meeting the other day. I asked the guy round for a drink. They’ve helped with Stark industries for about a month now.”

“Oh ok. Just don’t get too drunk.” Peter joked.

— 🌙 —

Steven Grant made his way into the Avengers tower. At the front desk, the woman phoned for someone to show him up.

What he didn’t expect was Tony himself escorting him up.

“Hey Steven! Thanks for coming, I appreciate the help you’ve done over this last month.” Tony patted him on the back while guiding him to the elevator.

“You’re welcome, thanks for asking me over for a drink. Think I need it tonight.” Steven laughed.

“Don’t we all.”

The doors opened and Tony made his way over the the kitchen to pour some drinks. He handed one to Steven who gladly began drinking it.

“You don’t mind if the others join do you?” Tony asked.

“Not at all.” Steven replied.

After about 10 minutes of Tony and Steven talking, Cap walked through the door, along with Peter.

“This is Steven Grant. He’s helped Stark Industries out a lot.” Tony gestured to Steven.

“Nice to meet you Mr Grant, I’m Steve.” Steve shook his hand.

“And this is Peter, he is the smartest kid I know.” Tony smiled towards him.

“Is he your kid?” Steven asked.

“It’s kind of like a joint custody between me and his Aunt. But he is a son to me.”

Sam was the next one to walk through the door. But after seeing Tony and alcohol near each other, he went back through the door.

“Hey Steve, you want a drink?” Tony asked.

“No thank you.”

After about an hour of them talking, Steven began to space out for a minute.

“Hey you ok?” Cap had asked after seeing the smile fade from his face.

Marc had returned.

“Are you real?” Marc had asked Steve.

“What?” Steve blinked.

“Are you actually here right now or...” He had trailed off after looking around the room, eyes landing on Tony.

“So what is it that you do around here? The avengers I mean?”

“We avenge. The avengers were made to help people and fight the battles no one else can.”

Marc looked directly at Tony when saying this. “But you were the cause of more than one of those weren’t you?” Marc twitched to a slight smirk.

“Excuse me?” Tony gasped. “I may have caused some problems but that wasn’t intentional.”

“Really? So what about Ultron? You and Banner created that.”

“Are you drunk?” Tony stared at Marc with a blank face.

“Ah, forget it. And I’m not drunk.” Marc slouched on the couch.

Tony stood next to Steve.

“Somethings not right with Steven. He asked if I was real.” Steve whispered.

“I mean, you are Captain America. Probably just shocked to be in your presence or something.”

“No, I think it was something else. He really didn’t care until he realised I was real.”

“Do you think he’s drunk—“ Steve was cut off by Marc laughing quietly to himself.

“I agree.”

“Yeah, neither do I.”

“No.”

“What? Can you just leave me alone for tonight?”

“Who’s he talking to?” Tony furrowed his brows together.

Marc had been talking with Khonshu and Jake who appeared in the front of them.

J: “Those two should get a room.”

M: “I agree.”

K: “I don’t like Stark that much.”

M: “Yeah, neither do I.”

K: “Can we leave now?”

M: “No.”

Cap was about to walk over until they all heard Clint stumble over to the couch.

“Hey.” Tony called out. “You alright? How was it?”

“Uh...” Clint groaned.

He turned his head to Marc.

“Hey.” He gave a small wave.

“Clint, this is Steven Grant. I invited him over for a drink.” Tony leaned against the counter.

Marc sighed and rested his head on the back of the couch, but looks down at Clint. “It’s Marc now. Marc Spector.”

They all exchanged confusing looks until Clint let out a sound of realisation.

Tony still looked a bit confused. “So...”

Marc sighed and cut him off. “I have DID.”

“Well uh, it’s good to meet you Marc. Want a drink?”

“Yeah, Steven isn’t really a drinker. Not like Jake.” Marc joked.

Marc looked away to face Khonshu who was now standing behind the couch. They had to fully turn around.

“I can’t.”

“Don’t you dare!”

“I can’t deal with you right now!”

Clint turned around to see what Marc was talking to, only to see no one there.

“Everything alright Marc?”

“Probably. I gotta go. It’s getting late.”

“You sure? You can stay here if you want. There’s spare rooms.” Tony offered.

“I can’t.” Was all they said.

“I’ll drive you home then. Where do you live?”

“I have a small apartment.”

They both left to get in the car.

After a while they arrived outside the apartment. “Thanks for the drink. Goodnight.” After that, Marc made their way up to the apartment.
