Chapter 4
As they are walking in the halls of The Compound.. The Rogues keep their heads down. Its hard for them, to see their former home in this state. Abandoned…
They walk through the kitchen and Wanda flinches when she sees the large hole. Steve sadly shakes his head.
Wanda told Steve, that before Clint came, she was thinking about signing The Accords. She was pissed at Tony for keeping her “locked up” at The Compound, but Natasha explained to her, why it was needed from her, to keep a low profile.
The Public wanted Wanda’s head on a silver plate, there were even talks about her being deported back into Sokovia.
Steve wishes that he just let Tony deal with it…
The whole time they walk, Tony doesn’t even glances at them. Not even once. He just keeps whispering about something with his Daughter.
That was a shock to all of them. Neither of them thought that Tony had a kid, but it was revealed, that it’s just Friday in physical body.
All of them have to give it to Tony.. He truly is a genius. Friday looks exactly as a normal human girl, it’s mind blowing.
All of them noticed, that she was glaring at them whenever she glanced up on them. Neither of them can really blame her. She was there in Siberia after all…
They finally reach the War Room and inside is Spider-Man hanging from the ceiling and Bruce sitting in a chair below him.
“Bruce..” Natasha greets softly with a small smile.
Bruce doesn’t smile back at them, but nods in greetings. He stands up and comes to stand beside Tony at the opposite side of them. Silently showing them on who’s side he is.
“Fury told you what’s happening?” Tony asks with a blank face and they all nod.
“Good, then you understand that under no circumstances can we mess this up”
“Did you read my letter?” Steve asks while looking hesitantly at Tony who scoffs and rolls his eyes.
So you really want to did this now Rogers? Fine.
“You mean that stupid letter full of excuses? Yeah I read it.”
Steve looks down “Yeah.. I know it was bad… I’m not sure what I was thinking when I wrote it.”
“Did you tell them what happened in Siberia? Or did you decide to “spare them” too?” Tony pressed on, glaring at Steve, who again, looks down in shame.
“We saw the footage” Sam decides to interfere with a soft voice and Tony’s eyes narrow at Steve.
So he didn’t tell them. Pfff… Once a liar always a liar.
“Tony…” Natasha tries to say something, but Tony doesn’t care.
His glowing and angry eyes snap toward her within a second and she immediately shuts up, looking at him with a shocked expression. The others also stare at him with wide eyes.
“Shut up Romanoff.” He growls and eyes stop glowing after a few seconds. He signs and runs a hand thou his hair.
“Let’s just go back on track before I do something I’ll regret.”
“What was that… with your eyes?” Sam asks with shocked and curious voice
“Thank to your Friend over here” He points at Steve. “I had to be injected with Extremis Virus.”
“…Why?” Steve asks in guilty whisper. He is dreading the answer, but he needs to know…
That makes everyone from Tony’s side of the room to look at Steve in disbelief and as if he was crazy.
“You slammed your shield against his already weakened chest with enough force to break the reactor of the suit. What did you think was gonna happen, you idiot?” Friday snaps and her eyes flash the same color as Tony’s did.
“You- you were moving, I thought-“ Steve tries to defend himself with a silent voice
Tony just stares at him with dangerously narrowed eyes that are flickering between blue and brown.
“I was freezing in Siberia for the whole day until Vision managed to find me. I had broken ribs, penetrated lung and my chest pretty much collapsed! According to Helen, I had only days….”
They were all looking at him with horrified expressions and Rogers even looked close to tears. Good.
“I’m sorry…” Steve whispers, but “sorry” doesn’t fix anything
“Perhaps we should focus at the task at hands now?” Bruce suggest, not wanting this to continue anymore.
Just in that moment, a portal opens up and in walks Dr. Strange and Wong. The Rogues immediately look ready to fight, but stop when Tony moves in to shake Strange’s hand.
“Doctor” Tony greets
“Stark. How is the reunion going?”
“Wonderful” Tony answers sarcastically.
Just then and alarm goes off and Jocasta’s worried voice comes rushing through the speakers.
“Chief! Something just entered Earth’s atmosphere, it’s coming right here!”
“Give us a visual Jo!” Tony orders and a hologram of ugly ringed alien ship appears. It’s hovering directly before The Compound.
Nobody even breaths as some beam shots down towards Earth and out of it step three figures.
Bruce went pale: "Oh God..." he whispered, "It's him... He's already here..."
Tony turns towards Strange with a small smirk
“Well Doc… should we go and introduce ourselves?”
Strange mirrors Tony’s smirk and nods, opening a portal directly outside the Compound.
“Bruce, Friday, Spidey, Wong you are with us. Jo monitor that ship. You guys stay here and wait” Tony orders and goes through the portal.
“Tony wait!” Steve yells behind him, but the portal closes. He signs in annoyance and Jocasta turn on a camera feed for them to monitor the situation.
“Friday? What’s Carol’s and the others status?” Tony asks as they are walking toward The Aliens who are waiting for them.
“I don’t know. I tried to call them, but they aren’t responding” Friday answers
Tony signs “Wonderful…Bruce, you recognize these guys?”
Bruce nods “Those two were with Thanos when he attacked us, but I haven’t seen that blue woman in white before”
“Hear me, and rejoice. You are about to die at the hands of the Children of Thanos. Be thankful, that your meaningless lives are now contributing to…” Ebony Maw start to monolog, but Tony interrupts him.
“I’m sorry, Earth is closed today. You better pack it up and get outta here.”
Ebony Maw is looking at him in disbelief and annoyance while the blue woman chuckles behind him.
Maw narrows his eyes and turns towards Strange “Stone keeper… Does this chattering animal speak for you?“
Strange steps forward and raises two magical shields on his arms “Certainly not. I speak for myself. But you’re trespassing in this city and on this planet.”
“It means get lost Squidward!” Tony shouts and Maw against turns to him with a glare while the woman behind him openly laughs.
Maw grits his teeth and turns towards Cull Obsidian “He exhausts me. Bring me the Stone”
Obsidian growls and starts to walk towards the heroes. Tony glances at Bruce with a smile
“Banner, you want a piece?”
Bruce shakes his head “No, not really, but when do I ever get what I want?”
Tony smirks and claps him at the shoulder “That’s right.”
Bruce starts to slowly turn green, but The woman from behind Maw smirks and her eyes glow purple for a moment. Bruce feels lightheaded and then freezes in fear.
"Been a while. Good to have you back, big guy," Tony says while looking toward the aliens, completely obvious as to what’s happening with Bruce.
“Dad?…” Friday mumbles as she and the others are staring at Bruce beside her. Tony turns towards her and notices Bruce slowly falling to his knees.
"What- what's she doing to him? What's happening!?" Tony asked, clearly unsettled, helping Bruce back up.
Strange narrows his eyes “Damn it.. She got in his head. Wong!”
“Right” Wong nods and together, they create some magic blast and send it towards the woman. Maw steps in front of her and protects them both with his own magic and Obsidian starts running at them.
Tony pushes Bruce into Peter’s arms and goes to meet Obsidian in his path. The Rogues are watching the feed from inside with worried expression because Tony doesn’t have his suit.
As Tony is walking his eyes start to glow and from the Arc Reactor on his chest nano-particles start forming his suit.
Just as Obsidian swings a hit at him, his suit fully materialized and a shield formed on his arm. Iron Man blocks the hit and punches Obsidian in the face, who stumbles one step back. Just then some weapons form from Iron Man’s back and his arms turn into canons.
He fires at Obsidian sending him flying back at his companions, but before he can hit them, Maw flicks his fingers and throws Obsidian to the side.
The Weapons dematerialized and Iron Man came to stand in his whole glory.From inside The Compound, The Rogues are staring at the camera feed with wide eyes. Tony is even more powerful then before.
The Woman is looking at Tony with realization and interest. She smirks to herself and turns to leave.
Evony Maw turns to her with shocked expression “Supergiant? Where are you going?
“My work here is done. Bring me that Stone.” Supergiant says with a smirk, not even turning to him. Then the beam takes her back to the ship. Maw glares, but turns his attention back towards the fight.
Friday’s helmet snaps into its place and she and Tony fly towards Maw, but he uses his magic sending them both into the air.
Strange turns toward Bruce who is slowly coming up to his senses “Dr. Banner, if your green friend won’t be joining us…”
A portal opens below Bruce and Bruce falls thou it and lands before The Rogues.
“Bruce you okay?” Steve asks as he helps Bruce up.
Bruce shakes his head “That woman did something.. I.. I can’t turn into The Hulk”
Maw attacks Strange and Wong by throwing some parts of cars at them, but they block using their shields while Rescue, Iron Man and Spider-Man are fighting against Cull Obsidian.
Strange flickers one of the projectiles back at Maw, cutting his face. Maw groans in pain as he looks up and mutters “Send them out”
A roar is hears from the ship as it opens and out of flies an army of Chitauri.
The Rogues watch in horror as The Chitauri surround the Compound and start to attack Iron Man, Rescue, Spider-Man, Dr Strange and Wong.
Steve looks toward his teammates with determined look “They need help. Let’s go”
