Chapter 5
The situation was much worse then Tony anticipated. Sure, he expect a resistance from such an ugly ship, but he didn’t expect full swarm of Chitauri.
Tony tries not to dwell at the fact, that he tried to warn his ex-teammates that they would come back and this would happen years earlier.
Did they listen to him? No.
If he wasn’t busy with shooting aliens, he would totally take his time and rub this in their faces.
Tony can’t also help himself, but to think back to the conversation they had after Ultron attacked them, back at the Tower.
“How are you guys planning on beating this?”
“Together”
Yeah, right. The Ultimate Power Of Friendship will save them all…
Iron Man and The Rescue are holding their own in the air, but Spider-Man is quicky loosing ground against the Chitauri. That is, until The Rogues rush outside.
Sam joins Friday and Tony in the Air. Wanda, Natasha and Steve join Peter on the ground while Strange and Wong continue to fight against Ebony Maw.
Steve and Natasha are fighting closely to each other, Steve doesn’t have his shield and Natasha, as good as she might be, is still a baseline human with guns. On the other hand, Wanda is throwing the Chitauri left and right without any problems and Sam is doing his best to cover Friday and Tony’s backs.
But, Peter is having problems… The Chitauri managed to cut him off from the others and he is being quickly overwhelmed. Tony notices this and as he is flying to help him, Cull Obsidian threw his hammer at Tony, sending him crushing to the ground.
Peter is trying his best to hold on, but a Chitauri manages to hit him in the back and they quickly gang up on him, attacking him while he is on ground.
His Suit is being ripped apart and he is about to start panicking, but then The Chitauri are thrown away from him and Steve Rogers offers him a helping hand. Peter takes it and nods in gratitude.
“You okay Queens?” Steve asks the younger hero
“Yeah… I just need to catch my breath.”
“You might not have that option.” Steve says, while looking over the Chitauri, that are circling around them with worried look. Peter signs in annoyance and exhaustion. As the Chitauri start to run at them, Peter thinks to himself.
This really isn’t my day…
“Peter jump!” Friday yells while shooting another Chitauri and Peter listens. He jumps over the horde and a Golden Spider lunches itself from Friday’s armor and attaches itself to Peter’s back mid air.
From the Spider, Nano Particles start to spread around Peter’s body, forming a metallic Spider Suit. As Peter lands in his iconic pose, his hud inside his mask changes. It looks more Iron Man like and has a nice gold glow.
“Iron Spider Mark II online. It seems that we have an upgrade Peter.” Karen’s cheerful voice rings from Peter’s new suit as he starts to check himself out.
The Suit is made of the same stuff that Wasp’s suit is made of, covered with extra platings that look like peaces from an Iron Man suit.
The Suit is painted in metallic red and blue and has a large, glowing gold, Spider symbol on it’s torso. It also has unmoving and larger eyes, that also glow the same color as the symbol on his chest.
“Wow.. It smells like a new car in here!”
“Yeah… Boss wanted to give it to you on your birthday party….” Friday says over the comms.
“I don’t know what to say... It’s awesome! Is that… ” Peter starts to ramble with a smile
“I hate to break this adorable moment… but focus on the fighting!” Natasha’s annoyed voice chimes in.
“Right…” Peter mumbles as he sees Steve having difficulties against a group of five Chitauri.
He quickly moves for an attack, webbing two before pulling one towards him and blasting him with his repulsor. Meanwhile, Steve
manages to win against the remaining two Chitauri and he takes a quick look over Spider-Man’s new Suit.
Even Steve must admit, that it looks pretty badass.
Tony groans as he is thrown into then ground. Before he can pick himself up, Cull Obsidian jumps right before him and sucker punches him, sending him crashing to the tree.
Okay… Tony had enough.
He sits up, leaning against the tree and just when Obsidian moves for an another punch, both of Tony’s arms form into a large cannon, shooting Obsidian into another tree.
“Jo? How far are they?” Tony asks while quickly jumping to his feet and flying at Obsidian with a formed nano-sword.
“ETA in 20 seconds”
Tony manages to slash Obsidian on his leg, making him roar in anger as he swing a punch on Tony’s head, who dodges.
Tony then blast both of his repulsors to the ground, sending him up in air. He lands further from Obsidian and as he stands up to his full hight, the new Iron Legion finally arrives, hovering behind him.
This makes everyone stop and look at the new incomers. The Rogues watch in shock, they thought that after Ultron, Tony scrapped the Iron Legion Program.
Well, he clearly didn’t. Or maybe, he reopened it while they were on the run.
The design of the legionnaires didn’t change that much, they are just painted in Tony’s signature Red and Gold and without an Avengers Logo.
Just then, War Machine, Vision and two women, that Fury told The Rogues are called The Wasp and Captain Marvel show up and land behind Tony, who throws his arms up in dramatic gesture, looking like a god that is about to release his angels of death.
Which might be an correct example…
When Tony’s arms drop, the whole Legion moves in to attack their enemies, evening the odds.
Wong and Doctor Strange are still fighting against Maw. Maw lifts several bricks from the ground and turns them into sharp points. He sends them towards Wong and Strange. The two make portals and send them back towards Maw.
Maw moves a car to protect himself, he uses his other hand to send a part of a fence flying at Wong.
Wong doesn’t notice this attack and is hit in the back, hard. He is knocked back into the rubble, falling to the ground unconscious.
Strange flies forward to fight Maw in hand to hand combat, but is knocked back into a wall, bricks trapping him.
“Your powers are quaint. You must be popular with children.” Maw says with a taunting smirk
He tries to tear the amulet that houses the Time Stone from Strange’s neck, but when he touches it, he jerks back as it burned his hand.
Strange smirks “It’s a simple spell but quite unbreakable.”
“Then I’ll take it off your corpse.” Maw growls at him.
Maw pulls Strange away from the building and throws him to the ground. Several wires leap around around different parts of Strange’s body. One cord, is slowly tightening around his neck
“You’ll find…removing a dead man’s spell… Troublesome.” Strange chokes out
“You’ll only wish you were dead.” Maw promises as Strange falls unconscious.
Maw is about to grab him, but, The Cloak of Levitation manages to free Strange’s body and flies with him away.
“No!” Maw yells
As Peter and Steve are still fighting against the remaining Chitauri, Strange passes by them, with Maw following closely behind.
Peter doesn’t waste anytime and quickly follows after them. Maw attacks him, throwing him through a statue of Avengers Logo.
“Not cool” Peter yells and Maw is about to attack him again, but Wanda manages to intercept his attack and send it back at him. She and Peter exchange a look and Peter quickly runs after Strange.
Just as Peter finally manages to catch up to Strange’s unconscious body a tractor beam from the ship shoots down on them, pulling them both in the air.
“Mr. Stark? I’m being beamed up.”
Tony stops from attacking Obsidian and he and Carol exchange a look.
“Tony…” Carol warns, but it’s to late, he is already flying towards the ship.
She signs, shaking her head, mumbling “Dammit…” and quickly following after him.
Seeing what’s happening, Friday and Hope also fly up to follow after them. But, since Hope isn’t fast enough, Friday offered to give her a lift.
Rhodey and Sam also move to follow, but Sam’s wings were shot by one of Chitauri and he went crushing towards the ground.
Sam was thinking that this was the end, as his parachute didn’t open. He was going to die the same way Riley did, crushing down. He closed his eyes, accepting his fate, but before he actually hit the ground, Rhodey managed to catch him.
“I got you”
“Thank you…” Sam whispers as Rhodey puts him on the ground.
Just as Rhodey is about to fly back up a hammer tackles him to the ground and Sam turn and sees Obsidian running at them. As he leaps into the air, an orange portal opens up before him and he falls through, landing in the snowy Arctic.
He tries to jump back inside the portal, but it closes, cutting his hand off and making both Rhodey and Sam in disgust. Wong just shrugs.
Just then, Maw lands behind them.
Vision was also about to follow behind the others, but before he could, a golden spear went right through his chest.
He fell to his knees as his system started to crash and Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive came to stand beside him. Glaive teared his spear from Vision’s chest, making him cry out in pain and Proxima kicked him to the ground.
Glaive then thrust his spear into Vision’s head, trying to rip The Mind Stone apart.
He and Proxima exchanged a look, they were trying to locate The Mind Stone for the whole day. The humans were stupid when they decided to bring the Stones together.
Vision cries in pain and then Wanda shows up and blasts both Proxima and Glaive of Vision, then propels Vision and herself into the air and lands them behind a rouble.
“Vis…” She whispers in guilt, referencing what she did to him during “Civil War”
“The blade. It stopped me from phasing.” Vision chokes out
“Is that even possible?” She asks shocked
“It isn’t supposed to be. My systems are failing…”
Glaive suddenly arrives behind Vision and punches Wanda in the chest, sending her flying to the ground.
Vision pins Glaive into the rouble, but he gets easily free from Vision grasp and throws him aside. Vision tries to use the beam from the mind stone, but Glaive blocks it with his spear, deflecting it back at Vision.
Wanda manages to pick herself up, but Proxima is already standing next to her, holding her own spear against Wanda’s head. Wanda uses her magic to deflect the bolt that Proxima shoots at her head, but Proxima quickly kicks her into the chest and Wanda falls back down.
Glaive advances at Vision, but suddenly, Steve appears before him and punches him in the face. Glaive growls at The Super Solider and quickly moves for an attack, but Natasha uses her widow bites, temporarily stunning him. But, Glaive quickly recovers and grabs both Steve and Natasha by the necks, lifting them from ground.
“Pete, you gotta jump down. I’m gonna catch you.” Tony says to comms, hoping that the kid will listen to him.
“No! If they get The Wizard they get the Stone!”
“Dammit” Tony curses under his breath as Carol catches up to him.
“Kids…” She offers jokingly, making Tony’s lip twitch upwards
On the ship, Supergiant watches as some Chitauri pick up Strange’s body and smirks to herself in victory.
“Put him in Prison deck, make sure he is comfortable” She says the last part sarcastically and they nod at her, following her command and dragging Strange away.
“I have the Time Stone, I’m taking it back to Titan” She says over the comms, not knowing about the web crawler, silently watching from the ceiling.
“Pete, where the hell are you?“ Tony whisper-shouts as He, Hope, Friday and Carol land in the hangar of the Ship.
“Here.”
They all jump in surprise as Peter drops from the ceiling beside them.
“Do you know where Strange is?” Tony asks
Peter nods “That lady… Supergiant, send him into the prison deck”
“Good job. Happy trails, kid. Karen, send him home," Tony orders
"Yup," Karen replied to Tony’s order, deploying Peter's parachute.
"Aw, come on!" Peter protested as he was launched off the ship.
Friday chuckled and both Carol and Hope smiles in little amusement.
“You too, Friday. Return back to ground, now.” Tony suddenly said, surprising the younger girl.
"What!?" She couldn't have heard right, could she?
“He is right hon, It's too dangerous this time," Carol insists while looking at her with pleading eyes.
"Exactly! That’s why I have to stay and help!" Friday protests
"I don't want you to get hurt! I need you to-" Tony starts, but then a strange sound is heard and the ship shakes. It’s moving.
“What was that?” Hope asks
Carol signs knowing that Friday can’t go back now “We just left Earth’s atmosphere. The engines are preparing for a space jump.
Outside Peter is climbing on his web, back towards the ship.
"You just had to web yourself to the ship, didn't you?" Karen asked in clear “I’m done with everything” voice.
“Sorry..” Peter mumbles softly, in apologizing manner as he crawls back inside the ship.
Maw throws Rhodey, Sam and Wong using his magic to the ground, next to them lands Natasha and Steve and not far from behind them is lying Wanda.
Glaive still has Vision in his grasp as Proxima is standing next to him.
“I have the Time Stone, I’m taking it back to Titan” Supergiant voice comes ringing from the comms.
“Make it quick” Maw orders Glaive, who growls in annoyance, but moves to tear the Mind Stone from Vision’s forehead. Before he can actually do it, a shot goes right through his left side of the lower torso and he falls towards the ground, groaning in pain.
The Iron Legion finished the rest of the remaining Chitauri off and Jocasta directed them towards the remaining Black Order members. Seeing the Heroes rise up and Iron Legion aiming their weapons at them. Maw decides to retreat and opens a portal, while Proxima drags Glaive through it.
They Heroes all let out a breath of relief and look towards the sky. The ship suddenly blasts away, leaving them all looking shocked and afraid for their comrades lives.
