Yeah, Back when My Momma Used to Hold Me
"I've seen my own sun darkened." --Alejandra Pizarnik
Loki could hear Thor snoring.
It was comforting.
After all, he had sneaked into Thor's bed many times when he was a child.
It was dark though.
Thor didn't like the dark.
Loki reached out for him, but he felt something small and warm. "Thor?"
Thor's snoring finally came to a stop. "Loki?"
"I-I don't understand I thought--"
Thor threw his arms around him.
Loki hugged him.
"I am so sorry," Thor cried.
Loki didn't say anything. He didn't know what to say so he cried.
Thor and Loki were so lost in their world that they did not notice Sleipnir toddling over to them.
Loki's youngest laid his head on Loki's lap.
Through an ocean of tears, Loki gathered Sleipnir into his arms.
Fenrir leaped into Loki's arms.
Jörmungandr slithered into Loki's arms.
Narfi and Vali whined until Thor helped them get closer.
The only one who stayed back was Hel.
She had never seen her oma before.
"H-Hel?" Loki's voice broke.
"What?" She asked.
"What's your name?" Loki asked.
"I don't have a name," she replied.
Loki choked back a sob. "Your name is Hel."
"How do you know?" She asked.
"You're my baby," Loki explained.
Crying, Hel fell into Loki's arms.
Loki had dreamed of this.
But a dream couldn't compare to this.
Thor looked upon the family and felt like an outsider.
But then Loki squeezed his hand. "I can't believe you did this."
"Why did you never tell me?" Thor asked.
"I'll tell you everything," Loki whispered.
But not now.
The children were too young to hear.
"What happens now?" Hel asked.
"We have to get off of Asgard," Thor said.
Loki shivered. “Where can we go that he won’t find us?”
“Midgard,” Thor said. “I have Allie’s on Midgard, and he would not wage war with them.”
Loki shook his head. “The Midgardians would never protect us not after what I’ve done.”
“They will,” Thor growled.
The children whimpered.
Thor sighed. “We cannot stay. His reach is too far, but if he waged war on Midgard, he would reveal his true self.”
Loki nodded.
“If my allies refuse, you will always have me,” Thor promised.
“But what of the throne?” Loki asked.
“It matters not,” Thor said. He had never coveted the throne, and now, he wasn’t sure if he wanted it at all.
Loki was about to say something when footsteps locked their mouths.
Someone was coming ever closer.
