Chapter 3
Sam sits at their kitchen table while he gets his breathing back to normal. His mind is running wild, thoughts bouncing around in his mind like children on a trampoline, unorganized and chaotic.
He thinks about what he’s done. What could have made Bucky do what he did? What exactly did he give Bucky to begin with? Why did Loki even give him that potion?
As if thinking his name brought him to their home, Loki appeared in front of Sam, who was startled because of his abrupt appearance. Loki casually sat down across from him and clasped his hands before resting them on the table.
“Soooo… how is everything, Sam? I assume you are having fun?”
“Having fun?! What was in that potion, Loki?! Bucky…he…he did something and then said he felt like he wasn’t in control. What’s going on?!”
“Relax, Son of Will. The potion is in no way hurting Bucky. It merely affects how he acts. James is still James, he just may seem a bit odd. The potion affects each person very differently. Now, what did he do exactly?”
Sam was hesitant to answer Loki’s question. He never did truly trust him, but who else would know anything about what was going on with Bucky?
“Well… he came into the kitchen after you left and made us both coffee. I was just making breakfast, so I was at the stovetop. Then Bucky came and hugged me from behind and stared kinda… swaying us, I guess? After a few seconds he just sorta stopped and started apologizing. I was-“
“You have nothing to worry about, Sam. It seems the potion has gone into effect. You’re welcome.” Loki started to get up from his chair, but Sam stopped him.
“Wait! We’re not done here. What the fuck was in that potion I gave Bucky?! And why should I thank you?!”
“No need to be so aggressive, Sam. Do you really want to know what the potion is? Really ruins the surprise, don’t you think?”
Sam glared at Loki from across the table.
“I can’t hear you”
.
.
.
“I’ll take that as you wanting to know what it was then?”
Sam nodded, still staring daggers at Loki.
“It was nothing necessarily bad. The potion simply took away his…impulse control, if you will, but only with the person who administered the potion. Because you gave it to James, he won’t be able to stop himself from doing anything he’d normally want to do to you.”
Sam had to pause for a second before going any further. “So, so Bucky, he - he wanted to-“
“Yes, Sam.”
“When does it wear off?”
“Once James does whatever the biggest impulse is to do to you, the potion will wear off.”
“Ok.”
Feeling that their conversation was over, Loki got up and poofed out of the room without a goodbye, once again leaving Sam to freak out.
