Summary
When Loki arrives at Sam and Bucky’s apartment and offers to help them with their ‘relationship’, Sam hesitantly agrees. Loki offers him a vial of some sort of liquid and gives him the chance to give it to Bucky. Sam’s not sure at first, but then thinks about it. Why shouldn’t Sam give it to Bucky? Loki is fine now, it’s not like anything bad could happen and why shouldn’t Sam try to get closer to his partner?-“Ah! Hello Son of Will!” Loki greeted. “You may relax. It is not my intention to harm anyone…today. It really varies from moment to moment, but as of now I am no threat.” “Ummm…ok?” Sam said skeptically. “So, why are you here then?” “It has come to my attention that you and James have been having some relationship issues. I simply wish to help you both if you’ll allow me.”  ‘Relationship issues?’
Note
Loki does not get killed by Thanos in Inifinity War. He tried to help, but got dusted and then brought back five years later.

Chapter Two

Bucky hadn’t left his room since Sam had tucked him in. He slept the rest of the day and never even got up to eat or go to the bathroom. Sam was worrying about Bucky’s condition and whether or not he just killed his partner when he stepped into Bucky’s room to say ‘goodnight’.

Sam didn’t really sleep at all that night. With all the stress the day had brought on, he was hoping he’d be able to just shut down as soon as he hit his pillow, but he wasn’t able to. Sam didn’t go on his morning run and got a later start to breakfast. He still set everything up as if Bucky would just waltz into the kitchen like any other morning.

Instead of Bucky coming in, Loki reappeared before Sam with a half-smile, half-smirk on his face. Sam was fuming at the sight of him.

“Loki.” Sam growled. “What did you do to Bucky?! What did you give him?!”

“Why, Sam? I do not recall giving your James the potion. That was all your doing. And relax. Your ‘Bucky’ is fine. He will wake soon.”

“And what is the potion going to do to him?” Sam questioned.

Loki turned away from Sam and peered down the hall in the direction of Bucky’s room. When he faced Sam again, he was full-on smirking. “You shall see.” Loki said and vanished.

Bucky waltzed in looking, pretty much, like he always did in the morning. His clothes were wrinkled and his hair had curled a little bit and was all over the place. He went straight to the coffee machine.

“Hey, Buck. How are you feeling?” Sam asked as Bucky filled up his mug.

“Better. I think I’m fine now. I don’t know what was wrong.”

Bucky grabbed another mug for Sam and added some sugar and cream, exactly how Sam liked it. He places the cups on the table after taking a sip of his own, and then gets plates for Sam and himself. Sam is finishing up the eggs, when he feels strong arms wrap around his waist and someone’s chin resting on his shoulder.

Bucky is standing, practically nuzzled into Sam’s sweet spot, looking content with a small smile on his lips. As he starts rocking them back and forth, his eyes shoot open and he takes a huge step back from Sam. Sam misses the contact immediately.

“I-I don’t know why I just did that. I didn’t mean to. I-I’m sorry.” is all Bucky says before running back to his room and shutting the door.

Sam is frozen in the kitchen, thinking about what exactly just happened. He doesn’t snap out of it until he hears the eggs burning. Sam turns off the stove and moves the pan before anything worse could happen to their breakfast. Sam takes a minute to sit at the counter top to take it all in. He thought of Bucky and the feeling of his partner around him, his nose in his hair, feeling loved and protected.

He fixes Bucky and himself a plate before grabbing one of the mugs and one of the plates and walking to Bucky’s room. His mind is racing, but he tries to compose himself. Sam knocks on the door with his foot to get Bucky’s attention, without just barging in.

“Hey, Bucky. Can- Can I come in, please?” Sam asks softly.

“Umm… ya, Ya, ok.”

Sam gently pushes the door open and turns to face Bucky. The man is sitting on the floor leaning against the bed, with his knees pulled against him and his head in his hands. He’s avoiding eye contact with Sam and it’s blatantly obvious. Sam sets the food on the floor before Bucky and sits next to him. Bucky shifts slightly away.

They sat in awkward silence for a few minutes while Sam thought of what to say.
He didn’t know what was going through Bucky’s head, so he had no idea what would comfort him. Sam rested his hand on Bucky’s shoulder before talking.

“I- umm… I’m not mad at you or anything if that’s what you're thinking. Are you- are you ok?”

“Ya. I’m alright. I’m really sorry man. I don’t know what came over me. It felt like… never mind.”

“No. What were you gonna say?”

“It felt like I couldn’t stop myself. Like I was in control, but something was there too. I don’t really know how to explain it.”

Sam thinks about what could possibly make Bucky feel like that. He nearly face-palms himself when he thinks about what happened yesterday. Obviously, the potion had something to do with it.

“Hello? Sam!”

“Ya ya ya. Umm… I don’t know Bucky. That’s weird.” Sam quickly replies. He gestures to the food before them in an effort to think about something else.

“I’m gonna let you eat. Ok?” Sam says as he gets up.

“Ok.”

Sam walks out of the room in a calm, orderly manner, and then completely loses his shit once the door is closed.
