The six
The three spideys all jumped up as a shiver ran down their spines, their hair sticking up and the fear setting in. They all tensed and got into fighting poses, all wearily surveying the airport. They were all uncharacteristically quiet, completely focused on locating the threat, but they were confused, as the threat, or threats, were coming from several directions.
Not just where the laugh came from.
From behind the main building, from above, from below, from behind and and on either side.
The cackling and whizzing of the machine grows louder as the threat -one of them- approaches.
The avengers are all prepared to fight.
Hawkeye has his bow drawn.
Black widow has her gun loaded and pointed.
Cap has his shield raised defensively, with Peter just behind him.
The guy with the wings has them in a position, prepared to take off in a second.
The guy that Peter was next to has shrunk.
There is a girl with red mist flowing around her hands, staring off in the distance.
Ironman and War-Machine have their repulers raised.
The man with the metal arm is looking around wearily.
The red android thing is hovering above the ground.
The man in the black cat-suit is standing tall and proud facing in the direction that the cackle came from.
Dr Strange appears to have also noticed the numerous threats as he is facing in a different direction to the other avengers with his hands glowing.
The team are all facing in the direction that the cackle sounded from, seemingly unaware of the other threats looming in the near distance.
That's when the others decide to make themselves known.
Something flies straight for the group.
On a strange glider, and in an even stranger suit.
It has a hideous green mask with an elongated forehead and ears.
With bright yellow eyes staring directly at Peter.
The mask has a horrifying grin, mockingly staring at each of the spider-men.
The thing halts in mid-air.
It stays there staring, it seems to be waiting for something.
The group hears an ear-splitting screech and turns to face that direction.
Not fully taking their attention off of the previous threat.
Something breaks a window in the glass building and comes barreling out, in the direction of the group.
The thing is even scarier than the last.
It is about seven feet tall.
Covered in green slimy scales.
With massive hands scaly with claws the size of daggers.
The thing appears to be a giant lizard.
It too is staring at the spideys, paying no mind to the team.
A grotesque smirk formed on its disfigured face.
The clanging of metal turns their attention to a new threat.
This one is the most human-like so far (though that's not really saying much).
It is a man with four tentacle-like robots sporting from his back.
The man is staring at the group he stops a fair distance away.
Waiting for something, just like the others.
They hear the whirring of more engines and a man swoops down from the sky, in a suit similar to the man with the wings standing beside Peter.
Except this one was far more menacing.
The wings are larger.
The suit is darker.
Attached to his feet there are spikes, impersonating talons.
A black helmet covering his face.
Two glowing green dots where his eyes would be.
Fixated on the spider-men.
Then there's a flash.
Then another.
It's similar to lightning, but Peter can tell it’s not, as the sky hasn't changed.
But then what is it?
The lights group together and glow brighter.
The lights around the airport flicker as more light flies toward the source.
As the light groups, Peter is able to see what it's forming into.
It looks like a man.
Soon the light dims and the man is easy to see.
He's still glowing and occasionally sparks fly off of him.
Just like the others, he keeps his distance and stares.
“See this is when I wish Thor were here,” said Cap in disbelief at what's going on around them.
Then the avengers are surrounded by a yellow mist.
Wait no- it's sand.
It swirls and grows upward blocking the group's view of the other threats.
Leaving them defenseless and unprepared against the threats.
---
The sand swirl grew faster and faster.
It became like a tornado, ripping through anything in its path, the ground cracking and breaking trucks into tiny pieces.
The sand swirls and begins to close in on them.
Forcing the heroes back into a small circle, not wanting to be crushed by the twister.
Once the heroes were in a contained space the sand fell.
It all flew back into one pile, which began to grow upwards.
The sand took the form of a man.
He, like the others, didn't take his eyes off of the spider-men.
The other villains had moved closer and were now surrounding the group.
Not taking their eyes off of the spider-men. Sinister smiles painting each of their faces, a sick glee shining in each of their eyes.
The one with the metal arms is carried forward by his tentacles, they creak and groan under his weight but move forward smoothly.
Black widow points her gun at him when he gets too close.
The strange man didn't even flinch or take his eyes off of the spider-men.
His tentacles move forward and grab the gun out of her hands, crushing it immediately.
She flips backward the second his tentacles grab the gun, pulling another out of her belt and pointing at him again.
Most of the avengers raised their weapons to point at the tentacle man.
The group surrounding them reacted immediately.
The electric man began sparking.
The lizard stood at his full height and screeched again.
The one on the glider flew higher, it was holding some odd glowing balls, Peter could tell they weren't anything good.
The sand began swirling again threateningly.
And the tentacles twisted and snapped closed.
“I suggest you drop your weapons.” The man finally said, his voice cool and controlled, his steely gaze still fixed on the spider-men.
“And why would we do that?” Black widow asked, glaring at the group, her lips pursed, masking her fear and anxiety with her cool exterior.
“We have no reason to fight you, so we will not. All we ask is that you give up all three spider-men to us, then we will leave peacefully. Do we have a deal?” he asked the corners of his lips turning up mockingly.
“We will not give up these three kids to you. We know your intentions.” Cap shouted over, his protectiveness for Peter being evident. He pulled Peter closer to him and used his shield to cover them both.
The man chuckled, humourlessly. “I was afraid you’d say that.”
The sand picked up and began to swirl around the group again.
