This isn't Kansas!
Peter can immediately tell from his ‘tingle’ that he is not in serious danger, still, he has no idea what is going on.
There's this glowing orangey-yellow ring in the sky, and it’s rapidly growing,
“Kid, get down here!” Mr Stark shouts, clearly panicked by the unknown glowy thing.
“Everyone back up!” Cap shouts
Peter, far too transfixed by the lights, doesn't listen.
Till suddenly something grows from Cap's shield… It's a dude?
The guy quickly grasps Peter's hand and leads him away, still transfixed by the lights he allows himself to be led away. When he snaps out of his trance he notices that he’s standing next to Cap, the man that dragged him over there, and those guys that ran out of the building. They too seem in a trance by the strange glowy thing.
The ring then splits into three, each growing rapidly until three figures step out of them, one is floating down wearing a... Cape?
(Didn't Edna Mode specifically say superheroes shouldn't wear capes.)
Then Peter takes a look at the other two figures and gasps… why do they have spidey suits on.
Peter can tell they mean no harm, his ‘tingle’ has never been wrong, so he decides to go and investigate.
Just as he's taking a step forward a hand latches around his upper arm, Peter looks up to see Captain America staring at him looking completely bewildered. Though Peter's probably wearing a similar expression to him under the mask, it took him a lot of willpower not to laugh at the expression he's making.
“..Do you know them, kid?” Cap asks, and the other guys turn to stare at him, wearing the same bewildered look as Cap. Once again Peter has to suppress the urge to laugh, laughing at this very moment would probably be inappropriate, not that Peter normally cares, that's kinda his whole brand as spider-man.
“No- No, sir. I’m the only Spider-man.” Peter replies, just as confused as the rest of them.
“Stay here then, we don't know if they are a threat.” He says while lifting his shield in a defensive manner.
All the avengers get into defensive stances, except for Peter, who is simply curious. He just stands there staring, ready to approach the strange new group and ask a million questions.
Upon seeing that Peter is very likely to go and investigate, Cap tightens his hold on Peter's arm and shuffles in front of the young hero protectively.
The other three men notice this and subtly move to create a circle around Peter, keeping him in place.
Ready to protect him or prevent him from walking towards the potential threat.
Everyone is surprised when the other spider-men also don’t take defensive positions, just standing there awkwardly staring at each other, and then looking around, till they lock eyes with peter.
The two other spider-men have similar, yet totally different suits to him. The one closest to him has a suit that is red and very dark blue with silver detailing in the shape of spiderwebs and a massive black spider symbol on the chest. The other one has an awfully similar design except that the silver detailing is less pronounced and the blue is a lighter shade covering more of the suit. The masks are basically the same, except the first one has reflective lenses on his mask, while the second, much like his suit, has plain white ones. Out of the two, Peter would say the second resembles his current suit more.
Everyone remains frozen in place until the strange man in the cape clears his throat.
“I'm not here to fight, and I am not a threat.” he straightens up to his full height as everyone, except Peter and the other guys in the spider-man suits, remain tense and in fighting positions.
“My job is to prevent threats, not be one.”
“And how are we supposed to trust that, dumbledore.” Mr Stark snarks, repulsors still raised.
“Yes, very creative.” The cape man replies. “I have no way of making you trust me, but I hope you will at least listen, as this concerns the safety of many.
Especially your universe’s spider-man”
All heads whip in Peter's direction.
To which he merely offers a shrug, as he has no idea what's going on either.
And the group surrounding Peter subtly moves in closer.
“Is that a threat?!” Cap says keeping his voice calm, but the aggression underneath is evident.
“Wait- wait, are the two next to you... me from alternate universes.” Peter blurts out, unable to keep his questions to himself.
“Yes.” the cape man replies as if it were just a completely normal conversation.
"So, you're saying there's a multiverse? I thought that was theoretical. That changes how we understand the initial singularity. We're talking about an eternal inflation system. How does that even work with all the quantum-? It's insa-" noticing that everyone is staring he stops his rant. "sorry, it's really cool."
He's lucky that no one can see how red his face has gone from under the mask due to embarrassment.
Looking around he sees most looking completely baffled, except for Mr stark, the weird red flying android thing, and the other two spider-men, who are nodding their heads in approval. Doctor strange just looks irritated.
“This is cool, and all, but you still haven't told us why you're all here!” Mr Stark shouts, his repulsers now glowing ready to fire any second.
“Yeah, I would like to know why I was kidnapped and brought to another universe.” the second one says in a nonchalant tone as if it was just an average Sunday afternoon.
“Yeah no, I agree, that wasn't cool.” the closer spider-man says with the same laid-back tone.
“Right well I guess it's time for an explanation.” the man in the cape says.
