Summary
This is the third in a series, following An Uncertain Future and Healing. The guys are on their way back to New York and Stark Tower. Although Yori Nakajima's death has cancelled the bounty on Bucky's head, he's still wanted by most law enforcement agencies on the planet.Steve, and the rest of the Avengers, are committed to bringing Bucky in from the cold. Bucky just knows that he needs to stop killing, whatever the cost to himself.

Tony drew in a shaky breath and Pepper laid a hand on his arm, steadying him as Steve and Bucky approached.
“Tony,” said Steve calmly.
Tony didn’t answer. His eyes stayed locked on Bucky’s face.
The man looking back at him didn’t look like the merciless automaton who’d attacked Howard and Maria Stark on that lonely nightmare road. He didn’t even look like the man who’d stayed in the Tower the month before.
This man looked – lost.
Tony’s eyes dropped to the animal in Bucky’s arms, then back up at Bucky, confused.
“What the hell is up with the cat?”
