There were days when Enid Addams had to take a step back and simply ask herself— how had she gotten here?
It was a question that could be answered in many different ways, depending on the person.
Enid was covered in sweat. She was shaking and full of dying rage. Her body felt numb and her mind felt scrambled. She couldn’t form proper thoughts or feelings in her current state aside from one; worry.
The alpha was incredibly worried for her mate.
Wednesday Addams— said beloved mate and dearest omega— was in their bedroom surrounded by healers. Enid was camped out in front of the door in the hall, having been ushered out nearly half an hour ago. They weren’t telling her anything. Enid just knew it was bad.
Strong, potent smells of distress and pain lingered in the air all around and finally? After suppressing it for hours on end after the day’s unfortunate events? Enid felt tears finally start flowing. She couldn’t hold them back anymore than she already had been all day.
Enid brought a shaky hand up to mouth to conceal the muffled sob she let out. Her body soon submitted to the overbearing emotional state it was in and she sunk down against the wall beside the bedroom door.
How had she let this happen? Why had she been so foolish and naive to miss all the signs?
Like mentioned before, there were days when Enid Addams had to take a step back and ask herself— how the hell had she gotten here?
Today was one of those days.
—
Well, skipping over years of awkward high school age dating and cliche crime solving date nights— Wednesday Addams and Enid Sinclair got married.
That wasn’t a big surprise to anyone.
Their wedding hadn’t been huge. They didn’t even have guests or a real venue or ceremony. Their wedding was a simple trip down to a courthouse at the edge of town on a random Thursday afternoon for them.
Enid used to think that she wanted a grand wedding— an expensive dress and customized flower bouquets! The whole ten yards!— but after falling for a woman like Wednesday, she grew to become fine with the simpler things. She didn’t even argue when her fiancée, at the time, made it clear she didn’t want their marriage to be a big deal. Enid didn’t care as long it happened. As long as they got married either way it truly didn’t matter.
When the couple got married, no one knew.
Breaking the news was quite.. the experience.
Telling the Addams family went as smooth as it could, as you’d imagine. It was a sunny day in the summer just a few weeks after the secret marriage has occurred. They had just came back from their honeymoon trip to Paris. Wednesday hadn’t exactly wanted a honeymoon but since Enid had agreed so kindly to her request for the wedding, she agreed to let her wife pick a destination for a little trip. Typical Enid had to pick the most cliche place one could go but.. whatever.
The day the news was broken, Wednesday had called all her closest relatives to a family meeting on their visit— announcing rather bluntly that she had important new to share with them.
Enid couldn’t remember much from that day but she swore she’d blacked out multiple times leading up to the actual announcement but she remembered sitting on the Addams family couch, her claws out and threatening to rip the fancy leather on the armrest.
She was sweating and anxiety coursed through her veins with heavy anticipation. It was only her wife’s— God, at the time, it still felt weird.. but really good.. to call Wednesday that. Her wife— parents and brother. Why was she so damn nervous? She knew them!
Maybe it was just her everlasting fear of rejection..
“Everyone is present and accounted for?” Wednesday has said, standing in front of the fire in the living room with her hands clasped in front of her as she looked around the room and counted the heads of those around, yeah, everyone was there.
“Good. I won’t waste anymore of your sacred time with unnecessary anticipation.”
Enid gulped. A little late for that, wasn’t it?
Gomez was sitting beside her. Morticia sat on her husbands other side and Pugsley was standing behind the couch with Thing on his shoulder, looking across the room at his older sister with confusion and curiosity.
“Enid and I got married a few weeks ago.”
Wednesday was straightforward and blunt as always. Enid had expected nothing less, walking into this.
There was a small pause after the initial announcement and Wednesday seized the moment to continue;
“My wife has taken our family name and is officially, legally apart of this family. I’ll expect nothing but acceptance on your end and if any of you have an issue with this news, I could hardly care less.”
Enid’s cheeks were already flushed but hearing Wednesday’s protectiveness shine through? The blush darkened tenfold and she nervous chuckled.
She could feel everyone looking at her..
Fuck! Why weren’t they saying anything?
Finally, Morticia was the one to break the everlasting silence with a small smile and sniffle. Why she crying? Happy tears— hopefully? Yeah, a little bit.
“This is nothing short of splendid news, my darling. I’m glad to hear of this, she’s already been family in our eyes for years now. I’m elated to have it finally be official.”
Enid didn’t expect to hear those words.
They caused her to freeze up slightly. More people began to speak and more words of kindness and acceptance kept pouring out.
“M-my little scorpion finally found true love.” Gomez said in awe— unlike his wife, he didn’t even try to hide his tears and happy sobs— “Instead of the prince or princess, our little deathtrap fell for the ferocious beast..”
Wednesday rolled her eyes at his commentary.
“Father, please.” She muttered, “Get ahold of yourself.”
Gomez sobbed in response and pulled Enid into a tight hug— hug so tight Enid felt like she heard something crack but a hug she accepted and returned nonetheless.
“H-how can I?” He cried into Enid’s head of blonde hair, to which Enid awkwardly let him and gave his forearm that was wrapped around her a small pat, “It’s just so romantic. It reminds me of your mother and I..”
“Do not go any further into that topic.” Wednesday wanted him, “I do not wish to hear of you and mother’s blossoming, disgustingly cliche romance and neither does my wife— release her from your grasp, now.”
Enid was eventually released upon request— no, more like demand, right as Pugsley decided to speak up.
“I’m glad you’re happy, sis. You too, Enid.”
Such simple words but they meant a lot.
Wednesday simply nodded to him. Enid.. on the other hand felt an abundance of emotions wreck through her. Never in her life had she felt so much love and acceptance. It was almost literally overwhelming.
She’d never felt anything like this before. All the love?
The tears that came.. spoke for themselves.
Going into this, Wednesday had expected her emotional imbecile of a father to shed tears but.. not Enid.
So, when the blonde started openly crying— she was caught off guard and unsure how to proceed.
“Enid?” Wednesday took a step closer to the couch and hesitantly knelt down to her wife, “Hey.. what is it?”
She wasn’t good at comforting. Much less in front of her waiting family members.. but she’d— fuck— try.
Enid was covering most of her face with her hands, sobbing softly into her palms, her shoulders shaking each time a faint cry slipped past her lips. She soon felt the familiar coldness of Wednesday’s small hands on her knees. Her wife was trying to understand her tears.
Oh, right.
“I-I just..” The werewolf finally found the strength to speak, she moved her hands and smiled a watery, happy smile that was as bright as ever, “I love you guys.. all of you. I love this family. T-thank you.. for everything.”
Wednesday should’ve known Enid would be just as emotional.. except this time? She couldn’t say anything like she had with her father. This was her wife. It was different— dare she say, love has changed her a little.
Even perhaps.. softened her?
The day had ended with a family dinner. Enid was always welcome but it was the first time she sat at the dinner table whilst sharing the last name as all the others.
Telling the Addams family had gone so well? That Enid gained confidence to tell her own family too!
Oh.. how foolish she had been.
—
To fully understand how Enid ended up in the position she was in— outside her and Wednesday’s shared bedroom, stuck in the hall, weeping against a wall with worry and dread in the air— then, you have to be taken back to the day everything really started.
Because, you see? The life Enid and Wednesday ended up having wasn’t the life they planned for.
It all started the day Enid finally mustered up the courage to tell her family she’d married Wednesday.
After telling the Addams went well without issue, Enid gained confidence and planned a trip for the following week. It was still summertime but having to travel over to San Francisco meant rain. It was of no surprise to either of them that it was pouring out when the arrived at the airport in the gloomy, Californian city.
Murray Sinclair was kind enough to pick them up and during the car ride, Enid felt tempted to break the news to him right then and there but no.. she held off.
It didn’t make a difference.
Because— skipping over unimportant details leading up to the announcement— as soon as the words left her tongue at the dinner table? Tense silence ensued.
Enid was sitting next to her wife at the rather crowed table. She didn’t live or grow up nearly as wealthy as Wednesday. Her family lived in a small home. There was a total of five wolves living under the roof.
Before Enid, came her three older brothers; Humphrey— the oldest— Duke and Elliot; idiotic twin flames.
Her relationships with her brothers had never been good and it likely? Unfortunately, would never become good. They were all grownups now. It was really too late..
Humphrey had always been a huge bully.
He was her mothers pride and joy. A perfect wolf. He was full of himself and cocky— the biggest asshole Enid knew.
Duke and Elliot, on the other hand, were the biggest dumbasses to walk the earth. Seriously, Enid was convinced they shared a brain cell and yet? Still managed to wolf out on time and gain their mothers love..
Enid didn’t get it.
Her family had never accepted her. They never would but.. she didn’t even live at home anymore..
So, surely? Their reaction couldn’t be that bad, right?
She should’ve known better.
As soon as the simple words of the announcement left her lips, a tension fell over everyone at the table.
Enid tried to hold her head high. She tried to ignore the anxiety in her shaky hands and the lump in her throat.
Wednesday put a hand on her thigh under the table, noticing the obvious strain of emotion ridden in the blonde.
Across from them, sat Humphrey and Ester.
At the ends of the small table? Were Duke and Elliot on one end and her father— Murray looked unreadable as ever. It was like he expected it.. and now? He, along with everyone else, was waiting to hear a pen drop. That’s how silent the once lively kitchen became..
Until finally? Humphrey spoke.
“Wow.” He scoffed, “And here I thought you couldn’t get anymore disappointing.. and now I hear this?”
Enid’s heart both dropped and clenched.
Ester didn’t necessarily feed into her beloved son’s words but she didn’t dare to deny or defend her either.
“H-honey, how could you do this to your family?”
Was she.. fucking crying?
God, this was a horrible idea. Enid regretted not just sending a text or something.. it would’ve been better.
“Mom.. stop, c’mon.” Enid said lowly, pleadingly.
Why did she do this?
She just wanted to leave now.. but she couldn’t. Her family wasn’t done making their opinions known.
“H-how could you marry a human?! We had all sorts of spouses for you to choose from! How dare you!”
Ester’s voice was the first to raise.
Enid instinctively flinched at the tone change— memories of being loudly scolded as a child coming back to her.
“You’re a disgrace.” Humphrey added in for the hell of it.
Duke and Elliot just laughed at the scene in front of them. Everything was amusing to them, especially if it came at poor Enid’s expense— as it usually did.
“And your human?” He continued, “Is an abomination.”
Wednesday paid no mind to his comments. It wouldn’t be the first time Humphrey had said something cruel to her. It was pretty common of him, actually. Instead, she only focused on her wife— trying to be there for her.
“No.” Enid’s anxiety was still there but it was suddenly being overtaken by anger, “Don’t you fucking dare say a word about her, brother. Dig at me all you want.. but leave her the hell out of this..” She said warningly.
Humphrey laughed at her, standing up from his seat.
“Why? I thought this was a family discussion..” He watched as Enid stood up from her chair too, “Isn’t Wednesday apart of the family now?”
Now, Wednesday was shitty with words opting for her continuous silence in this situation but there was no way she was going to let Humphrey get physical with Enid. The blonde already had enough scars on her behalf.
But unfortunately, Wednesday had no idea just how far Humphrey was about to take this little stand off.
“She’s an Addams now.” Wednesday finally chimed in as she stood up alongside the much taller blonde. “There’s no way I’d ever willingly accept your family name.”
Ester gasped in horror, covering her mouth with a hand and looking like she’d been struck across the face.
“Enid, please! Tell me she’s lying!”
Another laugh left the oldest Sinclair brother but it was evident that he found nothing funny.
“Good to know my sister’s legally a freak now. A freak just like the rest of you Addams..” Humphrey glared down at his short, human sister-in-law with nothing but pure hatred and disgust in his gaze.
Enid growled then, loudly. This was when her claws made an appearance and her fangs came out shortly after.
“Enid.” Wednesday said firmly, placing a hand on her chest in an attempt to get her attention, “We’re leaving. Enough of this. We don’t need their approval.”
It didn’t work. She was too upset.
Humphrey smirked, sharing the same smug look at his other two brothers as Wednesday spoke.
“That’s right, Enid.” He teased, tauntingly, “Be a good little pet and listen to your little bitch human..”
That was fucking it.
In one swift motion, Enid shoved Wednesday behind her and jumped over the table— tackling Humphrey. Her hands went around his neck and because of how small the kitchen was the pair instantly collided into the kitchen counter right behind them.
The table was a mess now, glasses and silverware shattering and food flying.
It was chaos but this time? Wednesday didn’t enjoy it. She wanted nothing more than to see her wife put her emotionally, mentally abusive, shithead of a brother in his rightful place but she knew it wasn’t realistic.
It wasn’t a fight Enid would win.
At least, she didn’t think so. She didn’t wanna chance it.
Humphrey may have gotten knocked down from the initial blow but wasn’t down for long. He shoved Enid off of her and grabbed an empty wine bottle off the counter.
“Kids! Stop this madness!” Ester said in a tone of both desperation and anger. “You’re being animals!”
Duke and Elliot were no help at all. If anything, they made the fight worse by encouraging their brother.
“Get her, bro!” One of them called out.
Murray had no real reaction. He simply averted his gaze and continued to cut into his steak like normal.
Wednesday was disgusted with the man’s lack of desire to put a stop to this and watched the altercation with anger and very well hidden nervousness in her eyes.
Enid saw him grab the bottle and grabbed his wrist before he could hit her with it. For a few seconds, it was a battle of sheer strength— Enid ended up loosing. It wasn’t really a fair fight though, Humphrey was older and taller, stronger. He successfully managed to shatter the empty bottle over her head, gashing her forehead.
“Enid, no!” Wednesday’s eyes widened at the sight of blood and instantly grabbed a knife off the table. She wasn’t going to just stand there! She had to help!
Seeing their sister-in-law dive for the knife, caused Duke and Elliot to finally get involved too. Both of them got up and grabbed the human before she could make a move. Duke grabbed one of her arms and Elliot grabbed the other, putting their werewolf strength to good use.
“Release me immediately!” Wednesday hissed, struggling against their grasp, “I won’t say it again, mutts!”
They didn’t listen. Instead? Began to laugh at her.
However, she was soon able to kick them where it hurt, right in the groin at the same time with both of the feet.
By the time she got out of their hold, she looked up to see that Enid and Humphrey were no longer in the kitchen but the backdoor was wide open— cold, rainy air now flew inside, giving her goosebumps. Ester had gone outside too and was standing on the back porch.
Finally, with a huff, Wednesday grabbed the knife off the table and ran outside in the pouring rain.
Out in the backyard, now wrestling around in the mud was none other than Humphrey and Enid. Both of them had their claws out, fangs exposed and both of them had drawn blood from the other at least twice.
Despite being in human form, it did sound like a wolf fight from afar just— not nearly as morbid or gruesome.
“This is all your fault! If you would’ve stayed away from my daughter, none of this would’ve happened!”
Ester’s voice erupted in her ear as soon as she stood on the creaky porch beside the older woman.
Wednesday gave her no reaction. She only tightened her grip around kitchen knife and gave her a deadpan look.
“Move out of my way.” She said, “Or I’ll make you.”
Her horrid mother-in-law was in no position to argue. She did as told and watched as the human left the porch and entered the rain. Wednesday looked like a little, naïve black sheep approaching two hungry wolves.
Meanwhile, Enid was struggling as much as she tried not to admit that. Humphrey was strong— really strong.
He was on top of her and had punched, clawed and beaten her way too many times to count.
With the mix of rain and sweat, her wounds burned and her vision began blurry as blood from the gash on her forehead dripped down into her eyes. She tried to fight him off but her attacks were weak now. There was no point in continuing.. she was.. just too weak.
Enid felt pathetic in that moment.
Pathetic because she couldn’t stand up for herself in an argument and was foolish enough to start a fight she knew she’d never win. Sure, maybe she’d faced the Hyde but then again— maybe she just got lucky that time.
Maybe she was secretly holding back? This was her big brother. That thought made everything hurt worse.
Her big brother was treating her like a punching bag like her always had when they were growing up. Enid should be used to this by now, right? This feeling. This pain.
“S-stop!” She finally said, trying not to choke on her blood, “Fucking enough! Humphrey.. s-stop it..”
Humphrey finally stopped when he heard her tap out.
Enid had lost this fight.
The punches and fighting stopped but he was straddling her in the mud still. He didn’t move.. not yet.
The blonde watched him look down at her. His expression was unreadable. She fought tears. Humphrey had already beaten her to her pulp— she didn’t wanna start crying in front of him too, that’d make it worse.
“You’re no wolf.” Humphrey finally said, catching his breath and wiping off his bloody knuckles. “You’re just the embodiment of a living mistake. Nothing else.”
Enid bit back a sob that almost slipped out. Almost.
“G-get off me.. please..”
Pathetic. That’s what she was.
“I’m not actually upset that you married that human, you know?” He suddenly caught her attention with that comment and grabbed her by the chin, making her look at him as he spoke, “Because the crowning of the new alpha is four moons away and I’m going to take the title and become the leader.” He spoke as if these were facts— as if he knew the future. “And the first thing I’m gonna do as alpha is have the both of you exiled..”
Enid felt like sinking further into the mud as she heard his claim. She’d completely forgotten about the crowning. The upcoming battle for the title of alpha. Their current one was old and had done his time. It was a werewolf tradition. There could only be one victor.
“There’s no room for mistakes or humans in my pack.” Humphrey added, finally— getting off of her.
All she could do was lay there.
Lightening struck from up above and lit up the gray, dark sky in a bright white. During the short few seconds of flashing lightness— Enid saw a small shadow appear from behind her brothers rather tall figure.
Wednesday.
“Step away from Enid, or I will kill you.”
Yeah, definitely Wednesday.
Humphrey paid no mind to the human’s comments and turnt around, feeling Wednesday immediately press the stolen knife dangerously close to his abdomen.
There they stood in the rain..
A human and a werewolf. A black sheep and a predator.
“I’d like to see that happen, Addams.”
He shoved past her and began walking back to the porch to go in and help his brothers clean up the kitchen. He could hear his dramatic mother yelling something inaudible from all the way across the backyard.
Wednesday’s jaw clenched and her eyes narrowed as she watched him walk away as if nothing happened..
“You will, I promise you..”
It was in that moment that Wednesday made a promise to herself— she’d be the one to kill that man one day.
An Addams never made a promise they couldn’t keep.
As much as Wednesday wanted to plot ways to cause the man a painful, slow demise at her hand— a painful groan caught her attention and she immediately dropped the knife and knelt down to Enid’s side in the mud.
“Enid..” She sighed, unsure where to place her hands.
These wounds weren’t nearly as bad as when she faced off with Tyler but they weren’t good either.
“I-I’m fine, I’m okay.. I.. I’m f-fin....” Enid repeated but her words trailed off and turnt into soft sobs. She tried to sit up but it hurt too much to do on her own.
The frown on Wednesday’s face deepened and she moved forward, carefully pulling the wounded woman into her chest, wrapping her cold arms around her.
“I got you now. You’re safe, cara mia..”
Enid always loved when she called her that. It was like when Gomez called Morticia that. It was blissful and comforting, even when she was at her worst like now.
“H-he said..” Enid tried to explain but could only have her words turn into sobs once again.
Wednesday shook her head.
“Shh, amor, it doesn’t matter what he said.”
No, no, no— she wasn’t listening!
Humphrey had plans to exile them from the pack and at first glance, that didn’t sound too bad considering what had just happened but exiled wolves were never allowed in any other packs. Enid would be a lone wolf forever.
She didn’t want that.
And not to mention, God only knows what that sadistic asshole would do to Wednesday, a human, if he had the tile and authoritative power of the alpha.
“No.. Wednesday.. listen to me.”
Wednesday released Enid a little and allowed her to pick her bloody, muddy head up from the crook of neck and their eyes met— there, that summer evening in the rain.
“Humphrey wants to.. b-become the alpha.” Enid finally managed to say, “If he does he’ll be an awful leader. He’s a selfish prick and.. and he’ll exile me.. he said so.”
All she could really do was listen. She wasn’t the best when it came to comforting or anything that dealt with vulnerability. Her eyes softened at the last bit of what Enid said— Humphrey was always cruel but tonight? He’d taken it way too far and he needed to pay for it.
“I need to get you cleaned up.”
Enid wasn’t worried about her wounds right then and there. Her brothers words kept playing in her head, taunting her— pushing her to make a choice.
“And I-I need to stop that f-from happening.”
Wednesday shook her head, moving to cup the lycan’s cheeks, “Enid, you’re hurt. Let me help you.”
They needed to get out of the rain. If they didn’t? They’d both get sick or worse— Enid’s wounds could get infected. She really didn’t want that to happen.
A large, bloodied hand came and rested on one of Wednesday’s smaller ones, one that was creasing her cheek. “T-then help me beat him, sweetheart..”
What?
“Enid..”
“Wens, please.” Enid blinked through her tears, “Help me become the new alpha of the pack.”
They’d been sitting out in the rain for awhile now but right in that moment was when the sound of the downpour from up above became really loud.
It was a good while before Wednesday said anything.
But when she did? Her words were simple;
“Okay.. I’m with you.”
—
Enid did beat Humphrey that day.
You don’t need to know the details. You don’t need to know how she did it— how Wednesday and her trained everyday for the next two in a half months to accomplish such a thing— you just need to know that she won.
It had been a long battle. It lasted all night. From the moment the full moon rose up until sunrise.
It’s important to know that in this world, not all wolves were classified as alpha or omega. No, there was only one in each pack. There was one alpha— the leader— and the mate of said leader was the omega.
Think of it as some kind of natural monarchy, just without the actual royalty parts.
By the time the night was over, Wednesday was finally released from chains— yes, she’d insisted someone tie her up to prevent her from jumping into the battle to aid her beloved in victory— it’d be easy to cheat but the title of alpha could only be obtained through an honest fight.
Enid had trained hard for this night. It paid off when the sun rose down on her bloody human body for the first time. She was sweaty and tired, sore all over, but proud.
When the warm sun touched her battered, bruised skin, and as she caught her breath, feeling Wednesday rush over towards her, immediately shrugging off the black trench coat she was wearing to cover her wife up with— she knew in her heart that she’d been crowned alpha.
Wednesday had watched the entire fight. She’d stayed up all night and had watched Enid take many brutal hits but she always got back up each time. That was her girl. She ran to her and stayed at her side, standing on her tip toes to cup her bruised, dirty cheek.
“I’m so proud of you..”
Enid could only smile, her hands coming to rest on Wednesday’s waist like natural instinct at this point. She didn’t hesitate to pull in her and give her a kiss.
The kiss was full of love and heavy relief. They’d done it. Enid was the pack alpha now. It’d all paid off.
When they parted lips, Enid was the first to realize they had an audience. She pulled away and felt a warm blush spread across her face upon the realization.
“W-whoa, okay..” She chuckled awkwardly.
All members of the pack— nearly two hundred wolves, young and old— had all gathered for the crowning of the alpha and had witnessed the battle. They were in the forest of San Francisco where’d it all occurred and were currently bowing to their new leader; Enid Addams.
Wednesday wasn’t a fan of all the attention but she thought her wife more than deserved it so she stood there at her side and placed a hand on her chest, letting Enid keep an arm around her waist where it belonged.
“Um.. you guys can get up now.. thanks?”
Enid had a lot to learn.
Her whole plan was kinda just to make sure Humphrey didn’t become alpha but now? She had the role of leader on her shoulders and would have it for her whole life.
And Wednesday? She was.. she was her omega.
The pack already knew that, based on the sight in front of her— all the kneeling, bowing wolves.
A shadow suddenly approached the pair and Enid looked over her shoulder to see the former alpha approach her. He was an older man— Elder Omen— he had gray hair and had served the role of alpha very well.
Enid could only hope to be as good as he was.
“May I present to you.. your victor.” He held up Enid’s arm in victory and Enid hesitantly held up Wednesday’s arm beside her, surprisingly? Wednesday let her do it, “The new alpha and omega of the San Francisco pack; Enid and Wednesday Addams!”
The pack began to get up and howl— loudly.
Everyone who had the ability to do it, young pups and older wolves alike, howled their hearts out.
Wednesday would have to get used to this.. being the only human living amongst an entire pack of wolves?
Her life had just gotten a hell of lot more interesting. This was an unexpected, yet intriguing plot twist.
As she listened to the howls, her dark eyes scanned the crowd for Humphrey. She so desperately wanted to see his face and watch it crumble but sadly? The man had taken off after loosing so horribly to his little sister.
What a shame. Wednesday may have helped Enid win, but she was still dead set on that promise she’d made.
—
It turns out? No one had a problem with Wednesday being their omega. Her being human didn’t matter. What mattered was if she was a good omega or not and she was— in fact, Wednesday was probably the best omega the San Francisco pack had seen in centuries.
More often than not, those who had the role of omega hid behind their alpha when things got hard. Not Wednesday. She was a ruler alongside her wife.
Both Addams made their decisions together.
Shortly after becoming the new leaders— they were moved into the pack house. It was an old mansion in the deep woods. They were in San Francisco but away from the city and lived near a great Lake.
In the woods that surrounded their home was rural area that was untouched from the general public but was inhabited by the pack. The pack had their homes build in the forest. In other words? Enid and Wednesday lived in the only actual house for miles and lived surrounded by a large group of wolves. Their people.
Wednesday really was the only human for miles.
A lot in their lives had been changing around this time. The topic of children didn’t even dare to come up until years— yes, years— after becoming alpha and omega.
Five years had passed before anything of that sort was brought up. What you need to know to understand the depth of Enid’s future dire situation is she’d never been accepted or loved by her family. So, she’d always longed to have one of her own. She’d make her own pack and she’d do absolutely anything to get it one day.
Anything to protect it— her own little pack.
—
“Are you sure?”
Enid was now in her early thirties. She’d been alpha for half a decade or so and she’d seen a lot.
She’d seen battle and bloodshed. She’d seen starvation and what happens when a wolf looses themselves to their inner beasts. Together, she and Wednesday had made both easy and hard decisions for their pack.
That being said— why did this decision feel so different?
Wednesday wasn’t as held up on the choice as her dearest alpha was. They’d talked about it many times by now and she was ready— ready to have a family.
Tonight was the night Enid would give Wednesday her knot. How was that possible? Werewolf anatomy was strange as it was but even stranger once a month under the moonlight during her ruts. She didn’t question the science behind it, instead she was grateful she was blessed with the ability to impregnate her mate on her own without spending thousands of dollars.
“Enid, I know you want me.” The omega said, hiding the slight hint of irritation in her tone. “I want you too..”
The alpha suppressed a whine. God, that was true but she was holding back until she knew for sure.
“Fuck, yeah.. B-but—“
Wednesday cut her off by pulling the black sheets off of her body— revealing her naked form.
They were married, of course they’d been in these types of situations with each other before. It’s not like she was seeing anything new or different but.. it was beautiful nonetheless.. Wednesday’s flawless body.
The sight made Enid submit to her primal desires and slip off the last of her clothing— walking towards the bed.
“I want a family with you, alpha..”
Those words did wonders to Enid.
She heard the mattress creak under her weight as joined her beloved in the sheets, connecting their lips.
“And we’ll have one, baby. I promise.”
Remember, an Addams always kept their promise.
—
“If we lead the hunting group east first, we’d cover more ground but there’s always the lake.” Enid spoke out loud, leaned over the kitchen counter in their home— looking at the weeks hunting group plans she’d made. “If the waters are high I don’t wanna risk anyone’s safety..”
Each week, she and Wednesday had to go over plans such as this to keep a steady food source. They also had to take advantage of hunting seasons for the winter. The last thing one would want is hungry, restless wolves.
“What do you think, Wens?”
They were supposed to do it together but Enid had finally realized she’d been talking to herself for awhile.
Where was her omega, anyways?
“Omega? Babycakes… hello?”
Enid almost got up to continue her search when the all too familiar scent of fresh grass and burning sage filled her senses and Wednesday suddenly appeared beside her. Fuck! Enid hated when she did that! Seriously!
“Fuck! Wens.. Jesus, you scared me.”
Wednesday, as usual, had a deadpan expression. She simply arched a brow at initially spooking her mate.
“Enid, I need your attention.”
Oh? Straightforward as always.
The blonde smirked, turning around to fully face the smaller girl. It was moments like this when she appreciated their more dramatic height and size difference now. Being the alpha had caused Enid to become much stronger and even taller. Wednesday remained the same— staying adorably tiny as ever.
“I’m all yours, babygirl.”
Wednesday bit the inside of her cheek whilst Enid waited for her to say or do something, unsure of what it could possibly considering who she was married to.
At any given moment Wednesday could tell her she murdered someone and she wouldn’t be surprised.
When she finally spoke— it came out in a mutter. Her tone was barely audible and as soft a whisper.
“Huh?”
Enid didn’t catch it.
Wednesday repeated herself in the same tone.
She couldn’t help but start to get concerned now.
“Hey, what is it?” Enid reached forward and cupped the soft, freckled that she loved so much, “Talk to me..”
Wednesday averted her gaze but didn’t pull away.
Finally— she said it loud and clear this time.
“I’m pregnant, Enid.”
Enid didn’t expect it. She should’ve known. They’d had— you know— not too long ago with the intentions of getting pregnant but.. that fast? Enid felt her ego boost slightly at the initial thought but her feelings were soon replaced with what was described as utter joy.
“Y-you.. what?”
Wednesday’s gaze softened up at her tall wife, carefully guiding one of Enid’s large, shaky hands to her flat stomach. She was wearing a baggy band t-shirt that belonged to the blonde, her stomach fluttered with butterflies when Enid took over and slipped her hand under her shirt, creasing her flat stomach.
“We’re having a baby, alpha..”
Soon the sound of light little thumps filled their kitchen and to prove Wednesday’s words— Thing came scurrying into the room, hopping on the counter with a positive pregnancy test in his grasp, showing it off.
Enid laughed at the sight but her laughs became tearful as reality hit and sunk in deep. They were having a baby. This was really happening! Wednesday was pregnant.
“Oh, my sweetheart..” The blonde moved her hands to wrap her arms around Wednesday— proceeding to pick her up and spin her around, “This is amazing news!”
Wednesday rolled her eyes at the gesture but allowed it. She was used to being picked up and handled by now.
She reached up and cupped Enid’s scared face, wiping her tears with the pads of her thumbs, “Indeed it is.”
Enid got herself together and sat Wednesday down right on the kitchen counter, proceeding to then plant kisses all over the woman’s face and the exposed skin of her jawline, neck and collarbone for a few moments.
Wednesday enjoyed it, truthfully, but she had some concerns they needed to discuss before anything else.
“Mm, before you get me riled up, I must confess that I have a request,” She said, aimlessly playing with Enid’s hair that had grown long and a bit shaggy.
She no longer dyed the ends of her hair pink and blue— she didn’t have time to keep up with it anymore, sadly.
“Anything.” Enid said without hesitation.
Wednesday expected that. Perfect.
“While this is rather.. glorious.. news? I don’t think we should share this information with anyone until it’s absolutely necessary and only then.”
Enid paused and thought for a moment.
“Of course, we can keep it a secret.” She nodded, “Is there a reason why though? Just out of curiosity..”
Wednesday then took a moment to ponder.
“If we announce a pregnancy to a pack of two hundred wolves, they’ll treat me like a delicate flower for the next nine months and that’s the last thing I want.”
Ah, that made sense for Wednesday.
“Right, but they’d only do it out of your best intere—“
Wednesday put a hand over Enid’s mouth.
“I’m not delicate, Enid.” Dark eyes looked her up and down and a small smirk appeared on her lips, “You of all people would know that.. wouldn’t you?”
What was she… Oh. Oh! Fuck. This woman..
Enid sighed and gently moved her wife’s hand away from her mouth, flashing her a shy smile.
“You’re making me blush, Wens..”
Wednesday hummed— Enid was adorable.
“Good.”

Now, it’s obvious you have unanswered questions.
You will for awhile— but it’ll all come together in time.
However, you now know enough background knowledge for the real story to begin. This isn’t even the beginning.
The beginning of the real story takes place the chilly early winter night Enid and Wednesday made the announcement of their pregnancy to everyone.
It was a rather eventful night.
The night that started it all was just beginning.
