Running a bakery was no joke. Seriously. It was tough. Y/n worked her ass off to get the shop and was just getting started, opening the shop a little over 10 months ago. Business wasn’t quite booming but it wasn’t dead either. It wad quite hard to describe really, but she was happy! And felt that’s all that really mattered, well that and keeping the lights on and food on the table.
She got up every morning before the sun had even risen and prepped for the day ahead. Getting to the shop at about 5:00 every morning and starting morning rounds. It was her and her alone. It was hard but hey business was not exactly booming. Hell she hardly got her first customer til noon! Things weren’t looking good for the foreseeable future and what was left of the optimism was running low. That’s until he came in.
Y/n was in the back of the shop getting ingredients to start a new batch of her classic butter croissants, a family recipe that had been passed down for generations, when the bell on the door rang and she heard Wesley’s “Hello?” In his standard deep voice. “Oh, Just a minute!” Y/n called as she dusted her hands off on her apron and set it on the hook in the doorway behind the counter.
“Good morning! How can I help you?” Y/n said with her normal beaming smile and her way too high customer service voice. “Yes good morning. Could I get two apple turnovers and” he looked at the glass showcase and the cursive tags in front of all the sweets “one cherry turnover please.” He finished. “ Of course!” y/n said as she put the them in the paper bags. “Your total is 5.40” Y/n said smiling. Wesley paid and before he left said, “Miss. You have a bit of flour on your nose.” With a chuckle, but still in a rush to get these back.
“Oh!” Y/n giggled as she dusted off her nose and watched the suited man leave.
