Asgard
The world around me was fading in and out so quickly before I could fully register what was happening.
The first time I woke up, all I could sense was pain. It was ripping through my whole body; it was unbearable. I would have screamed in anguish if I could find the breath to do so.
‘We need to take her to the med bay,’ a disembodied voice shouted.
I fucking hate the med bay.
‘Fuck the med bay, she needs a hospital!’
I hate hospitals more.
‘Guys we gotta move her somewhere, all that bruising is internal damages.’
Just let me die here, I can’t move.
‘A Midgardian hospital? She’ll die before she even gets there!’
I think that was Thor. When did Thor get here?
‘Well, Pointbreak if you’ve got a better idea share with the group.’
Tony. When did everyone get here? Oh god, I think I’m going to throw up.
‘Actually, I do. Brother?’
Please pass out, please pass out. I can’t take the pain anymore.
A burst of light painted my eyelids.

The second time I woke up, pain wasn’t the first thing I noticed. It was the light of an early morning sunrise.
I groaned and twisted my face away from the beams. I was laying in a bed. When I turned my body, I noticed how sore I was, and I gave a small gasp.
‘Careful love, the healers put a lot of work into fixing your injuries.’
I fluttered my eyes back open to find that Loki was sitting up against the footboard opposite me on the bed. He was looking down at a book, but I could tell his eyes weren’t focused on comprehending the words in front of him.
I took a breath and looked past him into the room, taking in the gold and leather accents that littered the area. I didn’t recognize it. I started to sit up and my body protested, but I fought against it. ‘Where am I?’ I stitched my brows together.
‘Asgard- don’t be stubborn, lay back down’ he stood up to push my shoulder back onto the bed. A grumble in protest was all I could manage.
‘Does Asgard have morphine? I feel like someone dropped a building on me’ I rubbed my eyes in annoyance.
He gave a small laugh, ‘close; you fell out of the building before it could collapse in on you. Barton broke your fall though.’ He moved my hair away from my face.
The memories were flooding back to me. The mission. The team. The civilians. The bomb. I felt panic fill my face, ‘is everyone okay? Did I hurt anyone?’
He rested his hand on my cheek and smiled kindly, ‘no, you didn’t hurt anyone. If you weren’t there the explosion would have been catastrophic.’
I closed my eyes and let out a slow, even breath. Everyone was okay. I was okay. I faced my real life scenario and came out of it with the best possible results. Well, my body could disagree. I had no idea how much strain my powers put on my body; I remembered the feeling of my muscles ripping from the pressure and I winced.
Loki’s voice called me back to reality, ‘you told me you would come back in one piece.’
His hand stayed resting on my cheek as his fingers curled into my hair. I smirked, ‘I still have all my limbs intact, don’t I?’
His face filled with concern, resisting my attempt at lightening the mood. He talked slowly and I could hear a hint of pain in his voice, ‘You don’t know what it was like, seeing you laying there. You were so obviously dying, if we hadn’t of brought you here as quickly as we did...’
‘Hey,’ I grabbed his wrist near my face, ‘I’m fine, you can’t get rid of me that easily. I keep telling you, I’m not that fragile.’
This time he returned my smile before dropping his hand.
He migrated to the sofa, ‘you need to rest, love. I’m holding you hostage until you’re strong enough to move again. I know you’re so stubborn that you’ll try to climb out of bed the second I leave you alone’. He settled into the sofa with his book, stretching his legs out.
I let out a groan and curled up under the blankets, closing my eyes, but I didn’t disagree with him.
