Siblings? Yeah.
Sprite struggled to not just bail and disappear. The human boy tattling behind her just could not take a hint. Even though she had not-so-subtle-y changed direction for the last half-hour to lose the guy. He kept blabbering on about his life and trying to pick at hers.
She didn’t even know how many lies she had thrown to his face. She was pretty sure they weren’t even talking about the same topic. The man throws her what could be the hundredth question since she met him.
“Huh? Yeah.” She answers absentmindedly, her eyes focusing on the traffic light. Seriously considering to just throw herself into traffic.
He didn’t seem like a bad person, maybe a bit snot-nosed, but pretty much a normal teenage boy. It still didn’t mean that she had the time nor patience to humor or babysit him.
When the light turned bright neon green she stepped forward to blend with the crowd. Which turned out unsuccessful as he was still in her line of sight when she came out on the other side of the street.
Drastic measures it is then. She sighed.
She raised her hand and was about to disappear with a twirl of her wrist when a hand closed around it.
“Kingo…” She stated. Half relieved and half annoyed that he just took her escape route away from her. Although he might’ve just presented her with a new one.
Sprite put on her act towards the befuddled Kingo as the two of them were approached by the unrelenting stranger. She was chatting with him animatedly, rambling on about whatever came to mind. The other eternal was taken aback to see her acting friendlier than usual. But his concerns were allayed when he noticed Sprite standing a little behind him, as a boy – perhaps in high school? – approached them. Was he bothering her? The stranger didn’t look threatening-ish.
He didn’t budge as the boy tried to look over his shoulder to where Kingo knew Sprite was hiding.
Summoning his acting spirit, he faced the boy. “Who are you?” He tried to keep a friendly tone to his voice, as he didn’t know why the boy came up to them. Maybe he was just asking for directions. Though it seemed unlikely by the way he kept ignoring him and instead kept trying to get the attention of the smaller eternal.
So far, Sprite’s plan had not worked as she thought it would. She had thought maybe if the boy – sheesh she didn’t even know his name – saw her with someone she knew, then he would leave her alone. Like seriously, what did he find so interesting about her?
It didn’t help that Kingo didn’t seem to be getting rid of the boy and instead just stood there staring. She nudged her elbow into his side. Hopefully signaling that she wanted to get out of there, preferably now.
Throwing a “What the-“ glare over his shoulder, when the menace of a younger sibling stabbed his side with her sharp bony elbow, he stepped forward a bit. Forcing the one in front of him to turn his attention to him.
“Do you have some kind of business with uh-“ he turned back to Sprite knowing that she, most of the time didn’t use her real name.
Sprite mouthed her current name at him.
“-Do you have any business with Sandra?” He asked him.
The boy seemed annoyed at first but schooled his expression to that of a nonchalant teenager. “No, Sandra and I go to the same school and I was just showing her around the city.”
Sprite snorted. More like herding her around the city.
Kingo cocked his brow. The kid was a terrible performer. Even Karun could come up with a more compelling excuse than that. "Well, thank you," he said as he threw an arm around Sprite's shoulder and silently snickered at the illusionist's face, which alternated between 'Get your fucking arm off me' and 'Gotta play into the act.'
“But my little sister and I need to go home-“
He was cut off. “-you have a brother?? I thought you said you were an only child-“
Irritated, Kingo continued and answered in Sprite’s stead. “We need to go home where our 8 older siblings are waiting.” Technically Ajak was more of a mom than an older sibling, but it was worth it for the astounded look on the boy’s face.
Without waiting for the stranger to recover, Kingo tugged Sprite away.
Sprite still had her head turned back. “What’s his problem with siblings anyway?”
“Don’t know, don’t care.”
Looking up at Kingo, she squinted her eyes. “Are the others really here?”
The smile was wiped off his face. “Uh- no.”
Sprite shrugged off the arm that was still slung over her shoulder. She huffed, walking forward.
“Of course not. We haven’t had a reunion in centuries, why start now?”
