As Soft As a Rose Petal
The both of them were walking towards Peter's date destination and the two of them couldn't have been happier. As Wade was rambling on and on about how his day had gone so far, Peter sighed and felt a small smile draw across his lips. Wow. Peter thought. This is amazing.
It was around Peter's 10th time going out with Wade and things were going steady, just as he’d hoped for. He couldn’t believe that he was truly dating someone this beautiful. Not because Peter thought he was out of his league, but because it felt like his current situation was just too good to be true. It wasn’t fair how amazing his partner was! Nevertheless, Peter was very happy to be with him.
Peter's thoughts mellowed out as he was pulled back into the present by the soft chuckle of Wade.
“I must be boring you, huh?” he teased with an affectionate smile.
“Oh, no no!” Peter shook his head frantically, “Not one bit! I was just caught up in the moment that’s all.”
Wade slowed down, turning back to look at Peter with a smile growing on his face the second he stated that fact.
“Go on~” he insisted with a smirk.
Peter could feel his cheeks and ears start to warm as a blush crept up his face, and hoped that somehow Wade wouldn’t notice. (Although he knew that wouldn’t be the case.)
Peter sheepishly replied, nervously wringing his hands together as he said, “I’m just thinking about how lucky I am that I get to be with someone like you. It really makes me happy; that’s all.” He ducked his head down after that confession, too embarrassed to look at Wade at the moment.
Wade stared at Peter, eyes full of admiration, as his smile grew bigger; a rosy tint lightly dusting his ears and cheeks. With his thumb and pointer finger, he raised Peter's face up to his so he could look Peter in the eyes as he spoke.
“You always know just what to say to make me fall in love with you all over again.”

The two of them had just reached Peter's date destination, which was at the botanical gardens, and decided it was best to take a seat in the grassy field beside it. The air was a bit brisk that late afternoon, but it was nothing a thick blanket shared between the two of them couldn’t fix. The destination Peter chose was amazing. The gardens were filled with all different sorts of walkways and paths, each one leading towards different types of plants, and even some animals that resided in the gardens.
Peter made it his number one priority that lots of photos were taken of his partner, himself, and the two of them together, knowing that Wade hated photos of himself and would only willingly take them if he was in them as well.
The only thing Peter thought was more amazing than the gardens was Wade. He was wearing a thick fleece jacket with a light-gray turtleneck, which fit him in all the right places perfectly, as well as some jewelry Peter gifted him a few dates back. The first was a thin gold necklace, then two rings; one with his birthstone and the other with Wade's birthstone. Without realizing it, Peter found himself staring at Wade once again, a habit that he recently found too difficult to break, and his eyes filled with adornment. Wade looked over towards Peter and laughed as he cupped Peter's face into his hands, kissing his nose gently; and just then, Peter could feel how unusually soft they really were. Screaming in his head after learning this amazing fact.
“You look great, love.” Wade smiled once more, moving to kiss Peter's cheek this time.
Peter hummed, ba lush rising to his cheeks at the sudden nickname, and responded, “You look pretty great yourself.”
Peter then gkissed himon the lips. One that was slow, but filled with love and adornment.
At that very moment, the both of them remembered just how nice each other’s lips felt on each oother
This thought made both Peter and Wade's cheeks warm all while reaching for each other’s hands; soon finding them and becoming intertwined as they did. They then both looked up into each others’ eyes, and in that moment, it felt like they were the two on the planet.
As it reached twilight Peter decided it was a good time to go out for a bite to eat due to the gardens closing soon.
“You okay with getting something to eat?” Peter asked, glancing up at Wade as he started to pack up.
He nodded, “Sounds good to me, I’m getting kinda hungry too.” Quickly choosing a restaurant after scrolling through his phone for a minute or so.
This occurrence of pick and choose between the two of them was becoming routine the more the two of them went out. When one of the two picked the date destination, the other would choose where or what they wanted to eat. This time, Wade chose Chinese food. Peter grinned in response, knowing the city they were in had great Chinese restaurants, and walked towards the car.
Once Wade started the car Peter asked, “So what do you feel like getting? I think it’ll be smart to order ahead.”
He nodded in agreement before thinking.
“Ah I got it!” Wade shouted excitedly after a few minutes.
“Ooo really?” Peter asked in a light tone, “What are you gonna have?”
“Chicken fried rice~” he grinned as he licked his lips. “Mmmm, I can taste it already.”
Peter laughed at Wade's remarks as he looked through the menu. “Seems like you have a new favorite menu item, huh? Before, it was pork dumplings and veggie pot stickers.”
Wade rubbed the back of his neck, embarrassed, before looking over at Peter with a sheepish grin, “Could you uh... order some of those as well...?”
Peter chuckled and nodded, “Sure thing. I think I’m gonna get some BBQ pork chow mein as well as some hot tea. Sound good?”
Wade nodded and started to drive soon after their order was placed.
As Wade drove to the restaurant, Peter found himself stealing glances at Wade as if he were on their first date all over again. It made him flustered realizing just how good Wade looked. Calm down! He said to himself. It’s not like you’ve never looked at him before, geez! But with the small glances Wade shot back at Peter with a slight smile, he couldn’t calm his racing heart one bit.
Once Peter was back in the car with the food, things got a little awkward. The both of them wanted the other to come over to their place, but neither knew how to voice that request. So, for five minutes, the two of them sat in the restaurant’s parking lot in silence, neither of the two brave enough to start the conversation.
“S-so… uh…“ Wade cleared his throat and looked over to Peter slowly, fumbling with his fingers as his cheeks went red.
“I was um… well I was thinking that maybe, just maybe by the way! You would want to uh, comeovertomyplacebutifnotit’stotallycoolandIgetit…”
Peter stared at him with a confused look on his face, one brow raised, as he asked, “What was that? Sorry, but your words were all jumbled and I didn’t hear a thing you said.”
Wade looked towards the floor bashfully as he rubbed the back of his neck, this time speaking carefully. “I was thinking that maybe you could um…. y’know… come over to my place to eat…” ending the last part of his sentence in a quiet and frankly quite embarrassed mumble despite trying to speak clearly.
Wade's gaze stayed trained on the floor while he waited for Peter's answer, picking at his fingers anxiously. Peter picked his face up, warm hands gently cupping around Wade's cheeks as he softly pecked Wade's nose, a gentle smile on his face the whole time.
“Of course I would.”
The second Peter responded, he could see the tension leave Wade's shoulders as he watched Peter's face for any signs of dishonesty.
“You mean it?” he asked in a whispered tone.
“Of course I do. I was going to ask if you wanted to come over to my place as well, but I was too nervous...” Peter's cheeks grew warm as embarrassment spread over them, slightly annoyed by his lack of forwardness. With this, Wade laughed as he moved in closer to give Peter a quick, but loving kiss.
“Well then,” Wade grinned, “let’s get going before the food becomes too cold.”
Peter nodded slightly, and Wade started the car back up, driving off to reach his place. As Wade was driving Peter started wondering about how iWade could switchfrom being so bashful to that confident in such a short amount of time, but those thoughts quickly turned into dirty ones and he shook his head frantically. No no no! Now is not the time! He thought. I am going over to his house to eat. Yeah, just eating… well maybe some kissing could be involved, and if kissing is involved then maybe… No!! Stop!
He shook his head again, this time slapping his cheeks as his entire face had turned red.
Wade quickly glanced over to Peter with a concerned look on his face and asked, “Uh love… are you doing okay?”
Peter warmed considerably at the nickname and he held his face in his hands, sighing as he responded, “Yeah, I’m… I’m alright don’t worry.”
“Are you sure? Your face is getting really red. Shit, don’t tell me you have a cold! I knew we shouldn’t have sat outside for that long…” Wade started rambling about Peter's nonexistent illness before he could even respond.
Peter ended up having to shake Wade's arm a little bit before giving him a small smile. “Hey, I promise I’m good I swear! That… that isn’t why my face was red, b-but it doesn’t matter now! Let’s just… let’s just get to your place, okay?”
Wade glanced over at him, skeptical, but soon nodded. “Alright, but don’t worry me like that again okay? Fuck, you really had me nervous there for a sec! Especially because I don't think I have any cold medicine at home!”
Peter laughed and kissed his shoulder. “Okay, okay I promise.”
