Chapter 1

It wasn’t often that they came across something that actually looked interesting or cool after a fight, for a souvenir. But something caught Tony’s eye.

Picking it up, the object revealed to be a small ornament or statue of a man? Or was it a bird?

“What’ve you got there?” Clint asked.

“I don’t know, but I’m taking this. Doesn’t look like anyone’s missing it when it’s been out here in the middle of nowhere.”

“Souvenirs room?”

“Souvenirs room.” Tony repeated.

They flew back to the Tower, Tony giving Clint the ornament to place in the souvenir room. Clint stood it up at the centre of the middle shelf. Nodding, he strolled to meet with the others.

“Do you know what that souvenir was?” He asked Stark.

“No idea.”

Clint started moving away until he turned around, leaving a second to think. “What if that belonged to someone?”

“Clint, it was in the middle of nowhere. Most likely the owner is dead.”

Clint silently agreed. Going off to relax in another room.

There wasn’t anything special about the ornament. As in nothing valuable Stark would put it. But it caught his eye because it was left there, a weird bird man ornament, thrown away and forgotten about. Oddly enough, it reminded him of his younger self, being forgotten about and not cared for by his father.

A voice broke Tony out of his thoughts. “You have a meeting in about ten minutes.”

“No thanks.” He groaned. “I’ll be there in fifteen.”

After the meeting Tony went back to the lounge area of the Tower. Peter had been staying at the Tower more often, he was often in the lab with Tony working on upgrades to his equipment. Currently, he was crawling along the walls, hanging from them every so often to grab something.

“Hey, I’m going out to grab food. You wanna join me?” Tony looked up to ask Peter.

“Yeah, will you be driving or should I swing there?”

“I’ll drive.”

Tony drove them to a McDonald’s, it was the closest place where he could get a burger.

They ate their food in the lab. “Hey, can I make you a suit?” Tony asked.

“I make my own, but knock yourself out.” Peter shrugged.

“Alright. When did you make your first suit?”

“When I was seventeen, that’s when I was bit by that spider.”

“Fifty thousand if you retrieve this for me.” Someone offered, sliding an image across a table.

“Make it a hundred, and I might even consider being quiet this time.” Another voice said.

“Alright. A hundred and you start as soon as possible. I want my artefact found!”

The other voice ran off, beginning their mission.

“Boss, I’ve given the location of the artefact to them. The tracker was a brilliant idea.” Someone new entered the room.

“Yeah, let’s just hope this all goes smoothly.”

“You hired a mercenary sir. I doubt this’ll go as smoothly as you want.”

“Mercenary’s get the job done, even if they are just retrieving something. I don’t care what they have to do or who they’ll kill to be successful.” The man stated, exiting the room.

“How’s this look?” Tony asked, holding an image up of a suit he’s just designed for Peter. “It looks good, not my colour but it’s awesome.” Peter replied.

“You don’t like the red and gold?” Tony frowned.

“I love it, it’s just not my colour. It’s more yours.”

“Yeah, I’ll change it to blue and red or black and red if you want.” Tony placed the tablet back down.

“No, no. It’s fine, honestly. It reminds me of your suit. It’s great, thank you.” Peter giggled, getting up to hug Tony.

“I added a heater.” Tony added.

“I’m going to try get some sleep, I haven’t been getting much sleep with swinging around out there all day and night. Good night.” Peter yawned.

“Night Pete. I’ll try not to make too much noise.”
