Chapter 3
When Illy woke up she found The Brunette in a chair near the bed. Completely oblivious to her surrounding as she was so invested in her book. The Russian gave herself a few minutes of shameless staring. Her eyes trailed across Dani's face, her brows were furrowed together as she focused on her book. From her chocolate brown orbs who could melt her heart and her perfectly sculptured nose down to her soft, kissable lips.
Everyday Illy fell harder for the girl. If that was even possible.
After a moment she decided to make her presence noticeable to the still oblivious bookworm. "Hey" She said, a little hoarse. The Chayenne looked up from her book and gave Illy a warm smile, it immediately filled her heart. Dani stood, and gave her girlfriend a soft kiss. "You scared me" She said when she pulled back. "I'm sorry" The Blonde responded truthfully. "I didn't know it would cost me that much energy." She looked down at her hands, then back at Dani with an apologetic look on her face.
"It's okay, just let me heal you next time okay?"
"Dani no, I'll take too much from you" Illy started "I can't let you do that."
"You'll let me, because otherwise I'm not letting you go to Limbo with me anymore" The older stated firmly. No way there was going to be a debate about this. Not now, and not in a million years.
The Russian wasn't happy about this so she proposed another option. "How about I'll let you heal me, but only up to a certain point. Then I'll feel good enough and you won't use up all you energy?"
The Brunette considered it for a moment before agreeing. "My girlfriend is so smart" Illy blushed, muttering something.
"What was that?" Dani asked smugly.
"Shut up" She Pale Blonde said.
"Make me"
And The Russian did. She kissed her softly, a bit unsure of what to do. Dani just pulled her closer and took the lead, kissing her a bit more firm. She bit the younger's lip resulting in a gasp from Illy. Dani took this opportunity to let her tongue slide in, as this resulted in another whimper from The Blonde. It boosted Dani's confidence to say the least.
Illy shivered as the older got bold and snaked her hands under her shirt. Just as she saw slowly going upward there was a knock on the door.
It was Scott, he said dinner was ready and if they wanted to they could join them. Apparently the others had decided to do so, that's why he had come to ask.
They said they would be there in a second, Scott shrugged and left.
"Seems like we'll never be able to finish this" Dani remarked.
"Tell me about it, but the first time it was your fault though. But come on, I'm starving" The Brunette playfully rolled her eyes at the accusation and helped Illyana get up.
Since the poor girl was still a bit unsteady from their recent trip to Limbo, Dani thought the least she could do was help her walk.

When the two of them arrived Rahne was the first to spot them. She immediately walked over to them, helping Dani with the youngest. When they sat her down Rahne asked The Chayenne what happened, only getting a 'I'll tell you later' as response. She was not one to pry so she just let it be, now was probably not the best time anyway.
The rest just didn't ask. Smart.
When everyone was eating, (except for Sam, he kept bugging their newfound 'friends?' about their powers) they were happy. It was great talking to everyone, not having any danger around was nice too. And it was really entertaining to watch Berto trying to calm Sam down, needless to say that he didn't succeed.
How is he (Sam) the oldest? Dani thought.
They also met a new man, Charles Xavier. His students apparently called him 'Professor X' but he didn't mind.
Charles was delighted to meet them and was very interested in their stories. Where they came from and what they'd been through.
He asked everyone individually, first Berto, as he didn't really mind telling his story. He didn't think it was that special anyway.
Next were Rahne and Sam, Rahne didn't tell everything and was a bit more quiet but it didn't really matter as Sam told his whole life story. (And probably that of his three lives before that.)
He also asked Dani, she didn't really have much to tell. At least that's what The Chayenne told him.
Then there was Illyana, she didn't really want to share. But for some reason The Professor just kept pushing her and then, out of the blue, he just stopped. The five mutants were confused to say the least, not that they minded because he was kinda getting creepy.
"Professor, don't" Jean warned him, but it was already too late. He was already entering Illy's mind as the poor girl just experienced it all, unable to do a single thing about it. She saw all of her worst memories flashing by, memories she wished she could forget and also those that she thought had already been forgotten. They were all coming back, haunting her.
When Dani realized what The Professor was doing to her girlfriend she used her own powers against him. But she also contained her powers a bit. We don't want another fear to be walking out into the real world right?
So The professor saw his own fear. After a while he stopped attacking Illyana and Dani wanted to back down from The Professor, (Who was she kidding?) but she just let him suffer just a bit more. Just a few seconds though, he deserved it.
"You do that again and I'll do so much worse" The Brunette threatened him.
Berto and Sam were by her side in an instant, threatening him as well. Rahne was checking if The Russian was okay, luckily she was. Just a bit shaken up she told Rahne, Dani knew that was a lie, she was just putting up a brave face. It made her heart heavy seeing the younger like this.
The Professor apologized and they forgave him (not really).
He promised he wouldn't do it ever again and frankly didn't know what came over him. Dani actually believed him.
The remainder of the evening they just chatted and had a good time. The Pale Blonde was a bit more quiet than usual but she reassured Dani that she was having a good time as well.
The five mutants eventually got to bed one by one, well actually no. Berto and Sam went together and not long after Rahne, Illy and Dani decided to go as well. The trio walked through the long corridors when Rahne spoke. "What happened earlier, that you couldn't even walk properly?"
Illy struggled to answer, not finding the words. God, the English Language was a pain in the ass sometimes.
"Well, this moron over here" Dani started, pointing at Illyana "decided not to tell me that transporting two people to Limbo and back would take a ton of energy, so when we got back she passed out.
"Wait, you actually took her to Limbo?" The wolf asked Illy. She nodded shyly, blush already spreading.
"Damn"
"Anyway, that's why she had trouble walking and everything"
The wolf was impressed with their youngest. Illyana was quite a private person so to take Dani with her to Limbo was actual progress. She couldn't be more proud of her.The Russian always put up this persona of being this badass woman but Rahne knew this wasn't the case. It was protection, but she respected it.
When the three of them reached Rahne's room they said their goodnights and went their separate ways.
As the two of them reached their shared room they just went straight to bed. Brushing their teeth and putting on their pajamas. It was all new, the school had provided them with the basic needs.
They laid down in separate beds but after like two minutes Illy got out of bed and went to Dani. She got in and snuggled into her, head resting comfortably in the older's neck.
"Illy" Dani asked after a while. "Yeah?"
"What did he show you?" She felt The Pale Blonde tense up. Illyana looked up, unsure how to tell her.
"You don't have to tell me" Dani reassured her, seeing the uncertainty in the younger girl's eyes. Already feeling guilty she asked her.
"No I want to, I just- It's just easier to show you. I think you would understand it better if I showed you."
"But Illy, how can you show me? They are memories." Dani was so confused, it was like she was saying that humans could fly, and that would even make more sense.
"I-I can show people memories. It's kinda what you can do with showing people their fears, I can do that with memories." The Russian explained.
"How-"
Illy didn't let her finish. "The hospital, if you can even call it that, they experimented on me. I was their perfect soldier but I lacked one thing, a power to hurt people from the inside." She continued, breath hitching. "So they experimented on me and gave me a new power, but it was flawed. I could only show them memories, not manipulate them. They- They tried to fix it several times over the years but never succeeded."
"Illy... I'm so sorry" The Chayenne said, she didn't know it was this bad. She didn't know they experimented on the poor girl. Those animals.
"They- they didn't give up on me though. I- I was their perfect soldier if I just didn't fight them." The Russian was sobbing and Dani tried her best to comfort her but well... how could anybody?
Illy cried and cried until at one point she passed out from exhaustion.
Dani's heart absolutely shattered at the sight. The younger girl had gone through so much at such a young age. This girl was so broken that Dani wasn't even sure she would ever be completely healed. But one thing she was sure of, she wanted to understand it all.
Her heart ached by the thought that she would have to ask Illy to show her all of her memories. This meant that Illyana had to relive them once more, but then she would finally understand all of the mysterious blonde Russian. The person that she loved most in this world.
After all of this thinking, Dani finally drifted off to sleep.
