Car Accident

After the incident, Сarina took another week of vacation. Maya helped her get used to cars and the street. It was hard at first, but by the end of the week, the brunette could walk down the street without fear of cars. The only time she got scared was when a car drove by at high speed, but the firefighter immediately calmed her down and they went home together.

Now Сarina is 19 weeks pregnant. Her arm healed completely and recovered in about a month, her leg in two weeks. Now the doctor was finishing her twelve-hour shift and was planning to go to the station to see Maya, so as soon as Jo came on shift, Сarina immediately said goodbye to everyone and went to the parking lot to her car.

To the blonde woman's great joy, her wife had no problems with driving, which reassured and pleased her. Of course, she could bring and pick up Сarina every time, but only at first, then it would be very inconvenient

Maya was sitting in the dining room when she heard someone coming up the stairs and she could tell exactly who it was. Carina had a heavy walk before, and now it was even more heavy, so it was easy to recognize her. The firefighter immediately prepared a place next to her so that her wife could sit down comfortably.

"Bambina!" - Сarina shouted as soon as she saw Maya.

"Yes, my love?" - Maya replied with a smile

"Your child is very hungry and misses you"

"Then come, the food is almost ready."

Сarina walked around the table and stood by the stove to see what was cooking in a huge pot

"Andy's cooking some Spanish dish, I can't even pronounce its name," Maya said as she approached Сarina and hugged her around the waist.

"Can we go to your bunks?" - Carina said, ignoring the blonde's words.

"Yes, of course. Are you tired or sick?" - Maya began to worry abruptly;

"I'll feel bad if you don't kiss me in two minutes," the brunette said very quietly, her eyes burning with desire. Maya loved it, their sex life was even better during her pregnancy than before.

As soon as the wives were in the lieutenant's room, the doctor immediately began kissing and running her hands over the blonde's body. Maya, in turn, did not stop these actions, even though she was on shift, but suddenly heard the phone ring. She realized that it was not hers, but Сarina's.

"No, no, no, why should bambini be born now?"

"Do you want a ride?"

"No, it's okay, you're still at work."

"Shouldn't you be there, maybe ask Wilson to see the patient and we can finish what we started?" - Maya asked with a small smirk.

"I would like to do this very much, but I have to go. Ti amo" - Сarina said, quickly kissing her wife on the lips and leaving the room

"I love you too, don't drive too fast and be careful."

The brunette waved and left the station

"What did you just have?" - Maya jumped at Vic's question, as if she had grown out of the ground

"Nothing, a kiss, and then she was called," the firefighter could be seen rolling her eyes as hard as she could

"It's okay, you'll have time, let's go eat what Andy has cooked."

"Maya, where is Сarina, I thought I saw her at the station today?" - The Latina asked the lieutenant as soon as she entered the dining room.

"She went to the hospital, they called her. She won't be coming to the station today," the blonde said sadly, causing everyone in the room to sigh. The whole team loved Сarina as if she were one of their own, so everyone was sad that she would not be at the lunch.

As soon as everyone had eaten, they started to go about their business when the horn sounded, calling an ambulance to the scene of the accident. Andy and Ben were on duty that day. They immediately ran and a few seconds later the team heard them drive off. The response time of 19 was the best in the state.

About 10 minutes later, the horn sounded again, but the whole team was called. Everyone was confused, weren't they supposed to call rescuers and firefighters before the ambulance, why would they need another crew.

As soon as the cars arrived, they were greeted by a picture of two cars that had collided bumper to bumper, one was definitely driving in the wrong lane. The team didn't see any firefighters from the other station, but they didn't have time to ask questions, they had to help the victims.

Maya had just gotten out of the car and hadn't yet seen the scene when Andi ran up to her.

"Maya, don't worry. But Сarina is there."

"What??? She should be in the hospital, it's been 20 minutes. It can't be Сarina" - the blonde began to shake her head in denial, but her legs started moving towards the cars anyway

"Bishop! Just don't touch her!" Ben began to shout when he saw the lieutenant.

"Сarina! Сarina, can you hear me?" - Maya ran to the door and saw that her wife's head was turned the other way;

The blonde ran around the car from the other side to see the face of her love. As soon as she saw him, her breath caught in her throat: there were many cuts, blood was flowing from his head down his forehead, and his eyes were closed

Vic and Travis went to check on the other driver and saw that the car was empty. He had simply fled the scene without reporting it. The two firefighters panicked when they realized that it took about 5 minutes to get from the station to the accident site, leaving Сarina lying there alone with unknown injuries for about 15 minutes;

Hughes approached Herrera to tell her about the driver and her hunch, which made the lieutenant's hair stand on end. She wanted to scream and cry at what had happened to her friend. But she had to start doing something helpful, only she could pull Maya away so that others could help Carina

"Maya, go away, let Ben work."

"No, I have to be with her. Ben, why hasn't she woken up yet? We've been here for a long time, we've already given her the medicine. Why is she still unconscious?"

"Bishop, you need to calm down, you're not going to help me in a panic. Step aside and let someone else take over."

"You're not going to tell me what to do, Warren."

"He won't be, but I will," Andy chimed in.

"No, please, don't put me off, this is my wife, this is the mother of my unborn child.... Oh my God, the baby, is she alive? Ben check, I'm begging you. Сarina won't survive if she loses the baby"

"I'll check, but you have to move away."

"Okay, just check," Maya stepped away from the car and Vic immediately hugged her. While the blonde stood there almost not breathing, Ben tried to check the baby with the ultrasound Owen had donated for the PRT car a few years ago. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief when they heard the baby's fast and strong pulse. At that moment, Maya broke down in her friend's arms and started crying

"He's fine, he's alive and well, but we have to move because there's fluid in Сarina's stomach."

"Hе?" - Everyone instantly looked from Ben to May.

"Shit, Maya, I'm sorry, it was an accident, I didn't mean to say it" - Ben started to apologize, he knew that the wives were supposed to find out the sex the next day, but the accident changed all plans

"It's okay, thank you for saying that, I have something to think about now. I'm going to have a son" - tears came to the firefighter's eyes again

"Maya, congratulations. I'm so happy for you," Andy started to say, followed by Vic, Travis, Jack and the rest of the team, but they were interrupted by the sound of the monitor attached to Сarina

"We have to get her out and fast," the surgeon shouted, and everyone started moving quickly. It was quite difficult to cut Сarina out because her legs were stuck under the console. But in a few minutes, the doctor was already lying on a shield for transfer. The situation looked worse than everyone thought at first. Her legs were broken in several places, especially the right one, and it was bleeding, which was immediately stopped with a tourniquet.

Maya almost fainted from what she saw in front of her. Her always strong and unbreakable wife is lying on a gurney fighting for her life

Carina was loaded into the ambulance, where Ben and Travis hopped in, and Andy took the wheel. Maya was already starting to yell at everyone for not letting her ride in the ambulance with them, but there was no time to argue, so Herrera just slammed the back door and drove off. The rest of the team also jumped into the cars and drove to Grey Sloan

While the ambulance was on the way, Ben kept an eye on the monitor and Travis checked Сarina for other injuries they might not have noticed at first. They were all concerned that Сarina hadn't woken up yet, and they didn't know if she was conscious before they arrived.

Maya was very nervous and twisted the ring on her finger. While they were driving, she decided that she would text Gabriella and her mom about the situation. But suddenly she saw a message that had just come to her phone:

"Maya, I've had an accident, help me"

Her heart sank, it is not known when Сarina wrote this message, but she was able to find the strength to write it. The firefighter was distracted from his thoughts by another message

"I love you, Maya, and I always will. Bambina loves you too"

After the last message, Maya had a full-blown hysteria. Everyone else in the car couldn't figure out what had happened until Vic grabbed her phone and read the message out loud. There was silence for a few seconds, and then everyone started moving closer to their lieutenant to support her

The rescue car arrived at Grey Sloan almost immediately after the ambulance. Сarina was already being taken to Trauma 1 when everyone entered the main hall.

Only the best worked on it: Miranda, Addison, Meredith, Teddy, and Pierce was not far away in case if something happened.

All the firefighters were herded into the waiting room, where no one could find a seat because of the excitement. Maya, on the other hand, was sitting still, which alarmed Andy and Vic.

"Maya, she will be fine."

"She's in good hands," Vic said, echoing Andy's thoughts.

"This is the third time in 4 months," Maya muttered, but the two firefighters heard her

"What's the third time for four places?" - asked the Latin American woman.

"Сarina is on the verge of death for the third time in 4 months and for the third time I am sitting there and can't help" - this time Maya said it loud and clear and after a few seconds she started crying again. Her friends immediately came to her and without saying a word put their hands on the blonde's legs. This movement touched Maya and she realized that this was her family, only the biggest part of the family was now fighting for their lives in the operating room.

Well, what kind of part would it be in my performance without the first-person experience?

***Сarina***

I left the station and went to the parking lot where my car was. Lately, I had fallen out of love with unexpected calls to work, but I loved my job, so I happily got in the car, started the engine and drove to the hospital. My favorite Italian song was playing on the speaker, and suddenly I felt a push in my belly, at first I was scared, but then the most sincere smile played on my face - the baby moved for the first time, she was also active before, but now even Maya could hear the kick;

I realized that I had been distracted for a very long time when I looked up and saw a car coming right into my car; Maya has told me many times what to do in a situation where there is no time to even swerve to the other side: in order to escape in a head-on accident or when you collide with a stationary obstacle, you should rest your arms and legs on the area in front of you. The head must be drawn into the shoulders, the chin pressed to the chest. I managed to do everything in a few seconds, but I decided that I would put my hands on the barely visible belly to protect our baby; The next second, everything went dark

"Dr. Сarina DeLuca-Bishop, you have lived an amazing life," suddenly Сarina heard a voice, but she could not see the face of the person speaking to her.

"Who are you? I don't know you"

"Perhaps, you'll excuse my manners, my name is Lucas Ripley."

"Wait, you're the former chief of the fire department and Vic's fiancé?"

"Oh, so you do know me," Lucas smiled his trademark smile

"But I don't understand why this time you did."

"What do you mean, doctor?"

"You can just call me Сarina. The last time I almost died, I saw different people. I thought I would see my family or friends again, but I didn't expect to see you. We don't even know each other."

"Well, Сarina, last time, you saw the hard moments in the lives of people close to you, so they were in front of you, but this time it's more complicated and much more" Ripley didn't have time to finish when Сarina saw not darkness, but the scene of the collision. Her breath caught in her throat, the scene was horrifying. She saw the driver of the other car frantically get out of the driver's seat, look around and run

"He's just running away without even telling the rescuers," Chief Ripley said calmly.

"What am I going to do now, how will Maya realize that something is wrong?" - because of the hormones that were active even now, I cried

"You have a minute"

"What? What minu....?" - I didn't have time to finish when I felt a sharp pain in my legs and head, I opened my eyes and realized what Lucas was talking about. I have to use the time rationally.... no, I'm going to die anyway, so at least I'll let Maja know that I will love her until my last breath;

I didn't have time to think long, so I wrote down the main thing, then dialed the dispatcher's number, but I didn't have the strength to speak, so I just mumbled into the microphone and hoped they would understand me. A second later, I was back at Ripley's.

"I knew you would do it, I'm proud of you, but now, unfortunately, I have to go to the hospital."

"Am I going to wake up now? It hasn't been long enough," I started to joke, but when I looked at the chief's face, I realized that I would probably never wake up again.

"We're just going to the hospital," the man said in a slightly cheerful voice, and it gave me more hope than I had before
