Epilogue.
Small butterfly kisses felt going from the shoulders to her neck, making her unconsciously smile in her slumber. Five more minutes, she mouthed. As an answer, she felt two small vibrations in her neck coming from Bucky. That was a no from him. To lighten up the mood he held her by the waist and moved for him to purposely be beneath her. Hearing her giggles was music to his ears. He made sure she looked at him before speaking.
“What do you want for breakfast?” She softly smiled and laid on his naked chest. Pancakes, she whispered. “Well, pancakes it is. Are you feeling like helping me?” After Kenya shook her head, he placed a soft kiss on her forehead. “Breakfast in bed it is.” He reaffirmed, while standing up and going to the apartment’s kitchen.
While laying against the headboard, she saw how Bucky took out the ingredients and smiled at her whenever he felt her staring. Letting out a sigh, the girl looked at her nightstand and the hearing device Tony gave her a few weeks ago. It worked perfectly, but she figured out she’d never feel comfortable with herself if she depended on it. So, as she once embraced and worked on her powers, she was slowly dealing with the fact that she was a deaf 25-year-old. Now, her condition wasn’t too hard to adapt to, giving the fact she knew sign language beforehand, and her reading lip’s ability has always been immaculate.
“I dreamed with Wanda again.” She talked, while sitting on the kitchen isle. “But it didn’t feel like her. She had this psychotic look in her eyes and it kinda worried me.”
“Let’s visit her.” She read his lips, shrugging her shoulders as a response.
“I don’t know where she lives.”
“Well, let’s find out.” He smiled, while placing a hand above hers. Kenya grinned at the action; whenever nostalgia and bittersweetness hit, he was always there for her.
*
“New Jersey?” Bucky frowned.
“Makes sense.” She explained. “Vis bought a property for them to grow old together.” She said while wearing a worried look.
It was pretty much genetic to have self-destroying reactions when being too sad, but Wanda didn’t give any signs of bad reacting after being back to a world without him. At least not as bad as she could have. After travelling in Bucky’s motorcycle for a while they were able to arrive at the neighborhood she remembered very well. He sensed her unwellness and tightened the grip on her hand.
“She’ll be fine, trust me.” Kenya absently nodded. When reaching to a more silent point, she let out the hearing device and turned it on.
“Say it again.” She asked, trying to not be weird about hearing herself.
“She’ll be fine.” He reassured.
The minute the property was on view Kenya’s heart warmed. There was a house. When walking around her garden to knock the door she could hear people inside. That was a good sign, right? Sensing it was too hard for her, Bucky rang the bell instead. As the seconds passed, she held his hand tighter. Her dissociation was so big that when the door opened, she jumped scared. A tangle haired Wanda, with pajamas and a bowl of an unknown mixture in one hand showed on the other side.
“Zeko? What are you doing here? Is everything okay?” She asked, concerned.
“I had a dream last night and… well, it’s a long story. Did we interrupt something?”
“Well, I…”
“Ms. Maximoff!” Two young kids ran to their direction. A boy and a girl, they had no more that 5 years.
“I was going to call… eventually. Come inside.” The inside of the house was pretty… messy. “Jen, Dylan, could you watch TV for a moment? I’ll be there in a minute.” They listened, and then she led them to the kitchen. “I was going to contact you but…”
“You’ve been busy.” Bucky added, and the red headed nod.
“After seeing you in the hospital I’ve been… on a very dark place. One day, I gathered the strength to see this place and it broke me. Even for a second, an intrusive thought went through my mind, and I almost went insane, but the feeling was quickly replaced by you. I remembered each kid you mentioned from the foundation centers, and thought that maybe, just maybe there was a chance of healing.” She explained.
“Wait, these kids are yours? I’m an aunt?” Kenya smiled. “Are you kidding? I’m so happy right now.” Tears formed in the girl’s eyes as she went close to hug her sister. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”
“Well, I was going to, but after being discharged you were busy with the foundation, then the Flag Smashers, and then him.” She gave Bucky a funnily angry look. “Also, do you know how hard is raising two kids? I thought it’d be easier after well, having you as a small sister.” She joked, making everyone laugh. “I didn’t know I could help you from the distance that one time.” Kenya nodded, remembering the night she lost her hearing abilities. “Honestly, the last thing I remember sometimes is that I have powers. But it’s good to know though.”
“Yeah.” She bittersweet smiled. “Well, the main reason I’m here is because I’ve been dreaming about you. Like, lucid dreams.” Her sister frowned at her words.
“How am I in those dreams?”
“Well, it’s weird. I saw you coming here before the house was built, and all I remember after that was red and red only.”
“That’s not a coincidence.” Her happy demeanor became more serious.
“Can we watch the Minions movie again?” One of the kids asked.
“I’ll help.” Bucky got ahead and Wanda thanked him.
“I’ve been dreaming about me, too. But it looks like another me.”
“You from another timeline?”
“No, unfortunately.” She sighed and held her coffee cup. “Me from another multiverse. It’s a bit hard to explain. They say that our dreams are memories from our other lives. Maybe you dream with mine as well because, there’s no you in another Universe.” Suddenly, Wanda’s eyes became red, and she didn’t look like herself anymore. “Hello, you.”
“Wanda?” The woman felt nothing like her. Her older sister’s body was being used.
“Not the one you now.” She severed and looked at everyone in the living room. Bucky stared at them and sensed Kenya’s tension. “Make him know that everything’s okay or else I’ll blow his head in a second.” Trying to avoid shaking she reassuringly smiled at him, who got distracted by the kids anyway.
“What do you want.” She whispered. “I can give you anything but please let my sister and everyone else alone.”
“Relax, I was coming for you anyway. We’ll get you out of here.” Dark Wanda snapped one of her fingers and some sort of portal opened behind her. Bucky turned again but it was too late, only observing her mouthing a last “I love you” as she signed with her hands before being pushed pushed inside it. While falling, she saw how her Wanda was freed making her feel a little more calmed.
“Zeko!”
