Steve Round 1
Steve frowned up at Spider-Man, who was perched on a building. “I thought we were patrolling.” Steve said pointedly.
“I’m listening.” Spidey explained.
“Well I hope you would be-“
“No, I mean I’m listening for trouble. Daredevil taught me this. Using our enhanced hearing, we’re able to scan larger areas for trouble all at once, which means we have a better chance of helping people in need.”
Steve felt a bit embarrassed for having thought the young hero wasn’t taking things seriously. “I-I’m sorry, Spider-Man, that’s actually very impressive.” Steve apologized. He went quiet so as not to be disruptive.
“Get your game face on, Cap, we’ve got some creeps a couple blocks away.” Spidey chirped, hopping up and beginning to swing.
Steve muttered something to the effect of ‘oh shit’, realizing he needed to move much faster if he was going to keep up. For now, though, he would just have to run. He followed Spider-Man down the street into an alley, though, by the time he got there, the men were webbed to the walls and Spider-Man was trying to calm down some poor young woman.
“Cap, you think you could walk her home? I’m going to call the cops, tell them what happened.” Spidey said gently. Steve nodded. “Miss? This is Steve Rogers, he’s a friend. He’s also Captain America, so he’s gonna walk you home. He’s old fashioned like that.” he joked, getting a weak but sincere laugh from the lady.
Steve offered her his arm, giving a warm and gentle smile. She took his arm, and he let her lead the way. Steve had to admit, if ‘patrol’ involved helping the victims and making them feel safe after things like this, he didn’t think he would be able to give it up.
