Five More Minutes

Brunnhilde woke to unbearable sunlight shining on her. Usually, she would appreciate this because the Valkyries don’t tend to see much sun due to where their chambers are, but she hated it today. She blamed it on not getting enough sleep, the sunshine was a reminder that she had a life to live and couldn’t spend the day sleeping, still….

“Five more minutes, please Amora, I’m begging you”.

Amora didn’t respond, she knew that if she ignored her wife’s antics for long enough Brunnhilde would eventually give in. So, instead of looking at her, she absentmindedly flipped through the “Royal Family Updates” article in the “Asgard Announcement Scroll”.

“A royal child has been birthed,” said Amora, since the material she was reading piqued her interest.

“Oh? Frigga gave birth again? I didn’t know she was expecting” Brunnhilde said as she crawled over to her wife, finally getting up. Amora smiled knowing her tactic had worked, it was subtle though, the other Valkyrie would never know.

“It’s Hela’s” said Amora with a bit of venom in her voice, she knew that the Goddess of Death was too dangerous to live among them, but she wouldn’t dare to say her opinion out loud, not at this time, it was much too political for the Asgardians.

“Hmm, honestly I’m surprised that witch could squeeze out another one”

“Brunn!”

“What? I’m sure the baby is lovely, probably won’t grow up to be though…”

“Well I’m sure Odin will find something to do with the boy”

“Yes yes, Odin knows best doesn’t he.”

Brunnhilde said this with sarcasm in the back of her voice. Amora rolled her eyes, done with the conversation and ready to eat.

“Well I’m sure we’ll find out more at breakfast,” Amora said lightly.

Brunnhilde was already out the door, enthused at the idea that she’d be getting food.
