It was truly miserable in the rain. Even Gods disliked the rain. Honestly, Loki had no idea who he could go to for anything on this forsaken planet. Momentarily, the temptation of revealing himself to Heimdall struck him- he would be brought home and he could see Thor and his Mother. Loki had to admit that despite the absolute abject horror that filled him at the idea of seeing Odin, his Brother and Mother had been kind to him a majority of the time. Thor was uncomprehending of the shadow he cast on Loki but it was still difficult not to resent him. The idea of never going home was horrific, but Loki wasn’t ready yet to see Odin nor to explain to everyone why he had left and why he had let go.
Why had he let go of Thor’s hand? Honestly, Loki wasn’t even sure. Everything just seemed too much. Finding out he was Jotun, and it clicking into place with the disdain his father had always shown him, the reluctance toward the same touch he so easily offered Thor- it drove him over the edge. Literally, it seemed. The resentment in him had just snapped. Loki didn’t even remember if Thor had truly looked so horrified or if the tears he remembered just made it look that way.
When did Loki start resenting Thor so much due to the neglect of his Father that he had forgotten how he and his brother used to be? He was right, Thor had needed to be more mature to rule, but the raging jealousy and raw bitterness at his older brother had almost killed him. He had almost killed his own brother. Maybe Loki truly was the heartless monster of a Jotun that Odin saw in place of a son. Loki and Thor may not have been the best of friends more recently, but it wasn't fair to resent him so much, he had not even done anything to deserve it. Hating Thor for Odin’s actions was as bad as what Odin had done to him.
It hurt so much realising it. Loki was like Odin, and not like his Mother as he had always thought. He wanted to fall off of that bridge again now.
-----------------------------------
Loki hurt. He couldn't explain the extent of it. He had been spiralling, he knew that, but now he was miraculously elsewhere with a pounding headache from dehydration and a stiff neck from whatever position he had fallen asleep in. He forced his eyes open to sit up and look around and his heart ached. He must have fallen asleep after creating an illusion of his bedchambers from Asgard. They did always comfort him; he could see the grounds Thor trained on from one window and his Mother's garden from the other. Basically, it was the perfect place to watch his family relax while not having to worry about interrupting them.
"BROTHER!" Was yelled from beyond the door in a dangerously familiar voice than both made his stomach sink and his heard twist in bitter, loving agony. A loud knock shook the door frame. So this was real...? How? "I would like to enter, Loki, may I open the door?"
Despite himself, Loki found himself smiling fondly. "Brother, since when have you been one to knock or ask politely. If you're some creature of the nine currently pretending to be my brother, your act is poor at best." The gasp and slamming of the door against the wall that followed should have been expected, and yet, Loki flinched at the noise regardless. "Now now Thor, I did not say you could enter. Though I suppose it is too late now, you're already in here."
"Loki, you truly are alive. Me, Mother and Father were all so-"
"Thor, do not call Odin my father, because he isn't one to me"
"But you called me Brother"
"Just because you are his son and my brother, does not make him my Father."
"I apologise."
"I do as well, Thor" Loki said nervously, wringing his hands together. "Thor, before I dropper myself into the void i was cruel to you. I mistreated you so harshly that it reminded me of Odin and how he mistreated me and I do not wish that upon anyone, least of all you. Please... accept my apology?"
"No Loki I can't accept that apology," He flinched and cast his eyes down, fighting back tears. "Brother, you were cruel to me, but I allowed myself and my warriors three to be the same, if not worse. You were suffering. I understand that. Although, now we are once more brothers, we could go hunting. If you truly must make it up to me"
"You are an insufferable oaf, Thor Odinson."
(They went hunting. things got better.)
