Arya's Decision

Arya sat in her bedroom surrounded by the mementos of her childhood, but with the adult upgrade of course. She loved this room, this house, and the memories it held within it's walls. The curtains were closed and the door was shut tight. Her eyes brimmed with tears as she fought the pain in her skull and the longing to kill that pumped in her veins. She didn't want this. None of it. She hated vampires, and now she was becoming one. How could she face her sisters ever again? She was the one thing that caused the devastation in their family. That caused so much hurt and pain in their hometown of Mystic Falls. While she understood she didn't do this on purpose, she never would, she felt guilty. Guilty for allowing herself to get involved. But she had to get involved. But why her? Why did Hela choose to turn her? If the vampire was to seek revenge on anyone it would most likely be the person who shot at her. Arya's sister Jane was the one to orchestrate a full blown attack on her. Did Hela do this to hurt her? To get back at her for something? Arya didn't know, but she needed answers.

A knock came to Arya's door and she immediately slouched into her bed. She didn't want to see anyone. Especially her sisters. It pained her to even look at them. She was now a walking constant reminder of their parent's death. How could she live with herself?

"I spoke with Stephen. I told him you were sick. He said you don't have to come in for the rest of the week. That should buy us some time to figure something out." Erin said walking into her sister's bedroom and taking a seat at her dark wooden desk and chair by her bedroom window. She made an effort to stay at least a few feet away from Arya at all times. Not just due to her new found immortality, but because she knew she needed her space right now. Arya didn't much like to he coddled or touched all the time.

"What is there to figure out? I'm a monster. I can't live like this." Arya said running her hands through her tangled hair. She looked a mess.

"One step at a time, okay? First step, go take a shower and comb your hair. You look insane. Jane and I will figure something out." Erin said twirling a piece of her dark hair with her right hand while tapping the top of Arya's desk with her other hand. She was nervous.

"There is nothing to figure out. Just let me go." Arya said standing up and walking to her bathroom. She stopped before closing the door and looked at Erin. She had a look of pure sadness in her eyes. She hated the way her situation was affecting Erin.

"Shower. We will talk later." Erin said then left the room.

Arya reluctantly showered and combed her hair upon her sister's request. She washed her face and moisturized. Hoping to bring some life back to her skin for the time being. She tried her best, but she still looked wrecked. After braiding her hair back and pulling on a fresh pair of leggings and an oversized band tee, Arya sat at her desk and pulled out a notebook and pen. She held her breath as she began writing. The words flowed from her mind as easily as water flows in a stream. As her tears fell they left droplets on the pages. Arya wrote a letter to each of her sisters, to Tony, to Darcy, and to Stephen. The people in her life that still held a portion of her heart. She folded the letters in half. Their contents holding well wishes and hopes for a brighter future. A future without her. She had made her decision. Come the cover of night, she would leave her beloved family home and wither away in the old Lockwood cellar until her last breath leaves her lips.

Arya's sisters left her alone for the rest of the day. They offered her food and water but she refused. She knew it wouldn't satisfy her hunger. After a painfully long day Arya locked her bedroom door and escaped through her bedroom window, leaving the hand written goodbye letters on her desk. She ran through the woods as fast as her feet could carry her. She willed her body to forgo the pain she was in and make it to the cellar. The Lockwood family had left Mystic Falls decades ago and the cellar hadn't been used in years. Werewolves were a rarity now in the small town. And while this specific species of supernatural was more favorable to Arya Foster, they were still off-putting to her. But nonetheless, the cellar would aid her in her mission.

As she approached the cellar finally after a grueling journey to it's location; Arya took one last look out into the cool night air. The moon shined down on her as she opened the cellar door and stepped in. She thought about her family. About her parents and her coworkers. She had wished her life didn't have to end like this. In such pain and horrendous torture. But Arya Foster hated vampires. She had no desire to become one and she would be damned if she ever allowed anyone to make this decision for her. A part of her, a small and silent part of her, wished she didn't have to die like this. But she knew it wasn't possible to live on. One of her sisters, or Tony or Darcy, would eventually have to kill her. It was the only way to ensure she wouldn't become a monster. It was the only way to ensure she wouldn't hurt anyone. And she couldn't put that burden on her family, she wouldn't. So she would let it end here. In the cellar she would allow herself to pass without fully turning into the being she had been terrified of her entire existence.
