Chapter 45

4 years prior

Summer had hit the Cradle hard, but it didn’t deter the Sister Warriors from training. Much to Ava’s displeasure. However, the heatwave only encourages the sisters to take up swimming for exercise.

So down the other side of the hill, behind the cradle, down a secluded beach. Close to town, but without a road or track it made the location inaccessible for the average person. Too remote for even the locals to bother using. The Sisters, disguised in normal swimming attire, took over a relatively small beach. Several marquees setup with eskys. Under Superion’s guidance, half the sisters swam across the beach, back and forth. Camila and Serita took the rest of the sisters and setup a running race across the sand. The two groups swapped places every thirty minutes. Lilith and Beatrice swapped groups frequently. Ava and Mary played with the kids, Hanna and Persephone, in the water, convincing the children to hop on their shoulders in the deeper water, then began an extensive splash war for the ages.

Soon spent, Beatrice and Lilith retreated under one of the marquees while Camila and Serita grabbed some drinks from the esky. The rest of the group and Superion, retreated into the water to cool off.

Beatrice and Lilith watched proudly as their respective partners played with the children. Laughing quietly at their partner’s antis and cheering when their respective partner one a fight.

Persephone and Mary gave the girls an almighty shove just as the waves came crashing in. Ava stumbled back and fell into the water. Mary quickly reached out and grabbed Hanna, holding the girl above water while she let her friend sink. “That’s another one for us!” Lilith chuckled as Ava flapped about in the water, trying to stand up in the waves while Mary cackled at her friend’s attempt.
“No matter, I have faith my wife and daughter will win this war” Beatrice stated.

Lilith laughed, turning to her friend smugly. “Good luck with that”

Ava managed to stand up again. Hanna was handed back over and once the girl was perched on her mother’s shoulders, the two resumed the fight.

Camila and Serita joined the pair, handing them each a bottle of freezing cold water. “who’s winning?” Camila asked as they took a seat either side of the pair.

“Mary and Persephone” the ladies both said. Followed by Beatrice’s quick quip “not for long”

“Please” Lilith dismissed. “My girls has got this in the bag”

“We shall see”

“Well it looks like they’re having fun” Camila comment amused. “How’s the bar coming along?”

“Yeah we haven’t seen you two in a while” Serita added.

“We’re up to the final touches” Lilith answered proudly. “Name is sorted, but we need to organise our branding and settle agreement on wine list”

“Oh I can help you on that one” Serita chuckled.

“And I got friends in the design industry” Camila added. “We’re hook you up”

“Thanks you two” Lilith thanked. She turned to the girls and asked “Does any of your connections include a rat exterminator?”

“Rats?” the three questioned concerned, but none questioned with a higher scared tone then Serita.

“Yeah rats” Lilith spoke. She turned to Serita and asked with a knowing smile “Do you mind helping us get rid of them?”

Serita’s eyes widen fearfully, before she shook her head. Admitting with a scared tone “oh I wish I could, but I uh..gotta wash my hair”

Lilith’s smile widen. “Sure you don’t want to think about it first?”

“Definitely not”

“Well rest assured, we think it’s rats” Lilith spoke, turning back to the surf. “if it’s a thief, then they need to work on their ambitions. Only food and soda”

“Well that’s a relief, but concerning” Camila pointed out. “they must be hungry”

“Doesn’t happen often, only every once and a while, bits of food and drink will go missing or eaten”

“Is there any sign of someone breaking in?” Beatrice asked.

“None, we already reinforced the doors and windows half a dozen times”
“Strange”

Soon the rest of the group came trudging up the beach to the marquee. The kids racing ahead straight for a patch of sand in front of the Marquee and quickly began setting up sandcastle. While Ava collapsed onto Beatrice’s legs backwards and Mary took a went down on her knees by her girlfriend’s feet. Reached over and snagged her drink, taking a sip before collapsing back on her ass in the sand.

“How do they have so much energy” Ava groaned, exhausted.

“They’re kids what do you expect” Mary laughed.

“My love she does take after you” Beatrice insisted, running her fingers through her lover’s hair. She looked past her lover to the children, watching them play. “What are you making?” she called out.

“Sand castles” they replied merrily.

“Ah of course, keep your fluids up”

“Will do Mama” Hanna replied.

The group fell into silent contempt, watching the children build. Till Mary tilted her head to her Baby girl, then addressed the others “did you hear about the rat problem?”

“Yes, just a bit of a problem” Beatrice comment.

“Well we won’t know for sure until it’s cleaned, we're gonna have to bomb the place tonight”

Hanna startled, awake to the voices around her and not just the whispers of her friend. She turned to her aunties worriedly.

“Should be fine after we get back” Lilith agreed. “can’t wait for this holiday”

“You and me both” Mary agreed. “Only six more hours to go and we’re on the first cruise out of here”

Persephone noticed her friend’s strange behaviour first, she raised herself above the sandcastle and asked frighten “are you okay?”

“Fine” Hanna gasped. Hanna rose herself onto her knees and declared loudly “Don’t do that!”

Her family turned to her surprised.

Hanna gulped a nervous breath and repeated “don’t bomb the bar and don’t leave tonight”

“Why not Captain?” Mary questioned bluntly.

“Sweetie your aunties have been planning this trip for a long time” Ava spoke. “Why do you want them to cancel?”

“Perhaps she will miss her favourite aunties too much, is that Right?” Lilith asked with a shit eating grin. She flicked her gaze to the Camila and Serita. Finding the sight of their playful warning glares amusing.

Although Hanna never for claimed any favourites. The Crew never missed a chance to tease each other over it. Hanna wasn’t in the mood to play along with the teasing. She shook her head and asked her aunties Lil and Mary “please stay, it doesn’t have to be all night, just until you find her”

“Her?” The Crew and Persephone questioned.

“She’s just a girl, about our age and you need to find her. Go back to the bar and find her”

“Captain I think we will know if a child has been sleeping in the bar” Mary pointed out.

“Not in the bar, above it, in the ceiling”

Mary frowned while Lilith tipped her head back and wondered aloud “the rats”. She hummed then turned to Hanna. She got on her knees and crawled to Hanna’s side. Taking a kneel to face the girl in the eye. “How do you know a child is in the attic? Did you two meet while you were helping us setup the bar?”

Hanna shook her head firmly. “No” she said. “I just dreamed about it today, I nearly forgotten it until you mentioned it”

“A dream?”

“Yes, I dreamed of Lou Lou and she showed me the girl”

As if the conversation wasn’t concerning enough. The mention of the ghost friend gave new weight to the Crews shoulders.

Ava pulled herself upright while Beatrice scooted over, till knees were pressed into her spine. Ava leaned over her knees and asked with a serious tone “did you just say your imaginary friend told you there’s a girl squatting at your aunties bar?”

“Yes” Hanna answered her mother.

“Did Lou Lou Show you anything else?” Beatrice asked concerned.

“Yes, She’s frighten and hungry” she paused to turn to Mary and continued “be careful with her” then she focused on Lilith and stated “Don’t go left of vinyl box”

Her aunties nodded.

“Okay Captain, we’ll be careful” Mary replies. She turned briefly to her watch, then stated concerned “and since it’s such a hot day, we better head to the bar now”

“Right” Lilith Agreed, jumping to her feet. She turned back to Hanna and asked “did Lou Lou tell you why this girl is sleeping in the attic?”

“No” Hanna answered sadly. “But she doesn’t look happy”

Lilith nodded and she reassured kindly “then your aunties will go and investigate and we won’t return till we find her”

Hanna smiled “you will, I know it”. With once Hanna returned to the sand castle and the two girls resumed playing.

Lilith and Mary ushered the Crew to the other end of the marquee. Back through the shade and into the sun.

“what do you think?” Lilith asked. “I say Mary and I look right now, just in case”

“I agree this is weird, but the outcome is worse if you don’t find her before tonight” Ava pointed out in a hushed tone.

“What’s tonight?” Camila asked confused.

“In this heat the girl is going to be fine with the poison gases...it’s the heat that will hurt her first or even kill her” Ava advised.

Camila gasped while Serita scratches the back of her head. “Oh god you’re right and the heat wave this coming week”

“Then you will have a real rat problem”

“Our daughter is right, the girl needs to be found now” Beatrice states. “We can help with the search” she offered.

“Should be able to find her in no time” Serita agreed.

“True, but a kid that scared isn’t going to like a whole group of people crowding her” Mary pointed out. “Lilith and I will track her down, then we will bring her over tomorrow”

“We’ll see you then”

Mary turned back to the kids and demanded “Hey Captain and flowers get in the marquee and take a break!”

“Okay!” The kids responded.

Mary turned to Lilith and gripped her hand. She then turned to the others and assured “we’ll see you tomorrow”

“We’ll text when we find the kid”

At once the two disappeared with a crackle of light. Leaving the rest of the Crew to the beach, to ponder on Lou Lou warning.

Inside the bar, they appeared. The lights were out except for the red neon lights. The red cast a spell over their bar, transforming their pride and joy into horror pit for the dammed.

However, the dark atmosphere wasn’t their only problem. The heat was already infuriated the building and roasting everything inside. Sweat dripping from their bodies and into their clothes, wet sandy material gluing to their skin. “Geez it’s fucking hot in here” Mary winced. “Bloody power must have blown this morning”

“We can fix that easily enough, I’ll go first” Lilith offered. She turned to her girlfriend and said “you’re much better with the electrics then me”

“Right, take a bottle of water with you. Kid must be sweating a storm up there”

“Will do, see you soon”

The two walked away in opposite directions. Mary for their hidden power panel in the shed and Lilith through the back of the bar. Swinging by the kitchen for some water as she ventured to the attics.

Lilith climbed up the crisscross staircases with more care then most. A two-storey building, but with a second floor full of rotten timber. Most of the problem timber has long been stripped and replaced. Some patches are left standing, marked off so no one takes a wrong tumble. Yet they suspected more damage and so have delayed the move in until the building was safe.

With her Tarask senses, she turned to the roof. The scared drumming of a child’s heartbeat guided her way. She stopped and took a sniff of the second level. Then quickly breathed a reassured sigh no scent, other then her and Mary’s, lingered on the second floor. Lilith turned to the ceiling and continued her way up the floor.

The attic was almost pitch black. Hot streams of sunlight sparked their way cross the room back and forth. Lilith stopped at the landing and started looking around. Ava was right to check this place immediately. This room wasn’t insulated and it boiled. Hotter in here then spending all day outside. She knew the girl was here and alive, she could hear whimpered gasps echoing through the room.

“I know you’re here and you’re not in trouble!” She spoke insisted and the whimpers suddenly ceased. “My name is Lilith, I’m here to help”

No answer.

“You can come out now, we’re not going to hurt you”

No answer.

Lilith hummed. She began her search for the child, looking through every corner, behind every box. Steadily moving further down the room.

She soon stopped at the far end of the room. Up against the back wall was a patch of shadow hidden from the light and in that darkness, was a girl. Curled in a ball, sitting upright and facing her, shaking. The forest green eyes stared unblinking from the darkness that engulfed her. The hard gaze for eyes far too young to develop. There was something in her hand, that much Lilith can tell, but the way the girl curled herself inward made it impossible to tell. Perhaps a doll or a stuffed toy.

“What’s your name little one?” She asked in a gentle sweet tone. A tone she only reserved for her loved ones and scared children. "I have a bottle of water for you, you must be thirsty being up here" she went to hand over the bottle, but the girl pushed herself back. Lilith pulled back and instead opted to roll the bottle forward.

It rolled just into the border of the shadow before a thin hand snatched the bottle off the ground. Ripping off the cap and gulping down every last morsel till the bottle was bone dry. The child dropped the bottle and turned back to Lilith.

“Kelsey” a small, but angry voice croaked out from the shadows.

Lilith smiled. “That’s a lovely name”

“Fuck off”

“Language” She retorted. The word came to her mind the moment her ears heard the curse and her will to stop it was nowhere in sight. Lilith sighed, she scooted closer a step and the girl’s hands jitters with nervous stammer. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to startle you, my friend swears all the time, tell me why are you here?” She asked.

“I’m hiding” the girl admitted.

“From who?”

“The devil”

Lilith drew herself upright. More a moment, she wondered what kind of Devil had made this child flee to their house. Was it human or was it supernatural. Neither answer changed the words she spoke next. “Lucky for you I hunt devils” she stated with confidence laced in her voice and dropped like honey. “My family and I, we hunted and killed our fair share of devils. Even the god of devils, so listen to my words and listen well Kelsey. Under this roof, you are free of the Devil”

The girl hesitated, before she stated with voice laid thick with fear. “you don’t know him”

“And he doesn’t know us”

There was silence in the darkness. Kelsey’s eyes never moved off Lilith, not even to blink. They were studying her. “Who are you?”

“A friend, im here to help”

Lilith went to move forward, but the girl shuddered and growled a furious “Step BACK!”

Lilith did not do as the girl said for the most part, but she did stop moving forward. “Okay, I’ll stay here”

“You better! Tell me who you are!”

Lilith was about to answer when the sounds of the generator cranking filled the room. Suddenly the lights and air con turned on. The little girl was thrown into the spot light. Tall for her age, only a year older then Hanna at most. Thin, starved build, wearing dirty clothes that barely hung to fabric and definitely not over skin. A leather jacket too big for her. Chestnut hair and a messy haircut done in the dark, long in the back and most on the sides, except for scraps of short ends sticking upright from the heat. Lilith’s next worry came at the sight of the old blood on Kelsey’s grey shirt and the dessert eagle gun in her hand.

“Okay” Lilith spoke, eyeing off the gun. She knew that casing will be loaded with nothing, but lead. However the safety of the girl and her girlfriend were paramount. That gun, no threat to her, was a danger to everyone else. Lilith offered her hand out and asked gently “perhaps we got off on the wrong foot, please pass me the gun”

“No!” Kelsey growled. She jumped to her feet, gun raised and Lilith followed suite. “Stay away from me!”

Lilith backed away from the girl, holding her hands up in surrender. “Okay, you don’t have to give it to me, just put it down gently”

“No”

“Kelsey put it down!”

“Not until you tell me who you are!” Kelsey insisted, urging the woman backwards with every step forward.

Lilith heard the crack under her feet and cursed internally. She began searching for the crate Hanna mentioned. “Okay we can talk with the gun in your hands, but only once, then it’s on the floor. One question and I will answer anything you want to know. Do we have a deal?”

Kelsey huffed. She didn’t trust the woman, but the strange suddenly shifty behaviour made her feel uneasy. “Deal” she agreed. “Tell me who you are?”

Lilith turned back to the girl and answered truthfully “My name is Lilith, I am Sister warrior and Commander in the OCS. I work for a secret organisation designed to hunt and kill Demons, to protect humanity with our lives”

“So what, your superhero’s?” Kelsey scoffed.

“In a sense”

“I don’t believe you” Kelsey stepped forward and the floorboards beneath wined under her weight.

Lilith looked to her left and spotted the crate. She cursed internally again for missing it. She looked back to Kelsey and spoke “Time to hold up your end of the bargain, we can chat more from opposite sides of the room if you like”. Lilith rose her hand and flicked her finger to the right. “That window there is unlocked and leads to the next door balcony if you want to escape, but gun down first”

Kelsey hesitates and the longer she stood there. On the creaking floor, the more Lilith’s heart raced with nervous anticipation.

Soon Kelsey gently placed the gun on the floor and slid it to the right. However, she did not move off that spot and that floorboard, began to bend. Kelsey stood up and scoffed, hands on her hips. “How do I know your not with him?”

“Who’s him?”

The floorboards creaked again. Lilith senses their time was up and so sprinted forward. In a flash she captured the girl and roughly pushed her aside. The floorboards gave way with loud crack and Lilith was sent plummeting to the ground. Crashing through the second floor and straight through a table, onto the concrete floor.

Kelsey races to the edge and peered over into the hole Terrified. The shouts of Mary’s voice screamed through the building.

“WHAT THE FUCK BABYGIRL ARE YOU OKAY!” Mary shouted, skidding to the ground by Lilith’s side.

Lilith coughed, blinked twice and turned to Mary. “I’m fine actually, just got the wind kicked out of me”

“Left of the crate?”

“Yep”

“Well aren’t you clever” Mary chuckled. She leaned down, wrapped her hands around Lilith and began heaving the woman up.

“It was either me or the girl”

“Speaking of which” Mary trailed off, the two looked above to the stranger. “Hey kid, are you hungry?” She asked. The kid nodded. “Okay, come down when you are ready, we’ll have lunch”

the girl nodded and she scurried away from the hole. The girlfriends turned van to each other.

“Lou Lou and Hanna were right” Mary states amazed.

“About everything” Lilith huffed.

“What happened up there?”

“She didn’t say much, she’s scared and angry, but she told me she’s been hunted. Kept asking if I’m with him”

“Him?” Mary questioned.

Lilith sighed as they moved for the back bar booth. “The Devil”

“What kind?”

“I don’t know yet” Lilith answered. “I got a feeling it’s human, but we can’t know for sure just yet”

Mary nodded, she helped lower Lilith into the booth. “Lucky we’re demon hunters” she spoke. She drew her hands back and insisted “stay here while I rustle up something”

Lilith smiled and gave her a sharp nod. She watched Mary saunter into the kitchen, a small smile gracing her face as she watched her move. Soon the woman disappeared behind the kitchen door.

A moment later, the door freaked open and Kelsey slipped through. She gave the girl a warning smile and the girl looked at her complex. “Mary is master cook, we’ll be eating like queens soon enough. Just gotta let her do some magic” she complimented.

The girl nodded, but her mind wasn’t on the food. Her stomach was, but not her mind. “How did you do that?”

“Do what?”

“Fall...and be okay”

Lilith drew her head up with a suspicious look “not the first time you seen someone fall from a height”

“No, they don’t survive and they are usually pushed”

Lilith felt her fists tighten. “Okay, why don’t you take a seat and I will explain why I survived”

Kelsey hesitates, but she moved across the room and took a seat opposite Lilith.

Lunch was brilliant, but Lilith wasn’t surprised. She loves her girlfriends cooking and will not stop to boast about her skill. Lilith will never be sick of the small flush Mary will get after Lilith congratulates her on the meal.

When the adults had their fill and Kelsey was on her third helping. Mary pushes the plate aside, leaned back and crossed her arms on the table. “you said your name is Kelsey right?”

Kelsey nodded, she continued eating.

Mary studied her for a few moments, then lean over the table. “but that’s not your real name, is it”

Kelsey dropped her fork with such a force, the object bounced off her bowl, danced off the table and onto the floor. She stared at the table petrified. Her eyes slowly drifted up through the messy bangs and up to the kind eyes of Lilith and Mary. She stared into their eyes. Her hands started to jitter on the table, itching for her to make a break for it. Instead she gulped and the word that came forth next, came out all too soft. “yes”

“What’s your name kid?” Mary insisted.

“Mary” Lilith warned lowly.

Mary reached over the table and grabbed her girlfriend’s hand, without taking her eyes off the kid. “it’s okay” she reassured her lover. “She’s right you know Kelsey, you’re not in trouble and here, you are right to come here. It’s safe”

“why do you want to know?” Kelsey asked.

“Because we want to help the girl who’s running from a devil. My name is Mary, my friends call me Shotgun Mary and you already met my girlfriend Lilith”

Kelsey’s eyes widen. “you two are together” she spoke surprised.

Mary let out a soft hum, then nodded with a gentle smile. “Yes we are”

“But-H-Ho-How-Why?” the kid stumbled, too excited for words.

“Because we love each other” Lilith explained.

“That’s it?”

“That’s it”

“But aren’t you” Kelsey trailed off, leaning over the table as she asked, using her hands to wave pointed fingers at the couple. “aren’t you afraid? To do that thing?”

The ladies shook their heads.

“No, we’re not afraid to be proud of whom we love regardless of gender” Mary explained. “I love the ladies, that’s not going to change, I love my baby girl and that will never change no matter what people say”

Lilith blushed from the compliment. “she’s right, how we live our lives is for our decision alone and everyone else who says otherwise will never understand the freedom it is to be loved and to show it unburden”

Kelsey starred wide eyed at the couple, then suddenly slunk back in her chair. As if the world was suddenly lifted off her shoulders. Showing her a new light. Brooding her mind to new endless possibilities. Her face lit up as her mind calculated those possibilities.

This knowledge of freedom and it’s pure power was almost too much for Kelsey. Her smile faded and she turned back to the couple, to reality. “My real name, is Rigmor..I don’t like it, never had, but the Devil chose it for me because every name reflects who they become and mine was that. A queen to be...” Kelsey trailed off. She sucked in a breath and stated “no I like Kelsey better and please, don’t tell anyone”

“You have our word” the ladies promised together.

Kelsey nodded.

“Do you happen to know how to shot that gun of ours?” Mary asked, slightly changing subjects.

Kelsey nodded, the light dimmed in her eyes as she pulled out her gun and walked to the end of the room. She began staking chairs precariously on top of each other. Then an empty bottle on three seat edges and two hidden behind the wooden back rests. Kelsey inspected the work, then retreated to the end of the room. Taking a stand pressed against the door. She pulled out her dessert eagle gun and fired.

Six bullets fired. Each bullet strike the bottle in it’s heart and exploded. The last hit one chair leg and sent the object crashing to the ground.

Kelsey frowned at the sixth bullet, it was supposed to hit one of the bottles, but she missed. She turned to the couple. Bracing herself for failure. Instead, the couple were cheering her on. She looked at the confused.

“Well damn Kelsey you can shot” Mary stated proudly.

“Well done”

“what are you doing?” Kelsey asked them confused.

“Congratulating you, that was amazing. I know women three times your age who can’t hit a still target even with the gun pressed against the target” Lilith stated proudly.

Mary snorted. “You aren’t going to let Sister Cara down for that are you?”

“Not yet”

Kelsey frowned confused. “but I missed” she exclaimed. “why are you happy? I missed”

“But you hit them kid, sure you missed one, but you hit them” Mary stated. Shotgun frowned as she asked the kid “why are you upset for not being perfect?”

“because perfection is everything”

“did the devil teach you that?”

“yes”

“ah, well not here” Mary stood slowly. She turned to the girl and informed “what matters is doing the right thing, to yourself and to others. Now I can tell your not one to stay in one place, so you can stay here as long as you like. All we ask for your help with the bar and most of the time you will have to stick with us”

“is that all?”

“Yes”

Kelsey nodded, then started looking around the bar.

Lilith watched the girl for a moment, then lean over her knees and asked “do you have a family? We can help you find them?”

“No” Kelsey answered quickly. “They’re dead”

Lilith nodded. “Then please stay here. We can help you get your own place if you want your own space”

Kelsey turned back to them and answered “okay”

“Good” Mary spoke. “now stay here while I get the vacuum”

“I can clean” Kelsey insisted.

“I know Kelsey, but cleaning together makes it go faster and then we can help you settle in. Give you a proper tour and get you some clothes” Mary answered as she headed towards the kid.

Kelsey frowned for a moment, considering her argument, then agreed “okay”

“Good” Mary gave her another smile before walking to the back room. As she approached the door, she saw her girlfriend give her a curious look. Her girlfriend gave her a sharp nod, then walked over to Kelsey. Mary watched them talk for a moment, then retreated to the back room.

“I think this Devil is human” Lilith stated.

It was well and truly into the night. The ladies retired to their temporary room on the second floor, with a glass of icy water to nurse in their hands. The tv barely on, just loud enough to fill the silence with static white noise, but neither woman was focused on the local nurse broadcast.

After spending the afternoon with the new girl. The still, mysterious, new girl, they hadn’t learned much more about this Devil. However, they have successfully eased the kid into the prospects of staying at the bar. Providing the girl with new clothes, shower, the necessaries a soon to be teenage girl needs and helped her fix the haircut. The Lovers even cancelled their trip, for now, until the girl was either comfortable living with them or in a suitable home.

Now the girl was finally laid to rest, the couple gathered. Reflecting on the day.

“what makes you think that?” Mary asked. Taking a swig from her glass.

“Instincts, the way she talks about this devil. It has a human level of evil to it. What about you?”

“Same, just wanted to learn where you stood”

Lilith took a sip of her drink. She placed it on her knee and asked “do you think she’ll want to stay?”

Mary smiled a teasing grin. “wow kid has only been here a few hours and you already want to adopt her”

“Oh please you are thinking it to!” Lilith chuckled.

“Well maybe I am!” Mary laughed.

“You should” Lilith laughed. She dropped her head back on the headrest, turning to the TV. Just as the news started discussing a boat sinking tragedy off the coast of Malan. “I don’t want to push her into something, but I think we can help her. I think she’ll be okay under our care”

Mary followed Lilith’s gaze to the TV. Watched the story, then turned back to her girlfriend and stated “she’ll be more then okay under our care”

Lilith turned to her and grinned. “Now look who’s being domestic”

“Oh shut up!” Mary whined.

“Make me!” Lilith teased.

Mary forced her glass on the bedside table, turned around to Lilith. Grabbed the woman by the scruff of her shirt and kissed her. Lilith almost dropped her glass from the kiss, but she began reciprocating immediately. Tossing her glass off to down the bed as she pulled Mary onto her lap.

The ladies didn’t get far when a knock startled them. Throwing themselves off each other to opposite ends of the bed as the door started creaking open. By the time Kelsey wondered in, dressed in blue pjs and barely awake. Clutching onto her gun as if it were her stuffed teddy bear. The couple were posing in unnatural, natural, positions either side of the bed. As if appearing they were watching TV and not about to fuck.

“Hey kid, why are you up?” Mary asked.

“had a bad dream” Kelsey croaked. She looked up at the couple and frowned fearfully. “I had a dream we were attacked in the bar…this place is secure…right”

“Right, all the doors shut” Mary assured.

“Windows?”

“Deadbolt shut” Lilith answered.

“Weapons?”

“With us”

“good”

“Do you want to stay with us until you fall asleep?” Lilith asked with a light pat on the mattress.

“No, I’m going to do a perimeter check, just in case”

“Kelsey you don’t have to do that, go to sleep, Mary and I can do that”

“No, I want to do it now, if he…” her voice trailed off as she caught the sight of the TV. Particularly, the super yacht on fire off the coast. She watched the image entranced and the voice of the reporter echoed through her mind.

“Police have confirmed no survivors in this horrid accident” the reporter spoke. “Police confirmed bodies of six men were found on the scene and those six men were believed last seen entering the boat before it burst into flames. The ship wreck is now under investigation”. His face disappeared and replaced with the six photos of the deceased individuals. One of which, was Rovdjur. His haunting dark eyes glaring through the TV Screen, daring anyone who gazes upon his face to move away, to blink. His face gave the three an uneasy feeling, as if they take their eyes off him, he will appear in the room. Never the less, the couple wordlessly agreed to study the TV and the dead man's photo while also trying to decipher Kelsey's sudden strange behaviour.

Kelsey’s eyes buldged out of her head at the sight of Rovdjur listed as dead. She wondered over to the TV. Standing in front of the media, wrapped in the story.

The couple frowned concerned. Eyeing the screen and Kelsey’s reaction.

”You okay Kelsey?” Mary questioned concerned.

”yes” she whispered. She stumbled back and turned to them with a gentle smile. ”Yes I am”

”Perhaps your right, we should take a walk” Lilith offered, getting up onto her knees.

Before Lilith stood on her feet, Kelsey shot to the door with a spring in her step. ”No need!” the kid stated. She reached the door, stepped out into the hallway and turned back to them. She smiled as she thank them ”thank you for finding me”

”you’re welcome”

”see you in the morning” she wished, shuttering the door behind her.

”well that was strange” Mary commended, starring at the door confused. ”what was that about?”

”I don’t know” Lilith admitted.

”Do you wanna?” Mary turned to Lilith.

Lilith sighed and stated ”Yes!”

The couple shot out of bed, Lilith releasing her claws and Mary took up her shotgun. The two stormed out of their bedroom and began patrolling the bar.
