Guilt.
— Two months ago —
Yellow had been pacing around her chambers, her pearl watching her confusedly. “Is everything alright, my diamond?” Yellow stared at her pearl before sighing shortly after. “Stress. That's all, Pearl.” Yellow Pearl nodded and decided not to persist any further, unsure of what the reaction would be. Yellow continued her pacing, mumbling to herself about Steven and Blue. Until she heard a quiet yet audible gasp from her pearl. She turned to the entrance to see White Diamond. And White did not have her usual smile plastered on her face. “Yellow, my dear. I don't know what has gotten into you. That behavior from you... It's behavior I would've expected from Pink, but definitely not you or Blue. Care to explain what has gotten into you?”
Yellow stared at White for a second. If she said the wrong thing, the conversation could end badly. White can be.. unpredictable at times. “I just.. feel like you could.. care more. About Blue, about me.. and you could've cared more about Pink too.” White raised an eyebrow at Yellow. “Has Starlight messed with your sense of reality, Yellow? Your a diamond! You can easily take care of yourself, just like Blue. Starlight could've taken care of herself easily, but hertemper was blocking her potential. Diamonds are not to show such weakness as your doing rignt now.” White would squint her eyes at Yellow. Yellow felt like shrivelling up into a ball at this point, which was rare for her to feel.
“I’m sure that you aren't defected.. neither is Pink. You both just need to remember what's more important. Your better than this, Yellow, and I mean that. You have all of Homeworld looking to you, following your every order. You have your own court, your own colonies.. if you get distracted just like Starlight, your gonna loose sense of what's important and what's not. She caused a whole war with what she did.. You don't wanna do the same, do you?” White looked at Yellow expectantly. Yellow sighed snd stared at the floor for a moment, her mind blank. Another war would practically destroy the empire that she helped create. Everything she worked for, gone. They barely had any resources for gems in the first place, and they gems that were being created were weak.
After a moment of thinking it all through, Yellow shook her head. “I... wouldn't wanna do that to Homeworld.” White closed her eyes, her usual smile coming back. “Great, I'm glad we talked this through. Please go back to your regular duties, if this type of behavior happens again from you, there will be consequences, Yellow.” White opened her eyes, walking away to head over to Blues chambers. What Blue didn't know was that when she was entering her quarters after being moved to the entrance of her chambers by White, she left the door cracked open slightly. When White was about to open the door, she looked through the crack and caught a glimpse of Pink Diamond- well, Rose. Blue showering her with attention. And just like that, Whites smile was gone.
White instead went back to her ship and sent her pearl to Yellows chambers. “Hello again, Yellow. I have a request for you.” She spoke through her pearl, her usual smile plastered on her pearl. Yellow had already gone back to overseeing her colonies and her army, she sat up when she saw the mind controlled pearl. “In a few minutes, please make your way to Starlights palace. It seems that shes finally come back after her time of fun. And then, lock her in the prision tower, please.” Yellow nodded slightly. Pink couldn't be back — if she was, did that mean Steven was gone? Was she the spinning sphere? “We will have a meeting about this when I get a few tasks complete.”
And just like that, the mind controlled pearl was enveloped in a white bubbled and summoned back to Whites ship. Yellow stood up and commanded ber pearl to oversee the army's and colonies in her absence and to notify her if anything goes wrong.

After the deed was done, Yellow stared at the now locked prison door. The sounds of Pink banging, punching at the door. Screaming and pleading for Yellow to open the door. It was all too familar. With a sigh, Yellow started walking back to her chambers with a cloud of guilt surrounding her.
“I’m sorry, Pink.”
