A Scrapped NC Duckburg's Downfall Sequel
"Super Sorceress of Unity? You're the multiverse's last hope."
Lena jumped when she heard the amplified voice from the figure - it was loud and also quite scary to her.
"Who are you?" Lena asked.
The big, tall duck figure floated closer to the hexagon - his outfit was predominantly purple, with a cape that had its collar up instead of closing it down. Looking closely at his appearance for a while, Lena finally figured out his identity.
"Are you... the Watcher?"
The Watcher nodded. "I'm one of the Watchers, yes."
He began explaining about his role: he was assigned to watch over four different universes - Earth-DT4, Earth-DT9, Earth-DT46 (which was Lena's own universe) and Earth-DT66. They were all considered to be endangered - and his task was to oversee if those prophecies would indeed become true.
"And unfortunately," he sighed, "your universe was one of the universes that suffer the fate."
"I'm sorry," Lena was getting angry, "but why didn't you intervene in the first place?"
"Because I took an oath." The Watcher explained simply - his voice was still calm. "That we aren't going to intervene in any universe under any circumstances. If we do that, it causes an incursion, which will have unforeseen consequences to a universe far more than you could imagine."
"What's an incursion?"
"An incursion is when one universe collides with another. Both will be destroyed - but one stays to create a new universe that is completely fractured. Some inhabitants in both universes that experience the incursion will be able to survive, but the result, like I said, will be catastrophic."
Lena suddenly interrupted. "What exactly do you want from me?"
The Watcher decided to clear up about the situation - both Earth-DT4 and Earth-DT9 experienced the incursion, and they merged to form Earth-DT13, which destroyed Earth-DT4 completely. However, unlike other incursions, this incursion kept the original Earth-DT9 residents alive and physical characteristics of Earth-DT4 did not collide with the newly created Earth-DT13.
"I thought that's good for you?" Lena was confused.
The Watcher shook his head. "That's the problem: incursions are never meant to have one universe's inhabitants all survive. What's even more alarming is that there are only two known inhabitants of Earth-DT4 that seemingly existed long before they are supposed to."
He continued, saying that it created versions of the original Earth-DT9's residents that were not considered normal to each.
"For instance, your friend Webbigail - she joined F.O.W.L. by driving herself into insanity, which was achieved just by her trapping in a F.O.W.L. room with information about Project 87."
Upon hearing this, Lena broke into tears. She didn't even need to hear who did this from the Watcher - she knew it was a version of herself, together with Bradford Buzzard, that drive Webby into madness.
The Watcher broke down on the story he told as well - but he quickly managed to get himself up.
"Which is why I need your help." The Watcher finally spoke again.
Lena quickly covered her tears. "You're not supposed to intervene on other universes."
"This is different, Lena." The Watcher interrupted, his voice was filled with concern. "A new kind of incursion emerged, and it's crucial that I have to step up and intervene it from going any further. The situation on that universe is extremely terrible, and if we aren't able to contain it, it can spread to different universes and damage the stability of the multiverse as a whole."
"Then why was mine not important to you?!" Lena yelled, and didn't bother to cover her tears anymore.
"Because," the Watcher's voice was now trembling, "your universe was meant to be in that path."
"SO YOU JUST SAT THERE, AND DID NOTHING?"
"You're not going to blame this on me!" The Watcher was also getting angry. "You decided to join F.O.W.L., and you knew the risk. Yet you ignored it and put everyone in danger. That doesn't make you any better than Lena in that universe!"
She stopped for a moment to let that sink in. As much as she tried, the Watcher was being logical, and that she was wrong at the start. Fearing that Lena was starting to close off, the Watcher calmed himself down.
