Part 1
It's done.
Scrooge lost all his hope and succumbed to his own Number One Dime.
It was too late for the Ducks to do anything. She did it.
Magica De Spell's revenge on Clan McDuck had been executed and completed.
Duckburg had fallen.
oOo
Lena just saved Webby from a magical shark that she created under Magica's order. Magica was very furious - as expected - about her niece's action, but instead of arguing about it, Lena only nodded her head and apologised. That surprised Magica, and she asked:
"You're acting strange, Lena. Did you bump your head on Tiffany?"
"No, I just feel like you're right." said Lena apologetically. "I really should have stayed a little bit longer to let you get the dime."
"Well, usually you're more stubborn than this, but as your aunt, I'll accept this apology." Magica got disgusted a little bit, and continued. "Remove that useless friendship bracelet. There's no reason you must keep that, unless you don't want your freedom, yes?"
"W-wait, yes, I-I do." Lena stuttered. There's a part of her that really needed this freedom, and yet for a moment she felt like going against her aunt was a better thing to do. "I'll do it now."
Lena slowly reached the water and removed the bracelet. As it travelled through the still water, the bracelet suddenly exploded. She unknowingly cast a spell on the bracelet which caused the explosion.
"W-wow, that's way better than I thought it would go. I felt good."
"Very good my dear." Magica's tone changed to a soft voice, knowing that she still had her niece's allegiance on the bloodline of vengeance. "So, how much did you snug out from your little friend Webbigail here?"
"How did you know I kept a book of records about her?"
"Oh Lena, Lena, Lena. You wouldn't think shadows can't see through another shadow's life?"
"Wha- but that's an invasion of privacy! How could you-" Lena suddenly stuttered, her voice was unable to trail on.
"Now listen here young girl. Your record is very helpful and you could help us get somewhere here." Magica angrily replied, proning Lena to reluctantly speak about the details.
"Let me ask you this, Aunt Magica. Don't you ever think something's wrong with her obsession with the McDuck clan?" Lena asked, added with a smirk.
"Oh, trust me young girl," Magica said, clearly unimpressed. "She's just like anyone that fell in love with his disgusting adventures. As much as I clearly hate it, there's really nothing wrong with her liking Scrooge."
"Then you would be wrong." Lena slightly smiled.
"I sense you have something in mind. Go ahead."
"Being obsessed doesn't mean being the same as Scrooge McDuck. But Webbigail's characteristics are too similar to Scrooge himself. From the poses, to his favourite tea bag, to even decoding charades in a nick of time. Unless…"
"...she is Scrooge's daughter?!" Magica realised in shock.
"I've been keeping track of Webbigail and her grandmother, Bentina Beakley. Though she's just any other ordinary housekeeper, she's in fact a retired spy of S.H.U.S.H., an intelligence agency. Her last mission involved something about taking care of F.O.W.L. once and for all. Her lack of detail on Webbigail's parents inevitably means she isn't Webbigail's true grandmother." Lena explained.
"I believe I'm almost there with my research. I just need to do something tomorrow." Lena added.
Clearly Magica was shocked at her niece's discovery. "You really dug out a lot since you entered McDuck Manor. Of course you can do 'your thing' tomorrow, but tell me, where are you going this time?"
"Funso's Fun Zone."
oOo
"Where fun is in the zone!" chanted the triplet as Lena asked them about it.
"You wanted to go there?" exclaimed Louie, clearly excited for this revisit.
"Yeah, I could use some fun around." said Lena.
"THIS IS GOING TO BE THE GREATEST DAY!" Webby exclaimed, even louder than Louie. She wasn't expecting her 'best friend' to come to Funso's and have some fun with the gang.
"Alright, we're scheduled to go by 8 in the morning." said Huey, clearly responsible for this adventure's plan. "And we're going by Uncle Donald's car, after…"
"Yeah. That incident. Sorry guys." Webby was embarrassed by Huey's remark.
Dewey seized the chance to mock his older brother. "It's alright Webby, just forget about Huey. He's a bit… too quirky sometimes."
"Guys, are we going or not?" Lena was annoyed by all the small, petty arguments.
"Yeah, of course, just waiting for LP."
"Who's LP-"
"Alright buckle up, Dewey, Dewey's brothers and his friends, we're heading to Funso's!" Launchpad was the driver since Donald was still busy fixing the houseboat after the Money Shark incident.
"Funso's Fun Zone… where fun is in the zone!"
After several… unpleasant crashing and constant traffic violations made by Launchpad, they made it to Funso's. Lena quickly went in.
"Hey guys, I'm in a terrible condition, just give me a moment." said Lena, faking her stomach-ache.
"Oh, that's alright, you can go." said Webby, worrying about her friend.
oOo
"Shh. Triplet huddle!" Louie hissed on his older brothers.
"What's wrong, Louie?" said a confused Dewey.
"Something is wrong, isn't it?" Huey asked.
"I know a con when I see one. I also know mischief when I see one."
"And I know just who is the guilty party here." Louie added.
"Louie, I think you're a bit illogical there." Huey replied, then lowered his voice. "Lena can't do that; she saved Mrs. Beakley from the collapsing train before, remember?"
"Oh, Hubert. All the heroic saving doesn't mean anything other than gaining trust from us. You may be smarter than the smarties, but I'll be glad to say that I'm very, very sharp. Like I told you before, dear Hubert, dear Dewford, I know a con when I see one, I know mischief when I see one. It has to be her."
"Hey guys, what are you talking about?" Webby suddenly appeared.
"Uh, nothing!" said Louie. "We were just plotting on our next trip."
"Oh really?" Webby questioned Louie, who was sweating hard. "Then again, you're good at doing something wrong, so I'll leave you to that. LET'S PLAY SOME ARCADE GUYS!"
"Yeah, let's go!"
oOo
"They lost my track. You can come out now, Aunt Magica."
Magica reappeared as a shadow. "Why are we in a ball pit, on a children's playground?" She's clearly uninterested in whatever her niece was doing right now.
"Relax. We're almost there." said Lena lightly.
Lena went on down under the ball pit, and found exactly what she was looking for - a secret entrance to an underground base.
"Here we are, Aunt Magica."
"Clever girl. I can't even see why you originated as a shadow anymore," Magica was impressed. "You're just as good as your uncle, Poe."
"Alright, take it down a notch. This isn't an ordinary underground base." Lena made her remark. "We have to be careful from here."
And just as Lena thought, it wasn't an ordinary underground base at all.
The Flendish Organisation for Word Larceny was no ordinary criminal organisation - they were some of the most dangerous enemies Scrooge McDuck had ever faced. As Lena opened the master command room, she saw only three chairs that had been positioned differently from the rest.
In those chairs sat the Board of Directors of McDuck Enterprises, Buford, Bentley, and most important of all, Bradford Buzzard.
"Miss Lena Le Strange. I have been expecting your arrival. Or should I say, Miss Lena De Spell?" Bradford approached, calmly addressing Lena.
"Please, just call me Lena." Lena replied. "I'm here to ask some questions."
"Very well, Lena. Please sit down."
"I'm sure that you have your aunt, Magica De Spell, accompanied with. May I speak to her?" asked Bradford. "Buford, Bentley, go back to Sector 1 and check on all F.O.W.L. agents this instant."
Buford and Bentley left, while Magica appeared out of Lena's shadow and started to speak.
"Well, well, if it isn't the Board of Directors of McDuck Enterprises, plotting against the boss himself." Magica sarcastically said. "What's your plan on this exactly?"
"Oh, Miss De Spell, if you can see it from my perspective, you would understand." Bradford replied. "Scrooge McDuck has brought nothing from his adventures but trouble and chaos to Duckburg."
Bradford leaned forward, showing Lena and Magica the amount of chaos and extreme conditions that Earth received from all the adventures Scrooge allegedly caused to the world. He implied that F.O.W.L. tend to restore world order and to monitor all extreme adventures and impacts that can affect the peaceful world view.
"And, Lena, I think you and I have something in common too."
"W-woah, easy there, Bradford-"
"Call me Director Buzzard." Bradford interrupted.
"Director Buzzard, I don't think we reach an understanding yet, but the only reason why I came here is about Webbigail Vanderquack." Lena continued.
"Ah, yes, the granddaughter of Agent 22. That's what we have in common, Lena." Bradford said.
"I guess we should go along. Aunt Magica isn't as patient as us two here."
