Chapter 5

“Peter Parker?!” Goblin laughs. “It all makes sense now, the sudden disappearances, the need of approval from Harry, and the obsession for curing me. How have I never known?” I glared at the goblin. Ashamed that he had this much power over me. “ I’ve always thought of you as a son. So much better than Harry, and this just proves it more!”

“Harry loves you Norman! Even in your hideous form! You don’t mean that.” I shout at him in anger.

“But I do, Peter. Deep down I’ve always wanted you as a son. I almost feel sad about what I’m about to do to you.”

I lunged for him right then and there. Not caring about my mask. He dodged and laughed. His laugh sickened me. I couldn’t stand it. I turned around in time to see him press another button on his glove. As soon as he pressed it, the gas filled the room. Thick white gas. Then a clear mask flew around his face.

“What did you just do?!” I shouted at him. I covered my mouth with my arm to try and block out the gas.

“I put that gas you saw earlier in here. Except this time we are going to see the end results. Let me explain what exactly this gas does.“ He cackled again.

“First the gas will enter your lungs.” He said. Then I started to feel pain in my chest. They felt like they were a bout to burst. “Next it will become harder to breathe,” I started to cough and cough as the gas filled up my lungs. It was becoming extremely difficult to take in oxygen. I fell to the floor on my hands and knees trying to breathe. “Are you having trouble breathing Peter?” He laughs. He holds me up by my face and punches me then I fall to the floor once more struggling to take in air. This time I lie down, coughing and coughing until my lungs hurt even worse. “Your vision will start to fail, well not entirely just a little.” My eyes started to burn as it was becoming harder to see. What was this gas?! My eyes got blurry and black splotches surrounded my vision. “Don’t worry Spider-Man it’s almost over. Finally you’ll lose consciousness. And then in exactly 10 minutes after you lose consciousness your heart will stop, due to lack of oxygen. I’m afraid I won’t be here for that part, because well, you see, I’m releasing this gas in this entire building.”

“No-.” I wheeze as I lay there defenseless.

“Yes, I know I said I wouldn’t hurt your precious friends. But I couldn’t resist. I love making you suffer even in death. This exact gas will be released through the vents. No one will survive. Well except for the people with these helmets, which is all the prisoners you have here. We will all escape while all of shield and it’s young heroes die. The perfect plan.”

“No. Norman. Please- don’t do this. This isn’t you!” I wheezed out barely able to make out a sentence.

“This is me! This is what I do! It is part of my DNA now, the old Norman is gone! I would say I’m sorry for being this way, but I’m not. Goodbye Spider-Man, or Peter Parker.” Goblin started to walk away.

“We- had- a deal! I told- you- my identity!” I wheeze out while laying on the floor choking in this gas.

“This is your problem peter, you put to much trust in people. You think there’s good in everyone, but sometimes that’s not the case. Maybe try being more cautious next time. Oh wait there won’t be a next time for you!” He walked away chuckling. He walked away from me, as I lay there dying. I try to crawl after him. Clawing on the floor dragging my body as the door opens and closes for him. I get to the door and bang on it, laying my head on it while on my knees. I have to warn them, but I am so tired. I raise my shaky hand and look at my communicator and only have enough strength to try and check the time. Realizing it’s been 45 minutes. I remember what I said to agent venom and iron spider.

“If I don’t come back in 30 minutes, well, assume the worst I guess.” Wow, assume the worst? I really need to be careful with what I say. I fall back, exhausted and wheezing. I looked to the side and see something or someone flying towards me, but I close my eyes and black out. Taking my last breath.
