so in love that you act insane
Charles finishes buttoning up his shirt and steps into his living room.
“Woah, Charles! You meeting prince charming today?”, Moira teases from the couch, wrapped in a blanket with a crime show playing on the TV. Charles rolls his eyes, “Is that nickname ever going to leave?”, he says as he shrugs his coat on. Moira gets up and fixes his hair, “I'm not teasing! He really is straight from a Disney movie. God, you sure he doesn't have a twin?”.
Charles chuckles, patting Moira on the shoulder, “I'll make sure to ask him. But right now my prince charming awaits and I'm already very late”. He kisses her cheek, grabs his keys and heads to the parking lot where a sleek black Audi was waiting for him with its owner leaning against its hood.
“Good evening, Charles. You look beautiful”, Steve greeted, gently pressing a kiss onto Charles hand. He then proceeded to open the car door for Charles before getting in himself.
Their date was wonderful, Steve, as usual, was perfect. He did everything right. He always did everything right. He never stood Charles up, never made him wait, always called when he said he would, he was perfectly polite and even Raven liked him. He was everything the Charles of 6 years ago would have been ready to marry. But that was before Erik Lensherr.
All Charles could think about during their date and their entire relationship were those steel coloured eyes.
He missed it all. He missed the screaming, the fighting and ending their arguments with particularly rough nights in the bedroom. He missed jumping into Erik's arms, kissing the life out of each other while the rain poured down on them after one of their many breakups. He missed the banging on his door at 2a.m., the kiss he’d receive the moment he opened it. He missed shouting at each other, he missed shoving Erik away only to be pulled into a desperate kiss. He missed sneaking around in libraries, making out against the bookshelves. He missed the love he felt, the amount of feelings that Erik Lensherr made him feel. No matter how much time he spent with Steve, he knew he’d never feel how felt with Erik.
Instead, he smiles at Steve who was telling him a work story. His heart feels nothing even when Steve doesn't notice his fake smile. He looks into those vibrant blue eyes and pretends to not be thinking of steel.
