Steven Grant, Educator
There are a couple reasons I headcanon that Steven becomes a middle school history teacher after the events of "Moon Knight" end. First, Marc originally modeled Steven on a fictional academic who took on a teacher-like role with his protegee, and was possibly an actual teacher as well (Dr. Steven Grant is basically Indiana Jones, and Indiana was a college professor iirc). Second, Steven's personality actually lends itself perfectly to education and childcare.
Passion and excitement are contagious, and teachers who seem psyched about what they're teaching are more likely to keep their students' attention and get them excited about the topic as well. Steven is passionate and excited about literally everything.
One of the many things I love about Steven is that he pretty much acts the same way with everyone he meets. He has virtually no filter, but he's so genuinely wholesome that this ends up being an asset rather than a liability. It also makes those around him feel safe, because Steven is both completely honest and sincerely well-meaning. In this way, he is consistent and predictable, but at the same time, he doesn't accept any bullshit. As a teacher, these qualities are invaluable. Children need the adults in their lives to be honest, trustworthy and reliable, and they need teachers who not only set high standards, but give their students the skills and resources necessary to meet those standards (as we all know, too many teachers fail to follow through on that second part).
Simple conversations with students about subjects they're learning, or any topic really, actually qualify as informal assessments for teachers. Talking to students outside of a formal lesson and getting to know them as people is the most important thing a teacher can do. In his interaction with that sassy little girl in Episode 1, Steven actually displays some pretty impressive intuitive knowledge of how to talk to and educate children. He sees her put a piece of trash inside a display, and instead of chastising or embarrassing her about it, he 1. vocalizes a possible explanation for the behavior that gives her the benefit of the doubt and shows he's willing to help her if she's confused ("looks like someone mistook the Great Pyramid of Giza for a rubbish dump"), and then 2. redirects her attention to something she might find more interesting (gross facts about mummification are way more fun than looking at a tiny pyramid replica, sorry), in the process modeling the correct way to behave toward museum property without calling unnecessary extra attention to it in a way that might embarrass or shame her in front of her peers. Not only that, he actually gets her to show real interest in the subject matter (until Donna shows up and ruins it). Her sassy comment about Steven being rejected from the Field of Reeds is a joke, but it also displays a thorough understanding of the information he's just given her, AND she put it in her own words. And all this resulted from Steven seeing that her putting trash in the pyramid display wasn't a deliberate act of disrespect, but an honest misunderstanding of the purpose of museum displays ("it's not like there's anything in there").
Steven's only real flaw as a teacher is that he's so disorganized, as in the "oh bollocks, report cards were due TODAY?" kind of disorganized. But Marc helps him out with that, and it all works out fine most of the time.
At first he would try too hard to be impressive, which comes across as goofy and makes it hard for the students to take him seriously. But as he gets more comfortable, he starts doing much better. Soon the kids are hanging on his every word, and he's the most popular teacher in the school.
He would teach the kids to read basic hieroglyphs, which causes a scandal when the principal finds out students have been writing secret messages to each other using hieroglyphs.
Layla visits the school once in a while to do a lesson on archaeology.
One day, Steven takes his class on a field trip to the National Art Gallery and JB goes "hey, Scotty!"
30 children scream at him, "IT'S STEVEN WITH A V!!!!!!!!!!!!"
