Snow Day
“Wake up, Nat! Wake up!” you run into your shared bedroom shouting. She springs awake immediately and is up on her feet looking for a threat.
“What happened? What’s wrong?” Natasha says with defensive mode on.
“It snowed! It’s still snowing!” you say happily like a little kid.
“Jesus, y/n, I thought something was seriously wrong with you or the kids. You can’t just come in here yelling,” Natasha takes a deep breath and sits down at the end of the bed.
“Oh, my bad. Things are quite the opposite of wrong. You have to come play in the snow with me, please!” you practically beg her taking her hands in yours.
“You’re pretty excited about this, huh?” Natasha smiles at your antics.
“You know how much I love snow,” you reply.
“I do, detka. I’ll get Ali ready, and you get Ivan,” Natasha says.
“Oh, you just don’t want to change a diaper,” you tease, and Nat just kisses you with a smirk before she leaves to wake Ali up.
The four of you get snow clothes on and are outside before it’s even 10am.
“What are we doing outside this early?” Ali asks Nat. She’s snuggled in Nat’s arms, clinging to her like always.
“It’s snowing, baby. Look how pretty it is,” Natasha tries to place her down on the ground, but she hangs tight onto her neck. Natasha laughs and stands back up continuing to hold her.
Meanwhile, Ivan is running around like crazy in the powdery blanket that’s on the ground. He’s been walking for about two months, and he’s already taken quite quick to running.
“Ali, look at your brother. Do you want to play with him?” you ask her, trying to get her as excited about the snow as you and your youngest are. She doesn’t budge, only mumbling that the snow is too cold and burrowing further into Natasha.
“Maybe she’ll like sledding?” Nat suggests and you nod slightly. “You go play with Ivan, y/n. I can get the sleds from the garage.” You run off to play with Ivan and she smiles at how sweet the two of you are.
“Come on, Ali. Let’s have some fun,” Natasha says once they get the sleds out of the shed and to the top of a hill in front of your house. You sit down on a sled and reach for Ali. Reluctantly, she leaves Nat’s grasp and sits in your lap. Ivan does the same with Natasha on the next sled.
“Ready everyone?” you ask excitedly, definitely more excited than the kids to be sledding right now.
“Ready,” Nat confirms, and you speed off down the hill. Ali was a bit skeptical about it at first, but by the time you reach the bottom of the hill she’s begging to go up and do it again.
And so, you trek back up the hill and sled down it again and again. It’s hours before you take a break. Natasha makes some hot chocolate, the best hot chocolate in the world actually, and you huddle by the fireplace. After a few hours, you go back outside and play again. This time making snow angels and having a snowball fight.
Just when you were about to call a ceasefire in the fight, Natasha sneaks up from behind you and tackles you softly into the snow.
“Natasha!” you shout as she pins you to the ground. You give her a pout.
“Gotcha,” Nat practically giggles, and you can’t help but smile. She leans down and kisses you slowly, but it’s soon interrupted by your kids joining in on the tackle.
“Not three against one,” you say, feigning betrayal.
“Only because we love you, dorogoy,” Natasha says.
“Yeah, we love you, doro- how do you say it Mama?” Ali asks Natasha and she whispers it to her. “Dorogoy,” she says. And your heart melts at the sound of your wife and daughter speaking Russian together. And at your son who’s lost his interest in the tackle and instead rests his head on your chest, his eyes drooping closed with sleep.
“I love all of you too, so much,” you say. “And I love snow days.”
“Me too,” Nat says contentedly and envelopes all of you into a hug.
