Party

“Well, you know, the suit can take the weight, right? So I take the tank, fly it right up to the General's palace, drop it at his feet, I'm like, "Boom! You looking for this?" Tony Stark and Thor just look at him with blank expressions "Boom! Are you looking..." Why do I even talk to you guys? Everywhere else that story kills.”

“That's the whole story?” The god of Thunder asks as Rhodes says it’s the War Machine story.

“Well, it's very good then.” Thor says as he laughs “It's impressive.”

“Quality save.” Then Rhodes turns to Tony and asks “So, no Pepper? She's not coming?”

“No.”

Maria Hill asks Thor about Jane and asks them both where the ladies were.

“Well, Miss Potts has a company to run.” Tony says.

“Yes, I'm not even sure what country Jane's in. Her work on the convergence has made her the world's foremost astronomer. But we dumped each other, so…”

“That’s tough.” Rhodes said.

“And the company that Pepper runs is the largest tech conglomerate on earth. It's pretty exciting.” Tony says.

"There's even talk of Jane getting a... um, uh... Nobel prize."

"Yeah, they...they must be busy because they'd hate missing you guys getting together." Maria fake coughs. "Testosterone! Oh, excuse me."

Rhodes asks Hill if she wants a lozenge as they walk off.

“But I’m dating Lady Natasha now.” Thor whispers into Tony’s ear.

Sam and Steve are talking, walking up to an overlook. Sam says that sounded like a hell of a fight and apologizes that he missed it. Steve said if he had known it would be a firefight, he would have called Sam. Sam said he's sorry since and that he's happy chasing cold leads on their missing person's case and says that avenging is Steve's world. Sam asks if Steve found a place in Brooklyn yet. Steve says that he thinks he can't afford a place in Brooklyn. Sam says home is home.

Rhodes is telling the same story he told Stark and Thor to a group of people at the party. "I fly it right up to the General's palace, I drop it at his feet, I'm like, "Boom! You looking for this?" The group laughs at the War Machine story.

Steve and Thor are talking to an elderly man at the party. "I gotta have some of that!" Thor says he shouldn't. "See this, this was aged for a thousand years, in the barrels built from the wreck of Grunhel's fleet, it was not meant for mortal men." Thor pours the drink into two glasses and hands one to Steve.

"Neither was Omaha Beach, blondie. Stop trying to scare us. Come on." A veteran said in the corner as Thor pours him a drink. The man is seen later drunk as he is carried off by two men "Excelsior."

Later, most of the guests have left and it's just the Avengers plus Dr. Cho and Maria Hill sitting around. Thor's hammer sits on the table between them. Clint says it's a trick as Thor denies it.

"Oh, no. It's much more than that." Thor says as Clint mocks. "Whosoever be he worthy shall haveth the power!" Whatever man! It's a trick."

"Well please, be my guest." Thor says as Barton stands up and walks over to the hammer. Rhodes says this is gonna be beautiful.

"Clint, you've had a tough week, we won't hold it against you if you can't get it up."  Tony says as the others laugh.

"You know I've seen this before, right?" Barton grabs Thor's hammer and can't lift it. "I still don't know how you do it."

Tony asks if he smells the silent judgment. "Please, Stark, by all means." As Stark gets up as the others clamor.

"Oh, here we go."

"Okay."

"Uh-oh."

"Um-hmm."

Tony says he's never one to shrink from an honest challenge and says it's physics. He grasps Thor's hammer. "Right, so, if I lift it, I...I then rule Asgard?"

"Yes, of course."

"I will be re-instituting Prima Nocta." Stark tries to lift the hammer but fails. "I'll be right back." wearing his armored hand, Stark tries to lift the hammer again and fails again. Both wearing their armored hands, Stark and Rhodes both try to lift Thor's hammer. "Are you even pulling?" Rhodes asks as Tony asks him if he's on his team.

"Just represent! Pull!" "Alright, let's go!" They both pull as hard as they can.

Banner tries to lift the hammer and he roars as though pretending to change into the Hulk, and everyone either looks at him warily or grins.

"Huh?"

Steve gets up to try to lift the hammer. "Let's go, Steve, no pressure." Tony says as Steve pulls the hammer and manages to budge it a little. Thor looks at his hammer in alarm as Steve still 'fails' to lift it. Thor laughs in relief. The others ask Natasha to give it a try. "And?" "Widow?"

"Oh, no no. That's not a question I need answered." Natasha states as she drinks.

"All deference to the man who wouldn't be king, but it's rigged." Tony says in conclusion.

"You bet your ass."

Maria Hill tells Steve Clint said a bad language word. Steve asks Tony if he told everyone about that.

"The handle's imprinted, right? Like a security code. "Whosoever is carrying Thor's fingerprints" is, I think, the literal translation?" Tony says as Thor gets up and sighs. "Yes, well that's, uh, that's a very, very interesting theory. I have a simpler one." He then lifts up his hammer and flips it. "You're all not worthy." There's a chorus of disagreement from the others and a few boos.
