Godzilla part 1
*After Luffy and Morbius completed their mission from the B.P.R.D, they returned to their crew and continued sailing the seas.*
Morbius: Is just me or are the seas calmer than usual?
Nami: It's rare for that to happen.
Zoro: Zzzzzzzz.
Morbius: Damnit. He's sleeping again. I was hoping to get back to work, but someone has to swab the deck.
Nami: What were you working on?
Morbius: Oh, just testing out a new fancy machine I've built.
Nami: It's not something dangerous is it?
*He chuckles.*
Morbius: No. It's a simple sonar detector-like machine that detects sound waves. But the difference is detecting different frequencies on different levels. Like how whales use different frequencies to communicate. I'll use the device to detect anything that might be unheard.
Nami: Impressive.
Morbius: Thanks. But I'll work on it later, I'm gonna swab the deck because this lazy bum won't do it.
Nami: Yeah, Zoro needs to contribute every once in a while…
Morbius: Yeah, he can't sleep all the time.
*Meanwhile Luffy is relaxing on the captain’s seat. When he hears a voice.*
???: I'm ready soon. I'll be ready soon.
Luffy: Hm? Who said that?
*But he sees no one is near him.*
Luffy: What's going on?
*The machine detects a frequency, and emits an alarm noise.*
Nami: What's that sound?
Morbius: The machine! I must've left it on. Come on, let's check it out.
*They go inside the lab to look for it.*
Luffy: I heard something
Morbius: It's my machine, it detected a sound.
*The rest of the crew enters.*
Usopp: What's going on!?
Sanji: I heard something that went “wee woo, wee woo”?
Usopp: it didn't sound like that it sounded more like a “BLLLAAAAGYUH”.
Nami: It's Morbius’ sound detecting machine. He built it and I think it found something.
Usopp: Like what?
*The machine prints an image.*
Nami: What's it doing?
Morbius: It's printing a sonar image. That's interesting.
*He grabs the paper and analyzes it.*
Morbius: This pattern is jagged, inconsistent. Like… an animal call.
Luffy: I heard it too.
Morbius: … Huh?
Luffy: Yeah I heard something like “I'm ready soon” or something.
Usopp: That's not an animal call! At all!
Morbius: My machine has sensors that can detect sounds that the human ear can't listen to. No way did you hear something
Luffy: But it's true! I heard someone say they were going to be ready soon!
Morbius: Well either way, my machine is just a prototype but it managed to detect this… I wonder what could've made this sound.
Nami: Well you said it's an animal call.
Zoro: Probably a whale or something.
Morbius: There are no known whale calls that look like this.
Nami: How do you know?
Morbius: Before becoming a Biochemist I studied zoology, as part of my curriculum. Marine biology was an interesting fascination of mine. So believe me when I say, I've seen whale calls and they aren't anything like this. It's definitely huge though
*Luffy perks up and gets excited.*
Luffy: If it's big, maybe we can eat it!
Morbius: Really… you hear the possibility of a giant animal and you already want to ear it.
Luffy: Yeah! I'm asking the important questions here!
Morbius: Ugh…
Zoro: So what? It might be an interesting kill.
Morbius: You guys are idiots… Look, I'm curious to know what animal this is. I might be able to pinpoint the origin of the sound.
Luffy: Okay! You do that then!
Morbius: … you just want to eat whatever is making this sound
Luffy: Yup.
*Everyone groans.*
*Morbius looks into the distance from the source and pinpoints the sound’s location.*
Nami: You found it yet?
Morbius: Yup. It seems the original source is in Japan.
Nami: Japan?
Usopp: Japan!
*Sanji pirks up.*
Sanji: Japan!? As in… Japanese ladies!?
Nami: You pervert…
Usopp: Holy shit! I always wanted to go to Japan!
Morbius: Don't get your hopes up guys. It seems like despite the call coming from Japan it's in Janjira.
Nami: Janjira? I've heard of that place.
Luffy: What's wrong with Janjira?
Nami: I was on a thieving mission one time, stealing a rich person’s private collection. He was a Japanese ambassador who threw a charity fund to people who were evacuated from Janjira. Don't get mad at me for stealing from him though, he was embezzling the money. It essentially was charity fraud.
Luffy: Embezzling?
Morbius: He was taking the money for himself.
Luffy: Oh.
Nami: What happened from what I remember is Janjira was once a thriving urban city. Then one day an earthquake struck the power plant and destroyed it. Releasing radiation into the air. Making the city a wasteland.
Morbius: Like Chernobyl.
Luffy: I don't get it. What's radiation?
Morbius: Hmm. Radiation is like invisible energy that can travel through space. It can come from the sun, lights, and even some machines. Just like we feel warmth from the sun, some types of radiation can do different things, like help us see or make things glow. But don't worry, most radiation around us is safe. But high amounts can be toxic and cause wastelands
Luffy: I see, it's a mystery energy.
Morbius: … Sure, call it that.
Usopp: If the original source of sound came from this Janjira power plant meltdown place, and it looks like a giant animal… oh no! We're dealing with a Kaiju!
Morbius: A Kaiju!? That sounds awesome!
Usopp: What!? No!
Namiv: A kaiju?
Morbius: A giant monster from Japanese pop culture. Toho studios made giant monster movies all the time.
Usopp: Usually a Kaiju is born from an animal exposed to radiation and mutates into a giant monster!
Morbius: I'm pretty sure mutation doesn't work like that. Radiation mutating an animal would be more like cancer then gigantism. But even so, this is proof that a large animal is living there. If it is a Kaiju, I would be interested in it's morphology and biology!
Luffy: Me too!
Morbius: You don't know what that word means. You're just agreeing with me because you want to eat it!
Luffy: … Yes.
Morbius: Well, either way I'm definitely down to going to Janjira and seeing what this creature could be.
Nami: Well if both the captain and his first mate want to go to janjira… I suppose I have no choice.
Morbius: For science!
Usopp: Oh no…
Sanji: Well if we're planning to kill it, I'll see if its edible
Luffy: Woohoo! Set Sail to Japan!
